Yeah, Pirates travel to Clear Brook next week. Looks to be a stern test going by what CB has done the first two weeks. -

After Clear Brook took LaPorte to OT before losing last week, are you surprised that Seven Lakes won, or that the score was that close? -
Some high scoring, non-blowout type games in 4A last night, 70-57, 57-56 and 55-46 to name 3. Defense anyone?

Santa Fe at Vidor Game Thread/Vidor wins 41-0!
Tim Riggins replied to WOSgrad's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I agree about the perspective. Sante Fe didn't give up, but the competition level was like freshman vs varsity. Still ,to give up only 23 yards total offense, (8 yards rushing on 40 carries) and 5 first downs, all against backups in the 4th quarter is still impressive. -
WO-S record there 81st shutout in the schools history

'Stangs have always been known for defense, this stat re-affirms it and yes, they should add to the total this season. -
Angleton vs Montgomery thread- Angleton wins 28-18!!

Sounds like Montgomery gave Angleton all they could handle. Good luck to the Bears this year, was very impressed with their "never give up" attitude and sportsmanship in the playoffs last year. -

Impressive that Sante Fe did not pick up a first down until the 4th quarter with the backup players in. Still could not get anything going. Running game looks good again with 4 or 5 players getting carries with the first team offense. Tamayo has a strong leg as kicker, don't know about punting since Pirates never had to punt. -
4A, DII Champ Game/Aledo vs. Manvel/ALEDO WINS STATE!

3 straight championships for Aledo. Losing 10 of 11 starters on offense for next year though. 2012 looks to be a rebuilder for the BearCats. -

Exclamation point TD for Aledo after Manvel called TO with 57 seconds left. 49-28 -

JG for the first down, 2:25 left, should do it for Aledo. -

Aledo has been impressive and has shown to have more weapons to go along with JG. BTW, Manvel's O-Line is huge! -
Good luck in your game this weekend Coach and congratulations on a great season! Hope it continues.
I've never seen as opposing coach address a team like that. We are very proud and lucky to have a coach like Coach Rourk. This is his first year at Angleton after spending 6 years at Needville and I remember him saying at the board meeting when hired that he was going to continue the winning tradition and take it a step further and he has certainly has. He has put together a great coaching staff and not only is he top notch coach but as you see in the video and heck of an person. That was very cool and that's what Texas high school football should be about.
Indeed, very classy. Angleton is fortunate to have Coach Rourk leading your young men, he seems to be setting a fine example.

He did have some great schemes and was defensive coordinator for the 2000 playoff team. My youngest son played for him and absolutely loved playing defense for the man.
-
Thanks Coach Hatch and to all outside of Vidor who supported the Pirates. The support was definitely noticed and appreciated!
-
Will be pulling for Angleton and their classy Coach Roarke all the way. I never predict scores, but 45-35 sounds about right for this one.
Pirates 2009. Picked to be district champs and went down the wire with Central and got beat and never really recovered from that loss and loss first round in the playoffs. Biggest line i've ever seen at Vidor that year and 3 running backs that had 800 yards a piece.
+1. -
If Dawson can score 33 on Nederland's defense, then they can score a bunch on the Wildcat defense, not saying they will, just saying it looks like they have the ability. Angleton's offense can put up a lot of points though so this one has all the makings of a shootout, may come down to who scores last wins the game.

Appreciate the kind support from our district neighbors, it's been a great ride and it was sad to see it end tonight. Go Bulldogs, Go Panthers!
Speaking of Quandre Diggs, he was on the Angleton sideline tonight wearing his Angleton jacket cheeering on his former teammates after his huge game he had Thursday night over the Aggies.
Huge game indeed, must have been an inspiration for the Wildcats to have a distinguished alumni like Quandre back on the sidelines. Congratulations on the win, y'all have a bunch of offensive playmakers and an opportunistic defense to take advantage of mistakes. Good luck from here on out.
