Plus I'm having a lot of fun with you naysayers. Warning! A bunch of yall better pray HF don't go into playoffs. You think I promote HF now? oH BOY! I'll start my own radio show and demand time on the major telly stations in S.E.Texas and maybe S.W. Louisiana ;D
To be more accurate, I would call ya'll "The Hardin Jefferson Football of high school basketball"!!!  ;)
 2.
Why are you trying to convince me they should be ranked, I've already said (three times now) that I thought they should, I was just giving a reason on why that might not have been. Look at 1A Evadale, lost in the semis of the state tourny, yet in the final polls they are #2. What about the team that actually made it to the finals?  They got beat pretty bad, so because Evadale played the champs pretty dang close, I'd GUESS that's why they are ranked over the team that actually made it to the finals of state.  I could be wrong, but ---- NEDERLAND SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN THE TOP 25!!!
Bobcat, I wish you wouldn't be so evasive.... Just what are your feelings regarding Nederland?  C'mon, Man!  Get off the fence!  ;)

Its Silsbee turn to "rebuild"
Well you have forgotten about H-F and their predicted "Surgence."  (This is a word that I just coined.  It's taken from an actual word, resurgence; which means to rise again into life, activity, or prominence.  Since this is "not an AGAIN" for H-F, their life, activity or prominence cannot be resurgence.  It is therfore surgence.) ;D ;D ;D  :o (Watch my smite count on this one. 8))
What's the difference between HF and a Phoenix?  At least a Phoenix rises from the ashes once every 500 years!!!! Sorry, Dove, I couldn't resist!
 6. In other news, Hardin Jefferson will suffer through its fifth consecutive re-building year.... and make it to the state tournament.  With a little luck, another state trophy may be coming back to Sour Lake with them...... Providing the refs can tell when the final buzzer sounds!  ;)

 8.
The championship games are not predetermined on who will officiate those games. The crews who officiate the semis are evaluated and then 6 crews out of the 12 get chosen to do the 6 championship games. That's how it was explained to me by an official who has called at the state tourney.
Now that, I believe!  ;)
 9.
Here's what I'm hearing about the lottery funding education ... Basically, it's all BS ... All the money brought in by the Texas lottery indeed goes to education ... Let's say $50 million was provided to education by the lottery. Now originally, education had a budget from general funds of $100 million. So you add $100 million and $50 million and you get $150 million ... right?? Nope. Now they only contribute $50 million from the general fund instead of $100 million. That of course means that in the end, education still has its original $100 million ... A little political switcheroo there for ya ... Raise your hand if you're surprised ...
This is EXACTLY the way its been done and it is dis-honest for politicians to claim that the lottery is going to education. What the politicians should say is, "the lottery pays for education so that other monies originally ear-marked for education can pay for something else."

How many Teachers could be payed with his salary??
Hmmmm...... Was Rick Perry poor when he got into office and then became rich?  Or was he rich long before he became governor.  I'm not sure I'd put him in the same category as Butch.
...uh, how can you tell if you weren't there?
Did you read ANY of the posts in this thread? Their inside force Dunigan FOULED OUT, and Tucker had to play with 4 fouls, and then monkey business with the clock in the final seconds, etc. Also posters questioning if the Evadale coach confronted the refs... Yeah, I get the ugly picture real good. Can't you?
When I see a player fouled out, its usually because they committed more fouls.  I didn't read pages 1-4 on this thread.  I was working. Monkey business with the clock is simply poor officiating.  But "whistled to death" implies that the ref's were being lenient toward Eula's players and tougher on Evadale's.  IOW's the ref's were cheating.  I wouldn't even begin to trust anyone who claimed that unless they were at the game and saw the bad calls.... even then I have my doubts.  People tend to see what they want to see when it comes to personal fouls in basketball. The last second shot is another thing, however.
Refs dismissed. Believe me now?
I believe that a broken clock has the right time twice a day.   I believe that even a blind hog can sometimes find an acorn. I believe that those who attended the game said the ref's weren't that bad, other than the last call. I also believe that the ref's had a schedule of who's calling each semi and who's calling the championship.  Which means, these refs weren't scheduled to call the championship game and this was determined prior to the Evadale-Eula game. But I don't believe that you, ECBucFan, can tell that the ref's were awful while sitting in your comfortable chair in front of a computer. So, to answer your question..... No, I don't believe you now.

 18.
Well pupmom thought we were bashing the Coach! Nobody said he was a bad coach or a bag guy.. We were just informing all of SETXsports.com about the problem with almost everybody athletic program in the state, Need more coaches specialized in Basketball! And then she tried to say how that Freshman team wasnt stacked :D which I thought was funny
You know, HJ doesn't have that problem.    ;) But you may have illuminated a problem with the Hawk program.  Maybe our football team is not very good because we don't hire basketball coaches that are specialized in football like nearly everybody else!!!!  :D :D :D
 19.
Then you obviously did not read the pages of the Final Nederland game where the Assistant Coach was blamed for the loss because he did not tell Coach the Smith had 3 fouls.  My posting was meant to say that Coach Kilchrist knows basketball and works hard for the program. I too would like to see coaches that are hired just for basketball.  Our Varsity football program has 13 coaches, as many as college teams have.  It is outrageous the amount of money and emphasis that is placed on football.  But, my point of the post was to say that Coach Kilchrist is a great man, and he does a great job.
Pupmom, let's play a game.  Let's play like I'm a complete idiot (this isn't a hard game... many people believe that already!  ;)) and I can't find the post that claims Nederland lost to Ball because of the assistant coaches.  You'll find that part of the thread here: [Hidden Content] I read some gripes about the coaches - some ludicrous and some merely conjecture - but I don't see anyone claiming that Nederland could have beat Ball even with some good coaches.

 23.
I will try and put it to you this way, In the first playoff game , the Rebs were behind by 12 at half. Dunigan then put up 20 in the second half and domatated the boards on both ends and they won that game. So without him they would have lost that game. Then 2 games later Murphy hit 4 3s in the second half and opened up the game and they won that one so with out him they would not have won that game. That is why I said that right now they are the best 2 players in SETX> But if you wont to play one on one I would say the 2 guys that you all are talking about would be better. But basketball is a team sport, and most would say that winning means alot when it comes to saying who is the best....
Basketball is a team sport, but "SETX player of the year" is not.  I don't know what to add.  As I've stated, you've claimed that Evadale has won as a team, and each game there is somebody who steps up.  In other words, no one has consistently carried the team on his shoulders. Now granted, that is probably the number one reason that Evadale is playing in Austin this week and nobody else from the area is and that is a far greater achievement than any individual awards.  But that is not germane to the topic.
 24. Isn't Dunigan the kid that played for East Chambers last year (2009-2010)?  If so, I seem to recall him playing in the HJ Last Man Standing Tournament and he suffered something like a broken nose.  The guy played through the pain, however, and almost helped the Bucs win the Consolation Trophy.  They would have won if they had completed the most incredible play I have ever seen.  From behind the other team's goal, the player through the ball inbounds from all the way across the court... Dunigan went through a screen and tried to tap the ball in.  Why tip it in?  Because there was like .4 seconds on the clock and that's all you were allowed to do.  He came within a hairsbreadth of making the tip in!!!!!  That would have been one for the ages. If I remember correctly, Dunigan really played a good game that day, even though he was suffering through whatever injury he suffered.
 25.
This was the first time I 've seen Mexia this year and they shot the ball as well as anyone I've seen this year.#23 was unbelievable until he turned his ankle.
Yeah, but it was the clutch 3's by numbers 3&4 who nailed the lid on the HJ coffin.  My heart sank when those shots went in at the end.
