I haven't seen Mexia play, but based on how they beat Hudson a lot worse than HJ did, it appears the Hawks more than have their work cut out for them.
Yeah, I remember that game.... HJ was flat, one of their flattest games of the year (except, of course, for the Nederland game). But remember, a week ago Cleveland "made a statement" with a blowout of 40 points against who, Coldspring? The funny thing about those blowouts is, the next game still starts at 0-0. Hawks, it's time to soar, Baby!!!!
 2.

Nash keep the term "great" relative to basketball overall: region, state, various levels, not just your team, or their district. I respect your opinion, but you have to admit, good players can have great games.
Agreed, but Prudhomme performed equally well against Stafford in an overtime game just a few nights before.  But, I guess he just happened to have two consecutive great games.  If you have many more than that, you just might be better than many think.
I'm not going to argue that he doesn't have the potential. Just don't think he's there, yet. IMO
I think you are spot-on, here.  I've watched Shawn the last couple of years and I see improvement almost weekly...... so yes, there is still a lot of potential. I wouldn't call him great, because that would imply he has peaked, which I seriously doubt.
 3.

At this point, ANY of the 16 teams can win state. Takes a lot of good and a lot of luck to bring home the trophy. Nederland has been the underdog most of the yr. They've surprised (just about) everyone! The most talented team does not always win! *See Duke Nat'l Champs over UNLV in 1991?*
I agree wth everything except the asterisk.  That Duke team played in 3 straight National Championship games including back-to-back titles in 91 and 92.  I will concede that everyone expected UNLV to win after what the did to Duke in the 90 national championship, but I cant concede that Duke wasnt just as talented as UNLV was when they met in the final four in 91.
Ok, then that's easy.  Change Duke./UNLV with Univ. of Houston and NC State  or Villanova and Georgetown.
 4. BTW, where is the Dove tonight?  With this win, he can brag to his friends in Houston about that 21-3A district that his boys are in!
 5. The last state rankings (2-21-11) showed 3A looking like this:
3A 1  Lubbock Estacado (32-1) 2  Argyle (30-3) 3  Cleveland (28-4) 4  Kennedale (30-2)        5  West Oso (29-3) 6  Silsbee (30-2) 7      Liberty Hill (30-4) 8  Dallas Madison (20-12)                                  9      Burkburnett (28-3)                          10    Mexia (27-5)                                        11    Hardin-Jefferson (31-6)                                                      12  Lovejoy (25-7) 13  Prosper (26-6) 14  Pleasanton (21-8)                              15  San Antonio Houston (21-7)                                        16  Dallas Smith (21-9)        17  Seminole (20-9) 18  Somerset (20-10)                                19  Hondo (24-5) 20  Decatur (27-4)                      21  Coldspring-Oakhurst (14-3)                                    22  Sweeny (22-6) 23  Midland Greenwood (26-7) 24  Groesbeck (24-10) 25  Liberty Eylau (22-5)
Which schools are still in it?
 6.
Yes, I am too dumb to count that high!!! ::) ::)
From what I heard over the radio, it would be hard to count the Cleveland rebounds.  How many 2nd and 3rd (and 4th!) chances did they get toward the end there?  Of course, it seemed to pay off somewhat with some quick fast break points.
 7. Who would have thought that neither Cleveland nor Silsbee would be in Hunstville this weekend? There are 4 very happy teams over that!!!!
 8. BTW, what happened in this game?  I thought East Chambers looked to be rolling for a while there.  What was the key to NW's win?
 9.
I dont keep stats like steals, rebounds or blocks.  No time to keep all of that!!!
Oh, just admit it.  You can't count that high!!!!! Between Gus's steals, that center from Stafford's blocks last Friday, and Cleveland's rebounds, you'd go into circuit overload!!!! LaZeek would be LaCrashed!

With that in mind, I can understand why other guys underestimated us.  Which makes it all the more fun to beat teams like Cleveland.  It wouldn't be half as fun if HJ went into the game 15 points favorites.
Poppa- are you being one of those arrogant HJ fans with history related expectations? I always knew this group had a huge upside....yes i have seen them play bad early and midway....but I always knew they were capable...I was just poking fun at dogs a little bit quoting him from a while back...

I was afraid they didn't have that guy that can carry them on his back, like they've had the past few years.  I mean, we all knew Prudhomme had it in him, but I don't think he knew it.  His last two games have joyfully proved me wrong!!!!!
so they would've had four 3-year starters except for the injury.  i knew there were at least 4 of them.
There were 5 Super-Sophomores, if I recall correctly.  But one of the kids moved away, perhaps?

BTW, 5 trips to the Regional Tourney for HJ in 5 years!!!!   Previous 4 all resulted in Regional Final appearances also!!! ;) ;)
... and 2 out of the 4 resulted in state appearances, with one trophy!  8) 8)

 23. Those Hawks are simply amazing.  Year in and year out they continue to make me proud. Composure?  check Discipline?  check Stamina?  check Talent?  check, check Great coaching?  Well, you won't have the first 3 if you don't have good coaches..... check.
 24. Sean Prudhomme made two statements this week with 29 points (including 4 monster dunks and maybe 14 rebounds) Friday night against Stafford and then 33 points tonight against those Indians!!!!! Dude is incredible..... and only a junior!
 25. Ok, Hawk fans.... what did you guys think when it was 7-0 a minute into the game?!?!?
