  1. I second that.
  2. DB's will be busy with Friendswood. Karam can sling it!
  3. that's good thinking, that certainly can't hurt. I hope they can get it turned around. Even though the score was pretty lopsided when we played, I thought they had some good things going at times.
  4. There were a lot of sophomores on the 07 team that played 10-15 games, so I wouldn't count on us going too far "down hill". Of course losing 2 of the top recruits in the state will hurt, but there will be a very good core group returning for 09. Dayton has a good overall program and will find a way to compete no matter where they go, and they've shown that. As far as overall UIL... you may be right and there are a lot of factors that play into that especially with the "club" sports.
  5. somebody does though. If he's got a rivals page, somebody thinks he is talented. Just wait, Beard will get his due next year if he deserves it. It though beard had a good game def. against us.
  6. that's why I said just a few. I didn't think I needed to write a dissertation in order to get my point across, but I can see that even if I did it wouldn't have done any good. my students know that Europeans weren't the first ones here. : If you think that is what is being taught, you don't know as much as you think you do. Keep stirring, I'm done.
  7. What's sad is they only get 1 month... It should be part of the curriculum just like all history... It should follow the time line... It should be just HISTORY not HIS Story! Crispus Attucks Nat Turner Thurgood Marshall Frederick Douglass Olaudah Equiano Sengbe Pieh harriet tubman These are just a few of the influential blacks I teach about in my 8th Grade U.S. History class in months other than February, not to mention those in the month of Feb. Also, they are part of the state of Texas' curriculum. I am white and I don't teach HIS Story!
  8. very valid points, but.... If Diamond-J's son isn't fast or quick enough, I'm not sure who is.
  9. sniff, sniff, sniff.... :-\ I think I smell a locked thread coming.
  10. dayton beat them 63-0 at bulldog stadium. i think central was a story of unfulfilled potential as far as vidor's schedule goes, I'm not sure the better teams want to play them in predistrict and I'm sure they don't want to go into that tough district with zero confidence.
  11. texastrack.com has them, you just have to be a paying member now. Phil Murray was putting in too many hours without getting compensated.... can't say I blame him. 25 bucks a year ain't bad though.
  12. that's stinkin' impressive. tied school record, 18th in the country, conference champ... all as a freshmen??? Great kid, great work ethic. proud that he's from dayton.
  13. cameron schwart(sp?) i believe. one of the best young powerlifters in the country and world.
  14. what's wrong with Puple4Ever complimenting what a talented group your Junior High has?? nice first post. : :
  15. I think UT's chances are slim to none. I think they are thinking of recruiting him as an athlete. cody has the physical and mental tools to play QB, in my opinion. I would guess he'll go somewhere to play QB before he goes to UT as an athlete.
  16. Great post. All of these button pusher "football gurus" crack me up. Not that I'm a guru... but just because you're not a current player or coach doesn't mean you don't know anything about football.... teaching certification, maybe.... but not football.
  17. Coach Brown was at Dayton a year or two when I was in high school. Not sure about football, but he was a very good track coach. Good for him getting to go to a place like Judson.
  18. All I have to say is who? At the risk of sounding like a homer my vote is for Chavis. not to continue with the hijack of this thread, but kimmey would be a major prospect if he was 2 inches taller. unfortunately, I don't think he's got another growth spurt in him. Chavis and Johnson have got the size and ability, total package. I would have been to if i was 3 inches taller and .4 seconds faster in the 40 and 60 pounds stonger on bench and 100 pounds stonger on squat and if, etc.......................give me a break easy there sport. I gave one exception. If Brent hadn't proved himself to be a force in this district, I wouldn't have said anything at all. also, I took nothing away from DJ or Chavis. In fact I called them both the total package. ........ give me a break.
  19. Dayton used to be in Jaspers district when I was a junior high coach. I always enjoyed the long bus trip to Jasper because to be honest they had the friendliest coaching staff and the kids ALWAYS exhibited good sportsmanship. They won state in track in the 80's and the school district doesn't even have a track! Bond issues that involved building a track or expanding the football stadium were always voted down due to the sentiment... You won state without a track, why do we need to build one. Historically passing any bond issue in Jasper has been an uphill battle. they did build a track in the late 90's I believe, we always talked about how stinkin' good they were even without a track. you could see the dirt circle they wore on the field they practiced on where the jasper CC meet started and finished. unbelievable!!!
  20. that would be awesome!!! you should get started on that. ;D
  21. nothing like the newbies coming out just to stir it up. : : :
  22. call LM and tell them that, they might just decide to not show up. Good luck to the Eagles, but I don't know that the coogs need any locker room material.
