1. McIlroy bogeyed first hole, Schwartzel chipped in from way right on 1 to get to -9.  McIlroy just hit lip from a fairway bunker on par 5 2nd, so it's going to anybody's Masters I do believe.  As I was typing TW knocked in a birdie on 4 to get to -7.
2. I would like Martin Kaymer, but he's MC'd all three of his Masters appearances, mostly because he plays a fade and Augusta requires a draw.  Bubba Watson sounds like a winner, playing the ball right to left and hitting it high, but experience could be a limiting factor.  G-Mac, T-Dub, and Phatty Phil all have a shot, but I have no idea, so I'm picking Dustin Johnson.
3. I played today, and was not impressed at all.  Fairways looked like first cut, greens weren't in the greatest of shots, and facilities are just depressing.  Much rather go down Labelle Rd. to Bayou Din, Links 9 has to be best 9 in the area, outside of BCC.
4. Let him find a good swing coach, and in 2011 or early 2012 he'll be back on top.  He didn't win a major in 2003 or 2004, with only one win at the Match Play Championship in 2004.  It'll only be a matter of time.
5. Stroud posted a -4 66 for his first round at the RBC Canadian Open.  Golf Channel coverage showed his only bogey at the day at the par 3 8th.  Should be in safe company for making the cut and potentially finishing high.
6. Yeah, it'll be Stroud's first cut made at a major, even though he's just played in the three previous U.S. Opens.  Graeme McDowell with early 2nd round lead at -3.  Dustin Johnson highest American right now at -1.
7. So I just found out that the ex-rodeo arena I drive by just about everyday of my life is being turned into an arena for semi-pro basketball...I still don't think I'll attend any games even though I could run there without much trouble.  Why Winnie though?
8. Anybody have an opinion on this ongoing debacle?  I'm on the Braden side if you ask me.  A-Rod has been known to break some other "un-written rules" (calling "ball" while running the bases next to SS and 3B).  I don't see how running over a mound can be better than running around, obviously he did it to get Braden's attention, and Braden called him out for it...shows some guys steal actually care about the game.
9. Good article on the local pro.  Great to see him finally make a name for himself, especially in a tournament of this caliber with a world-class field. [Hidden Content]
10. Another star teenager, Ryo Iskikawa of Japan, shot 58 to win a tourney over on the Japan tour.  Great to see the young guys win instead of the Billy Mayfairs of the world, for me at least.
11. Everybody is sucking off Tiger so much that they failed to realized local pro Chris Stroud made the cut in one of the toughest non-major fields on the schedule.  Stroud's at Even, T-38.  The world will continue to exist tomorrow, despite what some people think.
12. If only the weekend hackers playing for money would be this honest.... ::)
13.
HJ player hit a homerun.  His father retrieved the ball  (it was the players first homerun) HF coach wanted it back.  HF coach had a sheriff's deputy go get the ball.  Talk about bad sportsmanship.
Game-day baseballs aren't exactly cheap.
14. Typical Phil, knocking a 6-iron 207 in between trees to 6 feet on a par five, only to blow the eagle putt 3 feet past the cup.  Great win for him, as well as everyone around him.  Anthony Kim keeps showing that when he's on, he can go extremely low.  Tiger might never win a major from behind, and Lee Westwood will just never win one period.
15. That was some pretty exciting golf.  Tiger will make it very interesting, but history says he's never won a major coming from behind.  History also says Lee Westwood hasn't ever won a major, and last but not least 18 of the last 19 winners have come from the final pairing, so Lefty will be donning the green jacket tomorrow evening.
