5.
one loss on the year..and it will be to the same team that ends Dayton's season... I hope Dayton is put into our district next year!  And wish it was this year...Yall have had a great draw in Region III..enjoy it for another day..then it is over!!! Reality hits!
I'm sure you are really hoping this happens... if it does... it makes you feel a little better about losing to a team that wasn't even in the top #15 in the AP when you were ranked #5. You guys had a fantastic season but in all honesty were a little overRANKED not overrated but overranked... and you got caught off guard and in a phrase I've heard coach stewart use before... "didn't weather the storm" in the first half and it was too little too late in the second half. I think this happened to dayton in '06 against TC. don't sweat it. I feel your pain. You strike me as a player or the parent of a player. I hope you or your kid has more years left to play 'cause it would be sad to stay this bitter after your/your kids last game. :'(
How good is your field goal kicker... Carranco has connected on a 40 yard plus field goal this year. It might just very well come down to a lot of field goals, if think it will be hard to punch the ball in on both defenses inside the redzone. Can't wait till tomorrow night!!! Talk about having layers and layers of clothes on, it will be cold, looks like game time temperatures will be in the 30's and there will probably be a pretty good north / northeast wind blowing.
He's good.. hit a 39 yarder in the PNG game with alot of yards to spare.

 9. Well put in my opinion. I believe he did owe some sort of explanation/admission to the youngsters that look up to him due to his stature. Details weren't necessary to me. None of us men are above this.... Gotta always be on your game when it comes to committment.
 10.
Should be a great game in Katy this week. All I can think about is all that extra practice both teams underclassmen continue to get each year. You rarely ever see an inexperienced playoff team make a deep run. But, we all gotta start somewhere.
that's a huge advantage year to year, IMO
 11. By SAM KHAN JR. Copyright 2009 Houston Chronicle Dec. 1, 2009, 11:40PM When Dayton and Brenham met in the Class 4A Division II Region III championship game last season, they couldn't have been more different. Dayton had two of the state's best players — quarterback Cody Green and receiver A.J. Dugat — and was the prohibitive favorite to win the region (which it did). While Brenham had its own pair of stars (twins Kendrell and Kendrick Washington), the team was filled with young players in prominent roles and was not expected to reach the heights that it did after finishing tied for second in its district. One year later, the teams are meeting again at the same place, in the same round and with the same stakes — but with plenty of similarities this time around. The defending regional champion Broncos (11-2) and the Cubs (11-2) will meet at 6 p.m. Saturday at Jack Rhodes Stadium in Katy. Coming into the postseason, neither team was the obvious pick to win Region III. Dayton finished second in District 19-4A and doesn't have Dugat and Green to rely on any more. Brenham, the area's second-ranked Class 4A team and District 18-4A co-champion, had a difficult road to this point that included state-ranked foes Port Neches Groves and Angleton. Then came each team's respective regional semifinal battle. Both struggled in the first half and had halftime holes to climb out of. Brenham had the biggest deficit, down 21-0 at the half to Angleton. Making plays Brenham coach Glen West just asked his defense to stop the Wildcats once and they would go from there. They did that, then got another stop. Meanwhile, the offense went to work to pull Brenham out of its three-touchdown hole. Even when things got tough — like when quarterback Ty Schlottmann was knocked out of the game after a hard hit — guys stepped up. Whether it was a fake field goal, which the Cubs successfully executed on their final touchdown drive, or a key defensive stop, like Jeremy Hall's leaping interception on Angleton's last offensive possession, Brenham made every big play it needed to get its 32-28 come-from-behind win. “It's why you love high school football,” Brenham coach Glen West said. “ You just have to keep fighting.” Getting creative Dayton also had to fight tooth and nail. With the coaches' communication headsets not working in the first half and only one working in the second, head coach Jerry Stewart sent offensive coordinator Jeff Nations upstairs to the press box to help communicate and get the Broncos back on track. After struggling to put points on the board in the first half, they put the ball in the hands of jack-of-all-trades Payton Ploch as often as possible in the second. Ploch started the season as the team's quarterback before moving to receiver. On Saturday, his hands (eight catches, 78 yards), arm (3-for-3 passing, 70 yards) and feet (13 carries, 59 yards) helped complement the passing attack provided by sophomore quarterback Andres Herrera and the speed of running back Xavier Frank and receiver Gamal Fowler to guide the Broncos to 10 fourth-quarter points in the 17-16 comeback victory. Meanwhile, the defense allowed no points in the second half. “People underestimated us a lot,” Dayton coach Jerry Stewart said. “We've been (to the regional championship) three times in the last three years. The kids play hard, play well and we're real proud of them because they just don't quit.” [email protected]

 13.
It just sounds like they are being underestimated...
Brenham's mom is being underestimated!!! :D :D J/K.... I just asked everyone's opinion on team speed. Heck, you guys were fast on defense last year. You're a year more experienced this year.... I've talked to a lot of folks and all of them seem to consider Brenham the favorite in this game. We believe in our team though.
 14. Is it Saturday yet?!?!?!?! >:(
Last year.
nice .... didn't know that. I know they had a lot of trouble with their natural field before though. good for them. BH won't be far behind.
:D i believe so
No doubt, we have lots of sophomores getting experience this year. There are several kids who will be starting as sopomores next year as well. To be honest this year was my only concern because it goes up from here. The next 5-6 years are gonna be great.
I'm pretty jacked about all that's on the way up!! should be fun..... I don't want to think about that for a while though.

 21.
It depends who's running the ball...Dobbins had 240 yards against us, but Montgomery only had like 260 yards total and completed 2 passes.  Somehow we shut Gilbert down when we played Huntsville.  Angleton ran on us, cuz well, they're Angleton...They will get rushing yards on anybody.  I heard PNG could run the ball and we held them to like 50 yards.  The Waller game was a fluke and all their yards came from 2 70+ yard runs.  Other than that, they didn't do anything.  If teams run, expect 8 or 9 in the box.
sounds familiar. I'm interested to see the pass defenses in this game.
 22.
Haha  :P :P :P  I've kept my player critical comments to a minimum this year!!!  I would prefer X Baldwin in the backfield with Ploch and Fowler in the slot and Frank on the outside.  I know we feature the slot receivers but having that burner outside could really open things up underneath for Ploch and Fowler.  But I always will defer my opinions to CS because he sees the guys everyday in practice and has weighed all the options and will put the best team on the field.  The way Frank is going he may rush for 1,000 yards after never taking a snap at running back during the entire regular season!!  Not to mention that Delasbour is a stud at rb as well when he doesn't fumble and we haven't seen him there since the Crosby game.  That being said the limiting of the two way player has really paid off lately.
During those tough stretches where the defense can't get off the field that has been huge in my opinion... and will be going forward.... hopefully farther forward than Dec. 5  ;D Frank has a little more tackle breaking ability than Baldwin in my opinion.
 23.
I was talking to the women in my office who have kids playing for Waller.  They told me that Waller was really able to run the ball on Brenham and how it's a big rivalry game, etc.  Was it just an off game or were they running a good scheme and taking advantage of a breakdown in the defense?? I've seen many of you site the Crosby game from this year as a reason that Dayton is "not as good as last year."  I assure you this year's version of Dayton is every bit as good as last year's team with super soph Gemal Fowler really starting to come into his own.  Dayton really laid an egg in the Crosby game with turnovers but the final score is not an accurate determination of where Dayton is right now (or really then either as I've never seen one team recover 9 fumbles and the other 0 in one game).
I see you've been drinking the kool-aid.... welcome to the good side. ;D I feel like you can really just throw the waller game out, just like I feel like you could throw the crosby game out. Gamal has definitely grown into a CONSISTENT playmaker. Reyes has been a bright spot also. Now that they've had a few playoff games to get their feet wet..... it's time to play like veterans. I believe they will.

I don't really see the jump ball being as big of a play this week.  That's going to be an interesting match-up to watch
I was thinking the same things watching the highlights of the game on Chron.com. It seemed there was more of a size mismatch than there will be with our DB's. Those were great catches no doubt, it just seemed the dbs were outsized. You guys that went to both games.... How do the teams match up as far as overall speed?
Dayton has the edge on speed in my opinion, especially Dayton's defensive front.  I noticed on a few plays that Brenham runs they were slow developing pass plays in which I think Dayton's defensive front will be able to wear down Brenham's big front and get to the QB.
thanks... brenham folks??
