  1. I agree with most the bolded statements, but look at all the success of the numerous state champions that run the spread as well as successful NCAA teams that run it. Also, I don't think the choice of offense has that much bearing on what the defense does... good example, Dayton.... Personnel and coaching has more to do with it IMO
  2. WOS will be loaded with speed next year Franks, Gloston, Haynes, there on both relay teams. Central will lose their main horse Hall to A&M Ozen will also lose some speed but honestly in the Pear Orachard there will be speed coming from some where Hall is not the main horse on the relay teams anymore! It would be the two Thomas boys...one of which is his brother! Both guys ran sub 4.4's in the 40 and are around 10.5-10.6 in the 100. Hall has other stuff on his mind! :-\ The good thing about track kids who are football players is they can always back up their 40 times! JT ran a 4.37 and finished 3rd in the State in the 100 (lookout Defenses) while CT ran a 4.39 (twice) and was DQ at State but run a 21.15 in the 200! Both guys who along with Victor Spikes (4.47) and D-Hall finished 2nd and 3rd in the 4x1 and 4x2 relays...congrats Jags! just curious where those sub 4.4's were ran? Not a lot of FAT 40's being run in high school. I've seen both of those guys run and they can fly!! I just don't put much stock in hand timing. No doubt, they were hand times that were done multiple time by different folks. But as I was saying those track time are legit! no kidding. I was really impressed by CT at the district meet in the open 2 and in the 4x2. UNBELIEVABLE!!

  4. if a teacher drinks occasionally during the summer, are they going to have problems teaching in september? occasional marijuana use during the offseason is not going to effect how he's playing during the season. don't twist my words. now if he smokes pot every day during the offseason, gets the munchies all the time, gains 30 lbs, and subsequently lacks the ambition to go out and practice, then sure, smoking pot in the offseason will effect his playing ability. I'm not saying what he's doing is ok, I'm just saying that his comment about it not being a big deal FROM A BASKETBALL STANDPOINT is reasonable. actually wasn't even referring to your comments. my fault should have been more clear. I was referring to Howard's comments that it has no effect on him doing his job. Having no experience with marijauna, I was throwing a general question out there.
  5. Marijuana doesn't have any long-term effects?
  6. oughta be fun to watch! Just gotta get those MONSTERS (soulja's word) in the right positions.
  7. I'm glad Alston's back... he's not afraid to create and we definitely needed the extra speed. he adds a much needed dimension.
  8. it worked last year lumberton was in the playoffs longer than most of the schools in setx 1 year wonder! Lumberton has not MADE the playoffs more than any other SETX school either!!!! he meant more rounds
  9. Definately you'lls jr. high should be able to handle a cupcake predistrict schedule like that. Those teams are much better than who they have played in the past. Silsbee's gonna be pretty darn salty.
  10. UT needs more positive role models like this. Glad to see it.
  11. on any given year, you would be hard pressed to find 10 that would "beat the heck out of LaMarque". IMO
  12. good post... I agree just too lazy to type all that.
  13. Central should score well given that their 4x1 and 4x2 relays are so strong. Charles Thomas from Central was very impressive at district. He stood out over Hall and their other horses who were all very good. Ozen should make some noise too.
  14. it's crazy how bad he can look and still come so close.
  15. Good deal. congrats Jess.
  16. some of those kids just ran to win... those kids from seven lakes, nederland, brenham, and BH are all sub 2 guys. The kid from ned won his dist. on a very windy day. they'll be well under 2 come regionals.
  17. no doubt about it.
  18. I agree. I only saw him in the dayton game and realize he was just a freshman.... but it seems he will be more dangerous if you give him a little space to work with. Not much of a tackle breaker as a freshman although that may come. I think as a soph, the slot would be perfect, especially with a qb that can get it to anyone on the field.
  19. 8 to 7 Dayton!! :D
  20. Wednesday don't want anyone to be confused
  21. wow...sounds like I need to see this cat play.
  22. thanks to a great coach and some talented kids!!
