I agree with Matthew Deaver of Silsbee. Just a sophomore and does double duty with tennis as well.

We need to keep our team as ONE, not divide them. Every player on the team plays a part in the success of the Lady Tigers. Even players who don't contribute very many minutes on the court play a crucial role in getting the team ready during everyday practices. Let's continue to support all of the Lady Tigers for all of their efforts.

I have seen hundreds of girls basketball games over the years and played in many myself, but last nights game has got to be the absolute best game I have ever witnessed. Brittany Scott is a tremendous athlete and a c l a s s act! My hat is off to her parents because I know they had a hand in that. Coach Orebo and the Lady Mustangs played great and you all should be proud. It was hard to see them lose after battling all night like they did. Congratulations to Coach Killam, Coach Franks, and the Lady Tigers! I am so proud of you for fighting back even when you were down.

I watched a high school girls game recently with three refs. They did a great job. I am sure people will say there were a few bad calls, but nothing that upset the game in any way. Two days later, I watched one of these same refs at a jr. high boys game and he didn't seem to remember what traveling was and back court was a mystery to him. He even handed the ball to the opposing team under the basket and when they tried to throw it in and hit the backboard, he gave it to the other team. What is that all about? I am not one to call foul on referees, but this was crazy. He had a first year ref working with him that he was supposed to be mentoring, but how can someone learn under you if you aren't doing the right thing. I also agree with Birdman. The game has gotten too rough. I heard of two junior high girls in Northeast Texas who were ejected after throwing punches. This was a result of the officials letting the game get way out of hand. I think there needs to be a better recruiting system for referees. There are plenty of people who need the money and who know the game. Maybe the chapter just needs to get the word out in a better way. On the bright side, we have a tremendous amount of talented and experienced officials in our chapter that I am happy to see when they walk in the door. I know they have a thankless job, but we do appreciate them and the job they do.

It would be great to have you at a game Tigers12. You would really enjoy it and I am sure you would be quite surprised at what these girls can do.

I think coaches are not only supposed to teach the game, but also to teach life lessons to their athletes. The big picture is "How did you do in life" not "How many points did you score" I was at the game and didn't know anything about what happened until midway through the 1st quarter. If those girls that were playing for Orangefield weren't the "superstars", please don't tell them because they don't know it. They played SUPER and should be applauded for their efforts. Any team would be proud to have girls that could play like that off the bench! I was definitely impressed. Good job Coach.

Coach Killam is a great guy and always has something nice to say. We are glad to have him. I have known most our girls since they were in elementary school and these girls have always had great personalities. Some are soft spoken and some are loud, but none of them are arrogant. I think they realize that every game is a battle and your opponent fights just as hard as you do. In victory or defeat, you should always display good sportsmanship.

Ang is a great girl. Very soft spoken. Talks more on here than in person. Thanks for being so nice to her and our other girls.

Where were you sitting Bleed Orange? I was on the fifty on the Silsbee side. Really was a good, hard fought game. All of the girls played their hardest. I am already looking forward to the rematch. Congrats to the Lady Bobcats and the Lady Tigers for an awesome district opener!

Way to go Harp! You earned this!

I always enjoyed watching this young man play ball and run track in high school. He always seemed to have a good attitude and was a good sport as well. I talked to him after a very close Silsbee/Jasper basketball game and he was very polite and gracious as I complimented his effort and sportsmanship during the game. I am so happy to see him achieving his goals at college. Continued good luck Sean!

William Harper Silsbee Awesome game Friday night

William Harper--Silsbee Works hard on Offense(QB), Defense(Secondary) and Special Teams Was great fun to watch in the Columbia game!

Silsbee still only has 9 girls on the team including the one who made honorable mention. I think you are counting Coach Thornton's honor as Coach of the Year in your count of our girls.

Harp put on quite a show tonight. He gave everything he had to give and a little more. He is a team leader, a superb athlete, and a great kid.

We may have come home with broken hearts, but we don't have our tails between our legs. We walk tall with our heads held high showing the TIGER PRIDE that got us this far. Our boys played great. The Columbia boys did a great job and it was an exciting game from both sides of the bleachers. This year may be over, but we will be behind the Tiger football team next year cheering our heads off through every game. See you on the hardwood.

We are leaving for the game and just wanted to wish all teams, coaches, players and fans GOOD LUCK!!! I hope everyone makes it home safely with a VICTORY and a smile. A special shout out to all of the 21 AAA teams. We are with you all the way!

i am not sure this list is complete. I heard there were more HF girls than this list indicates. I believe Silsbee ended up with 9 players on the list, not 10.

Splendora came to play and those guys were very impressive. Many times the play was already over before I knew who had the ball--great job of misdirecting the defense (and the fans in the bleachers). I had fun watching the game and although I am glad my team won, I am sorry the Wildcats had to lose after playing like they did. Congrats Splendora! Thanks for waking those Silsbee Tigers up and helping them realize that in the playoffs there are no sure things and no team can be overlooked. Go Tigers!! We are behind you all the way!!!!!

Congrats Coach Killam, Coach Franks and the Silsbee Lady Tigers!!!! Y'all took down WOS, K'Ville and Lumberton, that should move you up in the SETXsports poll! Keep your heads on right and keep playing defense. :wink:
