I see the next two or three years dc being decided between the vidor and png games with Ned, central, and ozen in the mix as well.
Hope you're right and I'm wrong, but I think you may be a tad optimistic about contending for a DC. I think it will be a fight just to get into the playoffs with what we're losing this year. IMO.

I noticed Stevenson on crutches at Sat nights game & saw a couple of injuries take place during the Central game. How about PNG? Will they be playing with all their starters?
I do not think we will be 100% in terms of players available. And while I believe in the next man up, the starters are starting for a reason. And I think this game could be closer than many think as a direct result. I still think Vidor has the Offensive Ground Game to get the win. And our defense will still be very stout, but possibly vulnerable to the big plays. JMHO
I also predict a closer game than might be expected, something like 35-21.

Yes, a must win for Central. Beat Livingston and you control your destiny, lose and you'll be scoreboard watching. (BTW Would love to see Central make the playoffs). ;)
Nederland or Vidor won't be losing another district game. Nederland will win district since their last game is against us on a short week IN Nederland...
Hope you're right as far as the Pirates are concerned, but LCM and Livingston are pretty salty and can't be overlooked.

Anybody know the extent/kind of injury to Austin Percy? Scary to seem him strapped to the cart and the time it took to get him stabilized. -
LUMBERTON @ VIDOR predictions
Tim Riggins replied to dustoff03's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Vidor should win, but Lumberton does play the Pirates tough year in and year out. Matthews is not the type to run up the score, so I'm thinking the Pirates will not hit the 40's in this game, more like 31-7. -
Thoughts about Vidor/Ozen game
Tim Riggins replied to incognito's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Good points, lots of adversity to overcome in this game, making the win even sweeter. Ozen is a team to be reckoned with. -
It sure is.
-
Hope so, he was really missed last night. Quirante had to carry too much of the offense.
-
Different team I know, but last year we only managed 14, and that was enough to win.
-
Toss up with a slight edge to LCM.
Vidor defense will be too much for Ozen. Vidor settles down and makes a statement with this one. Vidor - 31 Ozen - 10
I think 31 points may be optimistic unless Moore is back to take some of the load off of Quirante. I heard he is out for the Ozen game as well. Anybody know?

Easy answer.
Not to nitpick, as you make an excellent point with Coach Neumann's success, but Vidor has gone to the playoffs 3 times in Jeff's tenure as head coach, in 2000, 2009, 2011. If you go by success, that answer seems to be no contest. I don't know where Nederland has any more D1 players (since that seems to be the standard) than Vidor (or anyone else). Nederland has been to the playoffs 14 times in the last 15 years and Vidor has been twice in that time frame. I would say that about 35+ playoff wins in 15 years tends to point to getting the most out of a team without much big time talent.
-
No, I don't see a district championship or for that matter a playoff spot for either of those teams this year. However, as we've seen over the years, in this district, you'd better not overlook anyone.

Does Vidor have what it takes to win their 1st Championship?
I don't think it is their first championship. In the current 20-4A but I believe they went to the playoffs in the early 60's and late 70's and back then, only the DC went to the playoffs. Surely someone will pop up with the right answer.
I believe in 1978 Vidor was Co-Champs and we played Aldine Nimitz over in the Astrodome. That's as far back as I know, not sure about the deep run in the 60's.
I'll pop up with the right answer. In 1964, (I know, a long time ago), Vidor won district 9-AAA, then won in bi-district over Channelview and quarterfinals over Lamar Consolidated. Tied San Marcos 21-21 in semifinals. No OT then, penetrations, (inside the 20 yard line), were first tie-breaker, then first downs, then total yardage. San Marcos advanced 5-4 on penetrations. Vidor held a decisive edge in both first downs and yardage. San Marcos lost in the championship game to the Bill Bradley-led (now Lamar defensive coordinator) Palestine Wildcats. 1978 was an outright district championship win. Beat PNG at their homecoming that year and beat French the last game of the season to clinch the title. BTW, I don't necessarily think the winner of the Vidor-Ned. game wins the district title, but they will have an advantage. Ozen, Central, Livingston will have a say and PNG, LCM can not be overlooked.

I figured this to be a much closer game, Pirates played with something to prove and took it to CB. Great road win and good to hear about lack of injuries. -

As mentioned-- 0-2 deceiving. Option running game. Some good standout players. Good size. Good speed. (Surprised me for sure. Not that that says much. ;)) DE excellent! Pass game virtually non-existent. How's Vidor's balance?
Vidor leans a bit more to the run game.
This may be the understatement of the year. I know the Pirates did not throw a pass last night. Did they in week 1? It is just a question, not knocking your offense at all. Vidor is a great power running and misdirection offense with a solid defense.
Pirates threw 2 passes in week one, one int. one completed. I look for them to throw 3 or 4 against CB, maybe more if JohnBoy Smith is back. -
