I still think to this day if they woudl have made atleast 5 more free throws they would have been playing for a state championship that year. IMO free throws are as easy as you want them to be, I've seen players just staright up panic when they get the free throw line. Then I've seen other players get up there like its nothing and sink the biggest two shots of the season....its all about muscle memory
I agree with everything you say. However, sometimes, a fluke comes along. Ask LeBron how he felt yesterday when he had two shots to tie the game with the Celtics in the last 10 seconds. Sometimes the mental aspect influences the muscle memory.
True, but I also heard the ESPN announcer quote some sick percentages from Lebron when the game is near the end and the score is close..... something like 90-95% during that time. The only problem with the percentages is sometimes those "5-10%" chances actually happen.
This wasnt ANY game- it was the Celtics
Ok.............. Are you allowed to miss a shot against the 76'ers and not the Celtics?
:(
Well, you see, Dove. There's this thing called the play-offs..... and the teams that do well enough during the regular season get to continue playing basketball. It's like a big tournament, where you get to play til you lose. Someday you might find out what it means. ;) -

It was also a very heads up play by HJ when they received the back court pass from WOS that wasn't called back court. Instead of stopping like everyone else did, it was dribble, dribble, pass, and Sutherland for 3! Incidentally, I have no clue why the ref's never called back court on that play, for it clearly was.
-
Well here is how it went down...........Gus comes from the side and slightly behind and knocks the ball loose from the WOS player, his momentum carries him out of bounds. He quickly makes a turn, established himself back in bounds and stole the ball which led to a fast break layup for the Hawks. You make the call!!! ;D ;D ;D
Well, the coach from WOS certainly thinks the ref made the wrong call. He wasted a whole timeout "discussing" this dilemma with the referee. And yes, Lazeek called it right. Gus knocked the ball away from the WOS player, but his momentum sent him out of bounds. While the ball was loose, Gus stepped back in and CLEARLY re-established both feet in bounds before he reached out and grabbed the ball in the corner. 10 dribbles later and a quick back door pass found Bosha making an easy layup. Score HJ!!! Timeout WOS.

Isn't that legal, provided Gus came back inbounds completely before touching the ball again (he was the first player touching it after he came back in bounds).
Does anyone know if this ruling was correct? I thought it was, but several experts in the stands claimed that the man out of bounds can not be the first to touch the ball.
I have been told by a most reliable source that while a football player cannot do so, a basketball player only need re-establish himself with both feet back inbounds and can then access the ball. The referee made the correct call.
That's exactly what I thought.

I was actually referring to the pathetic lane violation that they called on Prudhomme on a airball shot by an OF player on Saturday!!!! But you gotta admit, when was the last time you saw a free throw come that much short?!? And then the look at Joe's face that said, "OMG, I am going to get ribbed so bad for that?"
THE HORNS ARE STILL not playing transition ball,Just seems like we are not very well prepared for a quick team alot of standing around like we are watching TV, you have contest every shot get that rebound that you are not suppose to get. When we rebound you have two to three players with their hand out for the ball, our first pass off of a defensive rebound is backwards, the guards need to be getting out on the wings pushing the ball up the court always wanting to attack instead of letting the defense set up,you can push it up and can always bring it back out if nothing is there. As a COACH , you just cant be satisfied with playing from a set offense with no movement.JUST my two cents.
You're absolutely right. If you hold up, the other team can set up their press!!!! To allow the other team to set up their full-court press on a missed shot is absolutely unforgiveable!
-
Great game, Hawks. They hustled their tails off tonight. I don't know how many passes were tipped by our defense tonight, which really extended the WOS offense. Those guys could never get in synch. BTW, on Gus's play where he tipped the ball out of WOS player's hands, then he went out of bounds but established himself inbounds before he took the ball and dribbled upcourt..... the WOS coach seemed to have a problem with that.
I will tell him. I see him from time to time. I graduated in 1980. I played football and ran track against Jackie Harris. He was a manchild.
I was on JV that year (class of '82). If you didn't like tackling him, or being tackled by him, just think how much fun it was being on the practice squad.
Another key fact in tonight's game, Prentice Lane will play. He did not play against HF the last time, nursing an injury. Prentice is playing very well of late and I see another great game from him tonight.
Is his ankle (or is knee?) still hurting? I thought I saw him almost come up lame in the last HJ game.
All I know is, I have spoken to a few of the Tiger players and bullets, you are right, Silsbee will make a statement tonight. They want to show that last game with HF was bit of a fluke. I see Silsbee winning by 25+.
When Silsbee played HJ the first time, it was a party atmosphere. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with that, for the players were loose and not uptight before the game. But when they came to HJ, they were much more focused.... none of the pre-game antics like the first game. I think tonight you're going to see that same focused team intending to put HF away early.
