  1. Just a reminder, that the forum is welcome to everyone! No discrimination. You just have to follow the rules that everyone else goes by. Everyone gets treated the same and we are always welcoming new members with open arms!
  2. No offense(I think Booster Clubs do a great job with helping), but the majority of the players I have talked to have said that they hate going to the BC events. They feel forced to go to "yet another function..." and they don't like people butting into their personal lives under the facade of a group. This isn't necessarily my opinion, but the opinion of a LOT of hockey players in this league. Every team DOES need a Booster Club, and I think it's terrific what you guys are doing. The reason why we have the Fan Club, is so that people don't have to pay and join a club just to support the team. We don't have any "officers" or "staff", because if you have too many Chiefs and not enough Indians...well...that can spell trouble. I never said that the Fan Club was the place to go to meet hockey players. It's just a place for hockey fans(either casual or obsessed) to come together and support the team. There's no special events to meet the guys. We just treat them like regular people and they appreciate it. Just like other hockey fans, we, too, spread the word about hockey. I contact the media when every Wildcatters signing is released, I post on tons of forums(almost to the point of spam, huh Coop? ), I sometimes find myself wearing hockey t-shirts(or even jerseys) just to run errands around town. Like I will always say, it doesn't matter how many groups there are; we're all here for the hockey. All of us stick up for the team and go to the games and cheer as loud as we can, no matter how bad the team loses. Now then, who's ready for some hockey?!
  3. The good news is that there are a lot of different times on different days, so just about anyone can come.
  4. Thanks for the info! All of us in the Fan Club plan to be there.
  5. Thanks for adding it, Coop! And I deleted the thread with the NHL schedule, and just added it(along with the other leagues) into the Wildcatters' schedule thread.
  6. And don't forget the Texas Wildcatters Fan Club: [Hidden Content]
  7. Hockey database profiles: Jason Beeman Keith McWilliams Beeman seems to be not only a goal-scorer, but a fighter!
  8. Nothing right now. I wish he would come here. He loved this area and the fans here, and was always one to help in the community in Lafayette.
  9. It's about time that they released these names! Now I wonder when they'll release the other one I've heard about... [Hidden Content] First time we've ever had California guys on the team, eh? 8)
  10. We have started a fantasy hockey league over at the Texas Hockey Fan Forum. Feel free to join(the league and the board)! The fantasy league last year was a blast, and the guy that won didn't know much about the game and had done an auto-draft..while those of us who carefully picked our players were not as good.
  11. [Hidden Content] The league they're in(UHL) is about the same level of the one that the Wildcatters play in(ECHL). The comment "is this a publicity stunt?" at the end is directed toward Chris Chelios and Derian Hatcher, who were playing for the Motor City Mechanics during the NHL lockout. You've got to love minor-league hockey. 8) Oh, and the goalie in the pic below is Cory Campbell, who was with the Wildcatters during training camp in 04-05:

  13. [Hidden Content] Two more signings for the 'Catters!
  14. Less than 70 days until the home opener! And less than 50 days until training camp! We(the Texas Wildcatters Fan Club) are already planning some great tailgate parties!
  15. Surprise, surprise, the Beaumont Surprise actually had something nice today! Not a really big article, but at least it was on the front page of the sports. AND it talked about how Cote will begin training camp in Milwaukee with the AHL, and the other three signed players will begin training camp with the Aeros. But the most important part was that the coach stated that training camp would be HERE starting on OCTOBER 6 and will be OPEN TO THE PUBLIC! I loved watching training camp in person! You can see the style of the players, and how the coach teaches them new to work as a team. The one bad thing was that the rink gets so darn cold during the practices! But it sure beats the heat outside!
  16. I know what you're talking about, but I don't remember the name. :? It was similar to KFDM's Sunday Sports Extra.
  17. Do you mean In The Crease that was taped at Johnny Carino's every month? That was always a lot of fun to go to!
  18. Any hockey fan can tell you that we don't expect a lot from the media. Sure, we WANT a lot from the media, but don't expect it. And I can understand that you guys don't have a lot of time -- I'm not asking for the whole sports segment to be dedicated to hockey(not that it wouldn't be awesome! )...I know this isn't Canada or anywhere in the "north"...but it's what you do with your small amount of time that matters. When there is HS football, MLB, NFL, volleyball, college basketball, pro hockey, etc... we can always guess which will come last. :x I checked the paper today, and nothing at all on this latest signing. So I can take it that they won't win the ECHL's Outstanding Media Award. Estero, FL has a whole section in their paper dedicated to the team: [Hidden Content]
  19. Aw. :? What about the next week or so?
  20. I didn't see much of anything on KBMT 12 about the 'Catters, but I probably wasn't paying much attention. KFDM 6 had something, but no video. KBTV 4 had the best, including an interview with Malcolm Cameron.
  21. That's how it sounds! I just hope that they sign Doug MacIver! I still have his autograph from when he was playing for Louisiana and had been suspended, but made the road trip to Beaumont and was in the stands. You couldn't miss the skunk Mohawk! He was signed for last season, but we all know what happened there. :x

  23. I know all about how HS football is "king" around here. But what I don't understand is how volleyball(like DG said), Lamar, softball, etc.. In other words, the Wildcatters end up coming last no matter what is going on. To quote DGScott back in June: I've been using the cockroach quote ever since!
  24. I e-mailed several people at the different stations. If this story doesn't get some GOOD coverage, then..well...I will just have to try harder. :x
  25. That would be great! I've been watching every Sports Extra.
