If this is all true, my guess will be that the list of his "conquests" will pale in comparison to Mr. Clintons but that it will be generally perceived as considerably more egregious than the conduct of Mr. Clinton.

I dont think there has been any movement of that magnitude in any 100 year period.  Havent researched it but I believe I am right about that.

If we take some extreme measures to try and stop it and find out that 100 years from now, our efforts netted a half degree cooler temperature, will it have been worth all that we did for that result? Just for fun, try this one: If we knew in advance that outlawing/eliminating the internal combustion engine would make the earth 1/2 degree cooler in 100 years, would that "price" be worth it?

If they don't show up, then it may be a stretch to call them supporters. If anyone believes that one party will always has control, he or she needs to wake up. When the country moves either to the left or to the right, the populace often decides that the country has moved too far in one direction and the pendulum thus swings back the other way. My guess is that will never change. I believe the current administration misjudged how much leeway they were going to be given by the public and the last two mid term elections (decisive losses) are statements that you can only go so far in one direction before the public says enough is enough

From the last two elections, Big Girl has come to the following conclusion 32 Republican Governorships makes it look dim for the Republicans. Biggest House of Representatives Majority in decades makes it look dim for the Republicans Newly gained control of the senate makes it look dim for the republicans Control of 70% of state legislatures by the Repubs makes is look dim for them IN 24 states, Repubs have control of the state legislature as well as the governorship- another dim indicator for the Republicans Montana elects its first Republican senator in 100 years and West Virginia its first Republican senator since 1956. Two more very dim indicators for the Republicans. Big Girl- Let me congratulate you on your insightful analysis of the political landscape.

Newtobie- please expand- Is it safe to assume that you are giving the REpublicans full credit for the Financial crisis of 2007-2008? If you are, you have had wayyyyyyy too much kool aid. Economic downturns are NOT a function of politics but rather part of the normal economic cycle. If you do not grasp that, you are better off not to offer commentary

Are you raising your son and teaching him to be self sufficient or are you suggesting to him not to worry because Big Brother can take care of anything?

I bought a bird feeder. I hung It on my back porch and filled it with seed. What a beauty of a bird feeder it was, as I filled it, lovingly with seed. Within a week we had hundreds of birds taking advantage of the continuous flow of free and easily accessible food.   But then the birds started building nests in the boards of the patio, above the table, and next to the barbecue.   Then came the poop. It was everywhere: on the patio tile, the chairs, the table... Everywhere!   Then some of the birds turned mean. They would dive bomb me and try to peck me even though I had fed them out of my own pocket.   And others birds were boisterous and loud. They sat on the feeder and squawked and screamed at all hours of the day and night and demanded that I fill it when it got low on food.   After a while, I couldn't even sit on my own back porch anymore. So I took down the bird feeder and in three days the birds were gone. I cleaned up their mess and took down the many nests they had built all over the patio.   Soon, the back yard was like it used to be... quiet, serene.... And no one demanding their rights to a free meal.   Now let's see... Our government gives out free food, subsidized housing, free medical care and free education, and allows anyone born here to be an automatic Citizen.   Then the illegal's came by the tens of thousands. Suddenly, our taxes went up to pay for free services; small apartments are housing 5 families; you have to wait 6 hours to be seen by an emergency room doctor; your child's second grade class is behind other schools because over half the class doesn't speak English.   Corn Flakes now come in a bilingual box; I have to 'press one' to hear my bank talk to me in English, and people waving flags other than 'Old Glory' are squawking and screaming in the streets, demanding more rights and free liberties.   Just my opinion, but maybe it's time for the government to take down the bird feeder.   If you agree, pass it on; if not, just continue cleaning up the poop.

Thought you went to TAMU on a basketball scholarship-  If you did, your education was not, by any means free- you simply paid for it in a different manner-  I can give you hundreds of success stories that did not involve the government in any way-

Good links- thank you- the only thing that I wonder about is their methods to "estimate" average temperatures from a long time ago. Looks to me like these estimates are not as precise as they ought to be when we are discussing temperature changes of 1 or 2 degrees over very long periods of time.
