Thank you very much.  They have a hard enough time doing what they are "supposed experts" at.  This is the last thing they need to attempt.

Sad but that is what Butch does.
Did you complain when Bud Leonard Stadium used Houston contractors?
Don't display your lack of knowledge here dove.  This center that BISD is building is OUR LOCAL TAXPAYERS MONEY.  We funded it and no one else.  BISD has made plenty of mistakes throughout so it is obvious to question them. On the other hand the Lamar Stadium was largely privately funded but also funded by the STATE.  Not local.  Anything else?
I don't think Butch World is a mistake. It adds value to BISD's educational support system. It will bring in extra dollars to the economy in several ways. BISD is definitely managing your monies to the fullest.
You are on the good stuff again.  Look at his salary.  They aren't managing anything to the fullest!

 4. I am not gonna be specific in this situation because the kid is a local kid and I support all local kids but to suggest there is a good ole boy system when it comes to playing time in collegiate athletics is simply a joke.  If you did coach D1 sports you guys were not very good. A coach may let a kid walk on the team every now and again because he knows a coach but when it comes to playing he or she plays the player that gives them the best chance of winning.  Sorry that is the way it is in all sports at the collegiate level.
 5.
Guard Mike James is the real deal. If, IF, they can come together they have a chance at SLC tourney. Deepest and most talented team Roc has had by far.
I have heard this every year for 5 years.  Hope it is true this year.

 7. Remember, ray doesn't plan the offense!
 8. you beat me to it...............that is funny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!LOL!!!!!!!!
 9. If we are lucky enough to land JJ that will all change next year.  It will suddenly make our offense look a ton better!

Am I excited about the home OOC schedule? Nope, but I'll make as many as possible and encourage all the true LU basketball fan's to do the same as it is the conference schedule that matters the most and the guys chose to attend Lamar so they deserve our support.
I must admit I am a hair concerned about the schedule and amount of JUCO's we recruited this year.  I will be there in full support though!
Yea, you never know about some of the JUCO's; remember James Davis? What a waste of talent!
He was. I am just speaking of the long term viability of the program.  I am worried the combination of jucos and the schedule is an attempt to post 20 wins at the sacrifice of the long term result.  However, he knows far more than I do so ill trust and still think roc can do it.

I DO know what Brian Mayper told Taylor. Yes, he did get a try-out. But, he was told some things that would hamper anyone. If you want the whole story, you can be a man and call me at 727-1430!!! Mayper and his staff are not telling you the whole story because he picked their kicker. Coach Woodard saw Taylor and said that he would offer him something. Then, all of the sudden, Mayper said NO. What's up with that??
Not gonna get in to this with you and play he said she said.  There is always more to the story on both sides.
As I said earlier tell us all what you know since you know so much about the situation?  Enlighten the rest of us.  So far I have seen nothing but blah blah blah.   Like I said earlier there are 3 sides to the story.......The coaches side, Trahan's side and in the middle is the truth.  I say that is every situation there is. Also you started THIS so grab your balls and finish it.  You want to come on this site and call Trahan out and say that he screwed around then present proof.  Your still saying there is more to the story well YOU were not there so you have no clue what the story is.  You are getting second or third hand information.
I did not start this.  There was another thread about how stupid the Lamar coaches were for not signing him.  If you will read back in this thread someone else brought this up.  I responded because bashing the coaches gets old.  All I said is there was more to the story and that is not for this board to know.  Bottom line is in college sports if the coaches think you are good enough they will have you.........if not they won't.  It is the business of college athletics.  I have been there and done it.  Just how it is.  Like it or not.
You did start this with when you called Taylor out for screwing around.  If that is not starting this I don't know what is.  You called him out by name when you have no clue yourself.
Did you hear Trahan bash the coaches???  No he doesn't even get on here.   You keep saying there is more for to the story and there very well may be but it isn't one sided either.  There are things that the Coaches told Trahan that people don't know but you don't see him on here talking about it.  Maybe you need to get your facts straight before you come on a forum and down a kid you probably have NEVER met.  That gets OLD also people downing kids who have talent.  Coaches have agendas too and it isn't always for the better of the team.  Sometimes it is the good ole boy system.   Also Coach Woodard thought he was good enough.
Coaches have agendas to and it is not always for the better of the team............do you really believe that?  This is COLLEGE SPORTS........not high school.  College coaches get the BEST players they can because they HAVE TO WIN or they will get FIRED.  There is no good ole boy system when it comes to competing on the  D1 level.  Again......I know I did it.  Until you have been there people just don't understand.  They don't care who you are or where you came from.  It is all a results oriented business.  I apologize if I offended you.  It was not my intent.

JJ was a great HS QB and received scholarship offers from several schools. He chose WVU for some reason and it probably wasn't the best decision. They had Geno Smith who is a sophomore stud. He is 6'3, 210 and was a Parade High School All-American after his senior season at Miramar High School in Miami, Fla. This season he has passed for 1358 yards, 14 TD's and 2 int's. He has rushed 38 times for 143 yards. Now, JJ isn't the only college football player to transfer. Heck, Troy Aikman transferred from OU to UCLA. Was he a quiter?  ::)
No, he wasn't a quitter, he broke his ankle in a game vs Miami after he led OU to wins earlier that year vs Kansas St., Minnesota, and #17 Texas. Once he broke his ankle Switzer had no choice but to revert back to the wishbone, where as a "FRESHMAN" a guy stepped in and went on to win them a national championship against Penn St. So the reason he transferred wasn't because he couldn't cut it, it was because Switzer couldn't take the job away from the kid who stepped in and won them a championship. Got anymore questions?? LOL Or excuses??
I know the reason he transferred to UCLA as I'm a HUGE Dallas Cowboys fan. Besides Aikman they had Marcus Dupree at TB. So Aikman wasn't the only reason they were running a pro style offense instead of the wishbone. Dupree was recruited by  UCLA, Texas, Alabama, Mississippi State, Georgia, Oklahoma, Colorado, LSU, Southern Mississippi, and Pittsburgh. He chose OU after a visit by Billy Sims. Coach Switzer decided to switch to the I formation to better utilize Dupree's abilities. So, it wasn't Aikman they changed the offense for it was Dupree. There are hundreds of college football players who transfer schools for one reason or another. That was the point I was attempting to make. Are they all quiters?
No they are not.  This kid has a dream of play QUARTERBACK at the college level.  It is his dream and no one else.  If he did not think he could fulfill that at West Virginia(again they have a sophomore and a frehsman ahead of him) than that is not quitting.  It is moving on to fulfill a dream and get better.
Heck yes it would help recruiting. He would be transferring from a FBS conference school and is a top dual threat QB meaning he can run and pass. That will make the OL look a lot better. Anyone think Lamar (Coach Woodard and co) will give Willie Jefferson (dismissed from Baylor last week) if he were to request a transfer here an opportunity. I know it would be a high risk with him but after talking to a co-worker who lost a scholarship offer to Oklahoma State due to getting busted with cocaine in high school and I know it is personal stuff here but I had to go to drug rehab twice. I think he could change if he wanted to but it would not be easy and he should be on a one strike and you are out situation. If my co-worker didn't confide his pass to me I would have never guess he had a problem because he is highly thought of at the place of my employment. I didn't share with him my past because I was at work and I didn't want the conversation to go into which person had the best stories to tell.
I am all about giving Willie another chance.  I agree it should be a one strike policy but I think Lamar can help Willie just as much as Willie can help Lamar.  That is what is important here. Also, Jeremy Johnson is freakish athlete that is a very good QB.  Many major D1's would have let him play QB but here we are now.  If we get him it will not only help recruiting it will instantly make us better.
 18. If Taylor Trahan wouldn't have screwed around he may have made it.  Coaches gave him 3 different chances.  There is more to that story than everyone is presenting!
 19.
Somehow losing brings out our alter egos.
its amazing.
 20.
Sleepy, there is no doubt that RG is a stud but at the QB position it is best to stay all four years. Compare the guys that left school for the NFL early and the one who played as a senior in college. There is a better percentage of QB's starring who played as a senior. If you are talking about Art Biles, look at Kevin Kolb with the Eagles out of UH. He played for a great team in Stephenville, Texas in high school so he was ahead of the game (knowledge of Art Biles system) when he went to Houston and starred as a freshman.
i agree totally with you on staying.  However the kid is graduating this december so he may decide to leave to try the NFL as he has dreams of being a lawyer so he wants to get to the NFL ASAP and see if its for him.
 21. wrong.  They do offer athletic scholarships. Nice try though!
 22.
Griffin will not be leaving early for the NFL. He is a very good college QB, but NFL?? Think Pat White! The reason for my statement about not being recruited as a QB, was because I read when he signed with WVU that one of the reasons for doing so was because they promissed a shot at QB and others had not. 2 years to groom at Baylor under Briles and behind a similar QB in Griffin wouldn't be a bad thing! I wish him well. And hope for our sake (local fans) he is real, real homesick and chooses LU! ;D
Did you just compare Pat White to Robert Griffin?  You are displaying a severe lack of football knowledge if so.  Robert Griffin is a passing QB that happens to be very fast and trust me when I say there will be a possibility of him leaving after next year.  A few stats to chew on for you. Pat Whites Senior season at WVU 191 rushing attempts for 1,109 yds Passing 180-274-7 ints 1842 yds 21 tds 153.5 yds per game Pat Whites Junior season at WVU 197 rushing attempts for 1,423 yds Passing 144-216-4 ints 1724 14tds 132.6 yds per game Robert Griffins freshman year 173 rushing attempts 843 yds Passing 160-267-3 ints 2,091 yds 15 tds 174.2 yds per game Robert Griffin this year through 6 games(he missed 80 percent of last year and the three teams he played were bad so I excluded those) 55 rushing attempts for 288 yds Passing 132-205-2 ints 13tds 1,735 yds 289 yds per game If baylor makes a bowl here are griffins projected stats for this year. 3,757 passing yards 28 tds and 624 rushing yards.  Hardly Pat White Robert griffin will throw for more yards in these 2 years as a college QB than Pat White did for his entire career(he started all 4 years so it is a fair comparison).  Robert Griffin is a passing QB who happens to be very fast.  Robert Griffin is averaging under 9 rushes per game.  Half of which are scrambles.  Pat white averaged 15 rushes per game.  Sorry buddy.  2 TOTALLY different QB's!
