Disagree. HJ should win state this year. If they don't, well............
There are probably about 6 to 8 teams that "should" win state this year. The difference is always the intangibles - breaks, injuries, matchups, etc.
I played for HJ and I'm a huge HJ fan....I don't get this feeling a lot about my hawkies but I got a bad feeling about tonights game vs LCM. Playing a team 4 times and less than a 2 month span is very scary..I will be at the game tonight, I sure hope my feeling is wrong about this.....
I played AGAINST HJ for 5 years... against teams exactly like this one (Class of '82). They beat us 11 times in a row. You need to lose that scary feeling.
Ho-hum (yawn), I've seen this one before. Enough, already! ;D
Do you know how HARD it is to beat a team 4 times in one year...... well, nevermind. ;)

Those games can go either way... I seriously doubt that their will be a 3 time winner in that series. If I were Silsbee, I'd be worried about any 3A playoff team with a monster in the middle.
Well, so should any other 3A playoff team. That's hardly news. ???
But some teams are better able to handle a big guy in the middle than others. HJ and Cleveland come to mind.
Cleveland does not have a big. Silsbee has been hurt one time by one big post player this season (last night as Rider's '6"8 post scored 34). Silsbee has played other teams this season with big players (HCYA's Knowles, '6"10, scored just 8 points in a loss to Silsbee) and they have done okay. Silsbee's lack of size has hurt them in some games, but they have made up for it with their speed and quickness.
I was talking past history.

Also Vidor lost to WOS-jv in Overtime. In the last game, Vidor came back to beat BC in Overtime.
Perhaps that is why they don't post game results at the gym in Bridge City.
Just got a final. H-J won 52-38
Wow. it was almost like i was there....
?
Some of us have gotten spoiled by the 3 pages of game-time updates. Its not your fault, but the final score only post leaves us feeling a little lacking. Of course, at this point, Lazeek is supposed to tell me, "Well then go to the game and update every body else, bozo!"
What other districts have more than one team in the top 10 in 3A?
As a follow up, when was the last time the we DIDN'T have two teams from our district in the top ten. And to even further the point, didn't we have THREE teams in the top ten a few years ago (HJ, Silsbee, WOS)? I think it was the year HJ wen't Donahoe on everybody.

As an official u have to think to urself, why us neither team on the floor?
I am a Nederland supporter, and I don't think that is the way a game should be decided. Firtunately, it was not a very important game for either team. I bet it will never happen to either one of these teams again!
I agree. The game was unimportant. But the refs should be reminded that it is not their job to decide the winner of a game.
Ok from my point of view it doesnt matter how long one coached at a school to be considered the best. For example, if Phil Jackson came and coached HF for one game wouldnt he still be the best coach HF ever had just not the most successful at HF?
No, he would be the best coach who happened to coach at HF. The Best Coach HF ever had, is the coach who was able to have the most success with the Longhorns. -
After warning PAM to break the huddle during the previous TO, it sounds like the officials used the "Resumption of Play" rule (NFHS Rule Book 4-38) to perfection. And you only receive 1 warning before the ROP rule is administered, not every TO that you don't break the huddle @ the 15 sec. warning horn. so Coach Williams is right....he shouldn't have gotten another warning.
But see this is the multiple warnings I was talking about.
I don't think any coach wants to win that way, but it's a part of the game. BTW-Both coached were warned in their huddles throughout the game, including the time out just 6 secs before the final timeout, where Memorial was warned twice. I missed the play b/c I was watching the Memorial huddle.
That sucks to finally enforce a rule when the rule's enforcement determines the winner of the game. Any referee worth his salt should be ashamed to know that they determined the winner of a contest.
