I need directions from beaumont
Go west on I-10.  When you get to nowhere.... take a left!  ;)  You're almost there! Seriously, take the Winnie exit and head south toward the Beach.  About 3 miles in, you'll see the High School on your left.  You can't miss it.  Take the left at the light.  The Gym old gym is right on the street.  The New Gym is to the right, directly in front of the football field.
 2. How about D) Orangefield E) The 2012 HF Longhorns
 3.
It can also backfire especially with kids and cause them to look past that opponent.
Yes it can.  I admit that.  Any thing you try can backfire.  That's why coaching is so fun, like a chess match.  This coach may have heard that Silsbee is going to walk away with an easy win.  His players may read SETXsports.com and were getting spooked!!!!  ;) But its just like the rankings.  After the opening tip-off, don't none of that matter!
 4.
I look at it this way. HJ and Silsbee head to head were 1-1. Against like top opponents (Silsbee, HJ, Kountze, WOS and New Waverly) it goes like this: Silsbee 4-3  with a +41 points difference (Including a +7 over HJ) HJ 4-3 with a -8 point difference Kountze against HJ & Silsbee 2-2 with a +5 points difference. If I was ranking them I would have Silsbee just ahead of HJ. kountze is tricky! 1. Kountze 2. Silsbee 3. HJ
So, the team that is .500 against like opponents is number 1, while the teams that are .571 are 2nd and 3rd. That's why rankings don't matter.
 5.
I think what ST413 is trying to say, you never want to give your opponent any added fuel to the fire that is already burning. I agree, making those kind of statements publicly really only get's your opponent pumped up more and put's more pressure on yourself.
I think those kind of statements affect your own team as well.  Your players realize that they have to step up.  But it gives them the added  bonus of knowing that their coach has confidence in them. Joe Namath didn't predict a Super Bowl win simply because he had one too many to drink, you know!
 6.
Every coach should be confident but making a statement like that in public especially at what might as well be considered the opposing teams home is questionable.
Why? It might pump up the other team?  If they ain't pumped up already, then they aren't gonna be pumped up.
 7.

Don't let this rub you the wrong way Coop but it has rubbed me the wrong way???  How is it that #1 ranked Silsbee loses to #3 HJ and to #2 Kountze in the same week in back to back games and HJ stays the same and Kountze and Silsbee just flip flop.........what a complete joke!!!!  You never have to say that you don't like HJ.........it shows in how you rank them!!!!! ::) ::) ::) ::)
That is pretty messed up though. He probably just likes to see people like me and you complain about that. and if anyone says "rankings don't matter" then why do we even have them? they matter from a viewing standpoint, I think, and should be UNBIASED!!
All I know is that rankings don't matter.  Nobody won a game simply because they were higher ranked.  If you watch the football polls every year around the BCS Series in football, the teams that spend their time whining because they aren't higher ranked are the ones that fall on their face.
 8.

My view. Silsbee has a better team. --- HJ plays better together as a team.
. Oxymoron?  Wouldn't the group that plays better as a team be considered the better team?
You are correct but if the Silsbee team were to play together more as a team,  they would beat HJ easily. IMO
U don't have the record that silsbee has without playing as a team
I was hazard to say that Silsbee played better as a team when Hill was out.  Since he's been back, they've lost 2 out of 3 games, even though he's put up great numbers. It's like we were discussing on another thread.  Against Kountze, Hill had 33 and Stallworth had 4.  That is NOT playing as a team.
 9.

LOL....No AggieLion....I had a few people tell me that last night & another today. From what I hear, it's going to be a war.
It really amazes me to hear a coach say this after seeing the Tigers.  I hope we can get out of our late game slumps the last couple of games,  I would love to see the Tigers flip flop this prediction.
I think every coach ought to be confident enough in his team to believe this.  He should also be able to project this confidence.  If he doesn't think this, then his team shouldn't be in the play-offs.
 10.
Just want an unbiased poll.........thats all!!!!!!! ;) ;) ;)
Then start your own poll. I'm sure nobody will question the results of your rankings!  ;)
 11.
They are NOT that important..........and you are right only the END OF THE SEASON matters, but it is just the fact that HJ has been SCREWED all year on the rankings.  Even when they beat Kountze this season when they were #1 and HJ was #3 the rankings changed with Silsbee being #1 and HJ moving to #2!!!!!  I have come to expect it now though!!!!!  Even the rankings last week had WOS ranked ahead of HJ!!!!!!  That was the biggest joke of all!!!!!
.... and if Chad feels that way, "So what?"  Are you going to call out everyone who has a grudge against Hardin Jefferson? Hasn't Cyrano de Bergerac been done before?  ;) And even so, doesn't that make it even more fun to see people have to eat crow when Hardin Jefferson goes far beyond what all the "experts" predicted?
 12.
Oh sorry I am wrong............HJ moved from #4 to #3!!!!!! ::) ::) ::)
Why are the rankings so freakin' important?!?!? The only rankings that matter are the final one and that is determined by how far you go in the play-offs.
 13.
I think Hill is a very talented player.  If he could learn to pass the ball on some of those drives to the basket,  Silsbee would be a much better team and he would be a much better player.  I don't think he had a single assist last night.
There's no doubt that Hill is a VERY talented player.  But the problem is, its rather late in the season for him to figure out that he does need to look for the open man.
 14.
Yeah Silsbee, Kountze and Lumnberton......hahaha.
I don't care who you are.  That's funny!
 15.
Heck I come sometimes just to watch the hecklers. The deal with the newspaper at the intro is just plain hilarious. It reminds me not to take these things to serious ,it's all in fun and just a game.
Perhaps one of the hecklers has been to an A&M game?  :D The only thing I wish I didn't see from the hecklers is their booing the other team when they come on the court (unless its others in the stands).  I've seen other teams fans give us polite applause when we enter or are announced, and then I'm embarrassed to hear boos coming from our side of the stands when the other team enters or is announced. Who knows, maybe I'm just old fashioned, but I still respect sportsmanship.
 16.
You're right ... Stallworth had 4 ... was a late night when I wrote that ...
Whether it is 3 or 4 is irrelevant.  You've got to get Stallworth more involved in the offense.  He is a hard player to match up against.  A tall player isn't quick enough to keep up with him.  And a short player will be hard-pressed to keep him off the backboard.
 17.
Stallworth wasn't held he just wasn't involved in the scheme.Hill did an excellent job of taking the ball to the bucket and drawing fouls early.Later in the game the fouls didn't come and the bigs were out of the flow for the Tigers by then.I think the Tigers and especially Stallworth will bounce back strong.
Hmmm.... Is it just me or is Silsbee more balanced when Hill was out?  I know that kid is good.... real good.... but Silsbee is much better when they are not 1 dimensional.
 18. Stallworth was held to three?  Wow!
 19.
I'm extremely proud of the Lions. Even when they were literally dragged to the ground they rallied together and pulled out the W. Walker did an awesome job sinking his free-throws and taking some surprising charges. Overall, great job from the Lions. Hope to see them bring home another much deserved state championship. ;D
I would give a great "Amen" to that!  Kountze has a potential stumbling block in New Waverly, but if Kountze is at the top of their game, they'll beat NW by at least 10.
 20.
In shape or not you basketball players to beat hj and Tarkington doesnt have that
Well said, Buc.  Well said!  ;)
 21. That's not a good way to enter the playoffs.... with 2 straight losses. Good win, Lions! Any details on the game?  High scorers?  What was the key to the Lions victory (other than the fact that they happened to outscore Silsbee).
 22. Hasn't anyone listened to Blue Dove? The HF 2012 team is the best team not in the play-offs!  ;)
 23. Who would be the winner! Why, Hardin County, of course, Bay-Bee!!!!!
 24.
Keep in mind, this was not an out right district title. Nederland and Ozen are Co-Champs.
No way!  In every thing "other than the official books", Nederland is champ and everybody knows it!  Congratulations Bulldogs! But thanks for being informative!  ;)
 25.
Over last few months there has been many arguments about who is better between the above schools.  Most of it was fueled by one person who dedicated his energies to discrediting one of those schools. If u use head to head games between the three, u find HJ at 3-1, Silsbee at 1-2, and Kountze at 1-2.  After tonite, someone will be 2-2 and someone else will be 1-3.  If u use these numbers as an indicator and don't try to blame referees , location, etc etc isn't it fairly easy to arrive at a conclusion?
All that means is that HJ (or Silsbee or Kountze) was better THAT night.  IMO, you gotta go with how far they go in the play-offs.  Head to head is less important unless you have to beat the same team every play off game in order to win state.
