Sounds like sour apples.  Give congrats to Silsbee.  They won no matter the circumstances.  Dont make excuses once the game is over, there are too many variables to say this of that, you could say the kid for Silsbee that went out of the game would have made 4 3's if he wouldnt have went out. You dont know what you dont know.
Who was giving sour apples (or grapes, for that matter?)  I didn't think anybody was claiming they lost for any other reason then they got beat.
 2. My comments on this game: 1) Great game for Prudomme - I think this was a coming out party of him that proved that he can play with the big boys.  He's often come up short during the big games, but this should be a confidence booster for him. 2) For some reason, HJ seems to be able to handle Prentiss Lane.  I always hear how good he is, but he seems to be off against HJ.  I think we've been lucky on that one. 3) Great game for the Hawks, but we let fatigue and a few bad breaks kill us.  There was one point where Silsbee scored 8 consecutive points on plays where HJ should have got the ball back (due to Silsbee foul or whatnot). 4) Persohn and Bosha should have gained some confidence from this game, as both contributed very well. 5) Sadly, I think the better team won....... But Silsbee, you let the Hawks know that they can hang with you.   You should have never let them think that!  ;)
 3.
One bit of advice HJ hates Kountze. :)
... and Silsbee doesn't?  ::)
 4.
To the contrary, you kicked the coach saying "Nederland did nothing spectacular...  They don't have a motion offense.. They just passed the bal around", The same way you kick all Nederland programs,  and you even kicked the whole community in the past!
Wow, that is a stretch to say that Soulja kicked the coach.  It looks like he's trying to point out that Central should have been able to handle Nederland's offense, but they didn't.  I wonder how many fights would occur if people walked around with the same chips on their shoulders in real life that they have on internet boards.  Lighten up, folks!
 5.
Dove secret desire is for HJ to lose by 40
I'm not sure if it could be called a "secret desire".  I'd call it his life's goal.
 6. They've got two girls that can handle the press, they've got some shooters (at 3 points and FT line) and they know how to play good aggressive defense. This game was far closer than the scoreboard showed.
 7.

Travis needs to take it light. Game not that important
I agree. It's really a done deal. Silsbee by 8. Travis can stay home
Thanks!  You just saved me the trip and the cost of tickets. 'Preciate that, Dove.  ;)
 8.
Guys, in '07, HJ won that regional final against Silsbee in OT on their way to the state title. It was the '08 regional final that Silsbee won with Nick hitting the three's.
Hey, I'm just glad my memory reaches all the way back to last week, let alone 2008.  If I'm off by a year, I figure I'm still ahead of the game.
 9.

48 hours until the newly christened "Hardin County Havok"!!
we might have to rename the regional finals game "Hardin County Heartbreak" seeing as one of these teams has to go home every year.
That's a great idea!  Hopefully, that tradition will continue!
 10.

What was it, 18-1?  And then HJ took a lead early in the 4th and was THIS CLOSE to closing the door when Jacoby Turner slipped while going for an open layup.  That would have given us a 10 point lead and I think it would have been the last nail on the coffin.  Sadly, we left the door open and Silsbee came back and beat us. Great game, though.  Grady Walters (?) lit us up that day.
Nick Walters, i think?  or the other guy was Grady or Brady Briars or something like that.
Yeah, it was Nick.  Grady, I believe, is Nick's dad.  I used to do business with him when he had the grocery store in Silsbee. But Nick hit WAYYYY too many 3's that day against us.
 11. Good Luck to both teams!!!  Hopefully this will be the game of the year....... at least until the rematch at HJ!  ;)
 12.
07 regionals, when Silsbee had us down 17, and we weren't worried.  A tad concerned, maybe...  That was my favorite game, of course, and certainly one of the best.  Every HJ-Silsbee game is great.
How far is Silsbee from Kirbyville? We have a district game at KV but it could be a blow out.......
If you ain't there by 6:30, you may not be getting in.
 14. But.... but.... but what about when HJ plays Lumberton?
 15. And let me tell all the HJ fans, don't wear your Aggies colors to the game like I did at Regional last year!!!!  Boy was that a mistake.  :o

If I wrong, then pardon me!!! ;D ;D
No, sadly, my use of "warm up" game was meant the way I said it.  I think HJ scheduled this game just to keep the wheels well-oiled before they start district.   If people take that to mean that I'm slammng Legacy, then people got WAY too much start in their jeans.   If other people have different definitions of "warm up" games, then that's there business.  If there is a "proper grammar for all basketball terms" book out there, just give me the Amazon link.  ;)  Until then, loosen up, people. And Lazeek, thanks for offering me a life preserver!  ;)
What is start in the jeans  ::) :D :D
I can't believe I missed that!!!  I re-read it 87 times!!!  Starch, dad-gummit, too much "Starch in their Jeans". P.S.  As I was typing this current post, I once again mis-spelled "Starch" as "Start".  I've got to go retrain my fingers before I mis-spill something else and embarras myself!  Ya'll may think I'm "BadSanta" in disguise!!!
 17. Diboll and Center are very close to even....home team usually wins in those.
Whats up with Kirbyville? They have to have some athletes. Do they play football only?
Yes. Sadly, that is all that is emphasized at Kirbyville.
I'm surpised at this.  They hired Brewster as Assistant Superintendent (?) recently.  He was the basketball coach at Buna, when they had a great rivalry with Kountze and he coached at Chapel Hill, where he took 1 or 2 teams to the State Tournament. And they have that incredible gym!  You would think that the focus would change at Kirbyville.
 18. Are we still on topic or did I mis-click on the "betting on golf" Forum (yawn)?
 19.
Do you not understand that LOGIC is rarely involved in these exchanges?
I know.  It's just that Spock is my uncle, and I can't rid myself of that tendency to rely on logic.  ;)  Maybe after about 1500 more posts it will pass.
 20.
Naw, thats way too easy. Legacy should pray for an average season for HJ next season ;)
I thought you were already doing that.  ;)
You dissed Legacy! Plain and simple. Now I wanna hear from the Legacy people now ;D
Should I ask my Christian Brothers to take the high road and forgive my poor choice of reasoning?  ;)

 23.
Bringing in the underclassmen huh? Hmmm? That means the new players will put pressure on the older players to perform in practice and games. Probably a good move by the coach. It keeps pressure off him for awhile. Especially if it works in the next few weeks.
... but don't you do that in the preseason and not in the middle of district against the 1st place team?!?
 24.
BADSANTA, to my knowledge, Silsbee has never had a player play in the NBA. WNBA, yes, but not NBA. Also, we have had players play in the minor leagues, but none of them made it to the majors in baseball, including my dad.
So, by this reasoning (BadSanta's) Lumberton has a better sports tradition than both Silsbee and HJ because Clay Buckholtz is a pitcher for the Red Sox?
 25.
My reply was not a knock on the scheduling, but just saw it as disrespecting Legacy. Legacy plays lots of local teams, including Silsbee (first game of the season, Silsbee won 114-57). LAZEEK, I don't pay much attention to BADSANTA's posts, but figured others knew better. ;)
No disrespect to Legacy was intended.  Kudos to those guys for the schedule that they have each year.  But you can't think that HJ figured this was going to be an even matchup, or they would have never scheduled it so close to the anticipated battle with Silsbee this Friday. C'mon, guys!  Not every comment needs to be twisted around.  I mean, this isn't the Democratic Party, now is it?  ;)
