  Have not heard much on updates as applications go. When the football/AD job was open, the list of applicants was posted.  Hope they make a wise choice.  I guess the summer baseball (Connie Mack) will be starting, hope the have a new coach to watch some of the games to see whats coming up next year.  I heard a few kids are'nt playing.  Hate to hear that, the more you play with the kids you play HS ball with the better the team will be.  I guess some are looking at greater things and had such a good season, they don't need it.  Did hear that most key players are playing.

      I noticed there are no CE King kids anywhere on the All-Dist teams.  Whats up with that ?  I thought each team had to be represented.  Even NF had a few.  CE King had a few solid players.

  I wonder if BH will go out of district or will it be internal.  Hope they open the search and see what's out there and hires a full time baseball coach.  Baseball coaches have to have thick skin.  Baseball is a very cut-throat sport, you can say what you want but at the end of the day most everybody (not all) are looking at what their kid is doing and as much as we preach team, to most parents it is a individual game.  A baseball coach puts 9 starters on the field and he has 3 or so parents so far up his rear it is shameful and then you have the arm-chair QBs that have never played a sport in their lives, but they are a expert on the game and log onto forums and give their expert opinions on how teams should be ran. and gripe in the stands.  (I played, but maybe I'm turning into one of those)  Then you have the ones who kids did not make it or not getting playing time and they blame the coach. You do have a few that support the coach, stay out of site and and just let the man do his job to the best of his ability and do what he gets paid to do.  It's a tougher job than most would realize. I'm sure Stalbaum has had to deal with these issues for 20 plus years and this year was no different from the others.  He is a good man and I wish him the best.  I hope we get a true baseball guy.  If this school wants to go to the next level, they need to commit and get the best guy they can find, just like they did in football.  I hope the Poole and Gage and the school board get on the same page and get it done.

    I know football is king, and nothing wrong with that, but I think only about three kids that started that are returning play football.  I know Leggett, Long, Bonnin and a couple of others play all year around, but you can play football and still play some summer ball or hit on your own or go throw.  I really think this year you will have more kids involved in summer and fall baseball and with a off-season program for kids who do not play football, it will make a huge difference.  I think BH is headed down the right track; it will just take time to see the results. 

    I agree with those statements, we have the talent and now we will hopefully have year around baseball program at BH, so let’s just wait and see what happens.  I do agree the practices need more than what they do, but if the kids are not getting enough work in , there is nothing stopping them from working out on their own after practice to get better, go the extra mile.  I see some kids up on the wknds hitting, but most do not pick a bat up on the wknd once district starts.  If BH wants to go deep into the play-offs, all of the varsity players need to find a summer program and all need to play together in the double header league and need to play fall ball as well.  They need to go to instructors like Krug and go to pitching lessons and run and lift in the off-season.  Don't put it all on the coach, show heart and self motivation and push yourself to get better, instead of blaming everyone else of the short-comings of the season. Talent is not enough these days, it takes going the extra mile, because I know other teams are.  Not saying the load should be lifted off of the coach, or make his job easy, but if you want to be great you have to get more than a team practice in, work out on your own as well, show you want to be out there.  I could have heard a pin drop in the dug-out most of the time this year.  That has to change and there has to be kids stepping up to push each other and I agree having a coach in the dug-out to get these kids motivated.  I really think that things will improve, I hope I'm right.

  I'll take some crawfish with my crow, I thought after Crosby won and GP whipped PNG, 19-4A was going to take 2 out of 3.  I really thought KWP would take LCM.  GCM went in as the underdog to Nederland, so had a good feeling Nederland would win it out.  But the GCM vs. Nederland was probaly one of the best games of the year, but 20-4A came out on top.  Yes I jumped the gun, and eating some words.  There were some good games, but 20-4A proved to be stronger this year. 

  Come on GCM, keep 19-4A rolling,   GOOD LUCK and SPANK the DOGS

  Looks like 19-4A may not have been that down this year, they are beating up on 20 4A, and MAN, Coach Stalbuam had a team mostly of sophomores and Jrs. and were in the hunt for the play-offs in this district.  I know that BH had a ton of talent back in the day, but they still have a ton of talent and it isn’t 3A anymore.  Last year BH had mostly a senior team in a young district, this year BH was young and most teams returned everyone from last year.  Coach did a great job, and supported these kids and showed confidence in this young team.  10 year streak was broken, but it was a 10 year streak, give the man some credit, he has earned it.  Sad that this man does not get any credit.  I hope when Coach Stabuam decides to leave that other coaches that may be interested in this job do not read this forum, and see what some of our fans are like. Good Job This Year Coach Stalbuam,  You did a great job with this young team and know you will have them ready for next year and BH will start another 10 year run.

     GMC did what they had to do, 2 out double, solo HR, another big hit, BH did not get what they needed when they had a chance.  We played small ball against Crosby and it paid off, but with bases loaded 0 outs and you have 3,4,5 hitters coming to the plate, 3 hole hit a HR earlier,(K'd)  1 out,  4 hole is hitting over .400 for the season and (Did get a good hit,RBI) 5 hole hitting close to .400, had come through with clutch RBI's all season, (K'd) 2 outs, then 6 hole comes up 2 outs ,has a base hit earlier, really cannot do anything but swing away, can't lay down a sac bunt now. K'd. Game over.   We watched too many pitches from GCMs pitching.  Umpire might have called a few strikes that were balls, but there were some pitches right down the pipe that were watched.  Butler is too good to let him get ahead in the count, you have to be ready to hit the first strike he throws.  Good Luck GCM. It's a long time until next year for the Hill.  BH has a good looking future with almost it's entire starting line-up coming back.  Hats off to Tyler Lyday, what a great High School player , BH baseball will miss him and well as all of the srs.  Tyler will play some where at the next level, good luck.

  BH hit the ball hard last game just could not find a hole. great defense on GCM's part, they will have to do it again.  Very evenly matched teams, GCM has the long ball threat and has the ability to bust it open, BH will nickle and dime you death.  Not going to make a prediction, could go either way. As pitchers go, I think you will see both Leggett and Long.  BH better come out swinging, and learn how to hold on to a lead if they get it.
