  1. I believe they were something like 5-11 going into this game, but I did see where they played in a couple of big tournaments and played some pretty good teams. But with that said we couldn't have beat anyone tonight the way we played. We came out flat and they couldn't miss. I believe it was 22 to 4 after the 1st and we never could catch up. If this team doesn't step up and get on the same page it's going to be a disappointing season. I was very upset with out lack of intensity tonight and lack of effort. I know we got behind big early, but the girls just didn't compete tonight. Oh and I guess maybe we should be counting our blessings about our officials in the area, what I witnessed tonight in both the JV and Varsity games was pathetic.
  2. I was at this game and I'm neutral...I actually witnessed HJ pull the ball out on several occasions in the second half when they would have had sure layups. I didn't see a thing wrong with the way this game was played or coached. Several kids saw the court from HJ...I haven't seen this group play much so I don't know who starts and who doesn't...but I'm pretty sure the girls that played the second half were not starters. The HJ fans even looked to me to be rooting for the Cats to score late in the game!!!
  3. hjhawks the only common opponent so far has been Huffman...Orangefield won that game 66-40, I think yall won by about that much as well. Should be a battle again this year with the Lady Hawks!!!
  4. Any updates on the games that were played this afternoon?
  5. They switched those games so Kirbyville can go to their playoff game tonight!!!
  6. Got a feeling this game might be postponed till later in the year. Not positive on that, just a hunch. Orangefield's volleyball team is in the 3rd round of the playoffs and will most likely play on that same night(next tuesday). The entire varsity basketball team is on the volleyball team, so if they do play this game it will most likely be our JV against Central's varsity. I don't think that will be good for either team.
  7. Got a feeling it's going to be either Tarkington or Liberty...I believe those are the top two teams from that district.
  8. OF wins game 3 25-20!!! Lady Cats sweep!!! Great year Ladies, keep it going!!! Anybody have any idea who we play now?

  12. Saw a bus full of students in Bridge City again today...these kids have really amazed me by their actions. They could easily be laying around waiting for school to start, but they're out lending a helping hand. I'm always proud to say I'm from Orangefield and from this area, but I'm even more prouder today than I've ever been. God bless these kids, and God bless Bridge City...your in our prayers neighbors!!!
  13. This was just posted on the Orangefield board... Tuesday a couple of people in the community were inspired by the work these High School kids were doing for the Ike victims in Bridge City. They thought, if these kids can help, the adults certainly can! The idea was to feed the people working in the neighborhoods throughout Bridge City who lost their homes due to Hurricane Ike. Everyone would dress in their orange shirts and we would load buses that would drive through the neighborhoods distributing lunch. Mark Gunstream solicited donations from Zumo's. We had 10 cases of boudain and 10 cases of links donated. Evita Norwood at McDonald's offered 3 cases of hamburger patties, wrappers, buns, water and condiments. Advanced Systems, Durcon LLC, Ashworth Management Services and Lisa Taylor bought the bread. Triangle, Pepsi, 7-UP and Joan & Albert Gray donated the drinks. Little Debbie donated oatmeal pies. I think this is everyone, if I left anyone out I am sorry! We met this morning at the Jr High and Mark Gunstream cooked all the food! Mark, you are the BEST! The kids started loading the drinks as the adults assembled the links, boudain and hamburgers. We were a great team! We realized pretty quick two buses would not be enough because we had so many kids that showed up to volunteer. We pulled out of Orangefield with three buses full of kids! Adults followed in a caravan and a few stayed behind to replenish our food as we ran out and to clean up the area we used to assemble the lunches. We all hit different neighborhoods in Bridge City. The people were just stunned. There were some who offered to pay us, some that cried, a few even blew us kisses as we left. They also took pictures of our kids and our bus. It was an AWESOME sight! Bridge City is our rivals when we compete no doubt, but when push comes to shove we help our neighbors! It is so sad what our friends and neighbors are going through. I think each one of the kids enjoyed today even though it was hard work! I believe we had about 100 people that volunteered. I would estimate 75 of them were kids. It is something I know I will never forget and I doubt the people of Bridge City will either! Thank you kids for inspiring the adults to follow you to do the right thing! Once again, we are proud to be a BOBCAT!!!! God Bless each of you who helped and God Bless the people of Bridge City!

  16. I found the same stuff...he was there for a few years and also coached at Mexia and I believe I saw that he was an assistant at Ruston, La before that. Looks to have quite a bit of experience, sounds like a quality pickup.
  17. Orangefield beat them 38 - 35 this past Thursday. I believe that was Central's first loss of summer league. Both teams are pretty dang good and will have successful seasons. I believe Central comes to Orangefield this year, should be a dandy!!!
  18. Orangefield will struggle...starting QB Statum and two other key players Felts and Peevey will be playing baseball.

  21. Ed Peveto Memorial Crawfish Boil Jewel Cormier Park, Orangefield, Texas Saturday, May 24, 2008 ~1:00 p.m. Guys this is an awesome event!!! Over the years they have auctioned off some incredible items. If your a Texas Longhorn fan, LSU fan, A&M fan, Dallas Cowboys fan or just a sports memorabilia collector, you don't want to miss out on this event. The atmosphere is great and so are the crawfish. The crawfish are free...donations are welcomed!!! The money raised goes towards a scholarship program which rewards two student athletes each year at Orangefield. 22. True it's not a big deal, just wanted to clear the score up. WO-S did have three of their kids gone due to track and Orangefield had some kids out too. Felts, Evans and Stone did not play for OF.
