*OF vs. Newton Updates/Newton wins! 62-40
Bobkat replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Hats off to Newton...they have a good football team and I see them making a long run in the playoffs. That #11 can fly, he's one of the best I've ever seen. Course we didn't tackle at all last night, but #11 had a lot to do about that. I think Newton will be fine, their defense will get better. I can't imagine trying to prepare for our offense. Newton at times had no clue who had the ball and neither did the fans in the stands...oh and the officials too. They blew the ball dead twice last night thinking our fullback had the ball up the middle, instead our QB had the ball on the outside. I think it was a good game for both teams to play a game like that last night. I also think Orangefield's defense will get better. All district DE Luke Gunstream(#44) hasn't played since he hurt his knee in the Buna game. He's dressed the last two games but hasn't played, he'll be back for district and he's a difference maker, we miss him right now. Also last night #3 Rylan Cook didn't play because he was sick all week. He played well last week returning a int for a TD and he's a hitter. He'll be back too...and it didn't help that our middle LB Josh Shores(#21) got hurt right before half and didn't play the 2nd half. He's a big part of our defense and it showed even more after he left the game. Not that this would have changed the outcome, but we could have got a couple more stops here and there. The bye week couldn't come at a better time for us, we'll heal up and be ready for the Hamshire Fannett Longhorns when the come to town in 2 weeks!!! Overall, I couldn't be more proud of my Bobcats. We actually had our chances at winning that game last night. We played well enough to win but couldn't get it done. It's a 49 to 40 game with 7 minutes left!!! It also makes me proud to hear our opponents notice the changes in our program. Coach Huckabay is a heck of a coach and we're extremely happy to have him. Our kids believe again and now after last night that belief should be even stronger. Go Bobcats!!! -
Yes yall did...if you met Granger at the coin toss you met me too...I was number 55. We were the two captains for that season and basically we were 2 of the 3 players that returned on offense that year. We played yall pretty tough in the first half...yall were up 21-14, but really took it to us in the 2nd half. Final was 42-14 I believe!!!

I was a junior too...played center on that team. We were huge too, I was the smallest guy on the line that year. Had two all state lineman on that team and we just ran right at people...3 yards and a cloud of dust!!! Then when people would continue to stack the box, Granger would go up top on people. Very good team!!!

Hey guys, believe me we know what we'll be up against come Friday night. There's not anyone from Orangefield talking smack here...I don't think blackflag is from Orangefield either. I know we haven't played a WOS, Jasper or Kirbyville, but you play the schedule your given and you do your best to get better each week. That's what these kids have done. This isn't the same old Orangefield team, our kids now believe that they can compete with anyone...that's not being cocky, that's just a change in attitude. In the past this would be a let's just keep it respectable game, but these kids now believe they can win...nothing wrong with that. Coach Huckabay has done a tremendous job with not only the x's and o's but with the attitude and discipline of this team. We don't turn the ball over, we don't get many penalties, and we finally have an offense that believes on any given play we can take it to the house. We're not big, we're not fast, but we play extremely hard and this shallow back offense is perfect for our kids. Now to beat Newton we'll have to play our best game and hope the Eagles are looking past us. Will that happen, I don't know. But I do know our kids will play hard and play with confidence. If our offense can move the ball and eat up clock, we might have a chance. If we go 3 and out all night it will be a long night. Either way this will be a good game for us to see where we're at. Coach Huckabay made a comment last night after the game...he was asked if he thought we could beat Newton...he said he wouldn't get on the bus if he didn't think Orangefield could win. That's the difference in this year and in years past...We Believe again!!!

Orangefield 9th 50 Nederland 9th B 0

Kingwood Park beat LCM, not sure of the scores!!!
-
SURE WILL!!!
-
Orangefield 3-0 over East Chambers
-
Like I said in an earlier post...last team with the ball could win this one!!!
-
Turnovers will be the key to this game. If Liberty puts it on the ground, Orangefield wins. I think Orangefield has turned every turnover into points this year...and they haven't put the ball on the ground many times this year if any. I know it's only two games, but the Cats are very disciplined in that area and I see that continuing...knock on wood Cats!!!
-
If Orangefield's defense plays like it did against Buna in the 2nd half, I think the Bobcats have the edge. If not, this could be the last team with the ball wins type game. Orangefield 38 Liberty 28
-
Now thats funny right there I dont care who you are! Orangefield top three (NOT). Keep thinking that Buddy!!!

Orangefield 9th 7 Buna 9th 6 Orangefield JV 27 Buna JV 16

I played at Orangefield and was on the varsity for 3 years...not once did I ever practice in full pads on a Thursday. It was always shorts, shoulder pads and helmet on the game field. We'd walk through everything we had worked on for the week and do special teams. We'd also end every Thursday practice with our two minute offense drill...that was about it!!! -
OF 3 Buna 2

Sorry Buna and Orangfield fans! You got left off pickem
