How does one go to work if they cant afford a car? We need a free automobile program
-
It may be because he believes that paying for their food, their housing, their education, and the cell phones is sufficient "compassion". He may be concerned that we are teaching/incentivizing people to believe that one needn't be self reliant or accountable to anyone.

Yes, one does reap what one sows. I will enjoy watching what the President and subsequently his party, "reaps" in the near future.

Good strategy Big Girl- to Hel_ with what is good for the country or what the majority wants. As long as the messiaha either wins or goes down with some degree of revenge/defiance. Very good examples of the tolerance and civility he so often demanded of the country.
-
It doesn't matter if he can. If he gives you a good reason, you will say that it is all untrue.

Over 300
-
You are right. Most of it ended Tuesday night and the remainder ends in two years.
-
You must remember, that those type of rules apply only when it is to the lefts advantage. Tuesday night suggests that the public is as tired of that "rule" as it is with the race card and the war on women.

I think it is because some people , in spite of all that has happened ( and hasn't happened)continue to ingest massive amounts of kool aid and would gladly participate in another version of what happened in Jonestown, Guyana if a certain President requested it. The election suggests that the number of kool aid consumers has declined substantially but there are still some die hards out there.
-
If any of the above truly mean less government involvement, I agree.
-
She still thinks he is bullet proof. She still has delsuions about him standing in front of the Greek Pillars in Denver with the adulation provided by the vast throngs of people. She still believes there is substance to "Change we can believe in" and "oh, yes we can" and "I will UNITE this country" and, a little later on, " If you like your healthcare plan, you can keep it"

If one good thing happens for the middle class in the next two years, it will be one more than has happened in the last six. Middle class income has declined substantially since the median reached its high of $56,436 in 2007. It is now $51,939 thereby suggesting that whatever methods/policies have been instituted since 2007 have been COUNTERproductive. Saying your "for the middle class" is quite easy to do. Providing results beyond the rhetoric is more difficult.

Ted Cruz is on the prowl. On the other end of the spectrum also prowling is Elizabeth Warren.
-
The golf swing much, but I agree with you, it will get better because there is no way to go but up. I pray you are correct about the carpal tunnel. It will assure a Repub President in 2016. Do you think Michelle will still be proud of her country when he is no longer President? Do you think he will return to the preachings of that great American, Jeremiah Wright?

And if Obama vetoes every piece of legislation brought before him, Hillary is gonna struggle in 16 even if she stops saying that businesses do not create jobs
-
Craig, wouldn't it take a fool to know, for certain, what a fool sounds like?
-
I know what you mean. My popcorn was particularly enjoyable last night. How about yours?
-
Yes, veto, veto, veto against the wishes of the majority as represented by this country. It will cement his position below Jimmy Carter in the annals of history.
-
If the Ted Cruz situation were as critical as you would like it to be, last night would not have happened.

Sorry, Big Girl but when the public elects someone to the highest office in the world, the assumption is that an ability/willingness to compromise already exists. Its part of a quality called leadership, a foreign term to some. Furthermore, since he is allegedly "the smartest man in the world", showing others how to compromise should have been a piece of cake for him. The Greek Pillars in Denver are gone. So is the swooning and adulation. And a pleasing personality will no longer sustain the President nor will comments like " I would like to have a beer with him". The public wants results and there simply havent been many. There are over 300 bills, passed by the House of Representatives (obviously by both parties) that have gone no further than the desk of Harry Reid. Some of those bills could have been passed and some progress could have been made. Therefore, permit me to suggest to you that you can no longer blame Bush or the rest of the Republicans and get by with it.
-
And it will be even more fun watching Harry Reid become so meaningless and irrelevant.
-
Since you are not currently particpating in the boards activities, I just wanted to acknowledge your "presence" and invite you to join me and Big Girl in celebrating last nights results.
-
Maybe the electorate is saying that things such as the economy and jobs are more important than free contraception and changing the name of the Washington professional football team.
-
I would like to also comment on the "sinking ship" contention. Yes, Mr. Obama is President. However, the Republicans have had a substantial plurality in the Governorships across the country and had one before they took over last night in Maryland, Massachusetts, and Illinois which are three states that are about as Blue as possible. I am sure last nights vote might make some minor changes, but up until then, the Republicans had a 28 to 17 advantage in control of state legislatures with the other 5 split. No need to say much about the now Republican controlled senate because everyone is already aware of that. The Republicans also added some more seats in the House of Representatives where they now have the largest control since World War II. Perhaps "the war on women" and "you are a racist" are losing their effectiveness. Perhaps people are beginning to realize that every time the government gives you something, they have to take it away from someone else and the larger the "recipient" line becomes, the smaller the "productive giver" line becomes.

Big Girl- A question about mid term elections
stevenash replied to stevenash's topic in Political Forum
Would that be 30% of the voting age population or30% of the registered voters? In either case, I always got the impression that you considered yourself a thoughtful and responsible citizen. But, if you dont care and dont vote, I may have miscalculated.
