Tigers get 3 or 4 offensive rebounds, then Garrett for Madison gets his 3rd foul.  Stall worth converts the 3 point play. Tigers up 17-14.  Tigers at the line.  Make 1. End of quarter.  Silsbee 18-14!!!! Go Tigers.

Jones to the line for 2.  Madison has two players with 2 fouls. Jones makes both.  14-12 Tigers.  Madison turnover and Tigers ball. Madison steals and ties it at 14.

Madison to the line for 2. Both free throws good.  12-12 tie. 1:04 to go.

Jones blocks the shot....... then travels.  Oops. Madison misses another 3 pointer.  O fer the first quarter. Lane gets called for a "AAW" questionable offensive charge.

Tigers get the offensive board.  Miss the shot, but DC is fouled.  Goes to the line for 2. Makes the 1st and the 2nd. 12-10 Tigers!  2:15 to go.

3:20 to go.  Madison 10-8.

Hill gets fouled shooting.  Madison's Harris has two quick fouls. 7-5 Madison.  Hill missed both free throws.  But DC got a rebound and took it all the way to the hole!

Each team has had a turnover due to the other team's press. 7-3 Madison.  5 minutes to go in the 1st.

3-0 lead by Madison. Now DC is at the line shooting 2.  1st one in.  2nd one short. 3-1 Madison.

Quick 2-0 lead for Madison. Then a foul on Stallworth.  Madison shooting 2.

Listening to the commercials, I'm wondering...... Is the Aggie War Hymn an appropriate song to play while advertising a Funeral Home?!?!?  ;)

In 2005, the Hawks were ranked  something like #5 in the state (not sure of actual ranking) and got beat by a Jasper team in the very first round.  If I recall correctly, it was Coach Davis (HJ's current assistant coach) who beat HJ.

[/quote]I agree that the officiating was balanced.  Both teams got away with some no-calls, and both teams had bad calls against them.... rather evenly, I might say.  I will say that the offensive charges in the 2nd quarter (3 of them, at least) were bad calls that put key players on the bench.  I can't say that happened to Fairfield, only because I don't know the players.  You would be the judge of that. But all in all, the officials didn't have a big impact on the game.  Even though we sat our best players on the bench, the team was able to rally and extend out to a 10 point lead.  So, pardon the pun, "no harm no foul" on the ref's officiating!  ;) BTW, good look to you guys in your upcoming season.  Are ya'll returning a lot of players?  I also heard that this was the first year in coaching for your guy.  Is that true?

[/quote]No, I'm saying, as I've heard numerous other posters on this thread, that HJ excels partly because they are so disciplined and all the players know their role.  I don't see that in Silsbee.  I'm sorry.  Great athletes.  Great shooters.  But I can't help but think that they can be a better team. But, since you've seen my reasoning (or lack thereof) and my conclusion, what would you call it?

If Silsbee goes home Thursday night, you still have a lot to be proud of (and rightfully so).  But if they hang in there for two more games and bring home the trophy, then all of Southeast Texas (including numerous Hawks fans!  ;)) will be even more proud of you guys!
