Big Girl- A question about mid term elections
stevenash replied to stevenash's topic in Political Forum
I hope you are the exception rather than the rule. I hope people do care and will exercise their right to vote. I hope people do care about whether or not government is the answer to every single issue/problem that arises. If a Republican is elected President in 2016, will you "care" at that point? -

Absolutely- it is also why there is a Republican majority in the House and quite possibly the Senate tomorrow as well as a Republican plurality within the Governorships. But let me guess, you have no interest in discussing or acknowledging those situations? -

I think that was the intent of the system , wasn't it? -

If you are right, they will only have control for a couple of years. If you are wrong, perhaps the majority is not as aligned with your perception of "correct" social policies as you believe. The pendulum swings too far in BOTH directions, so there is nothing wrong with "corrections" from both angles in all issues. My strong belief is, that if the country is unable to remain solvent, social policies will become much less important and will not be given the attention you want them to be given. -

If that is the case, it is obvious to me that things arent as rosy as the President would have us believe. Nobody wants him around campaigning for them. There is a reason for that. It's quite a bit different now from when the vast throngs were worshipping the "chosen one" as he stood in front of the Greek Pillars promising us "hope and change" and " oh, yes we can". I have never understood why so many people bought that garbage. And, in regard to his promise to "fight for the middle class": what benefits has the middle class realized? Its not lower healthcare premiums- real wages for the average family are down about $10,000 per year the country is certainly not more safe/tranquil as he has stated. I obviously have been and still am a big critic of the President. Maybe someone out there can help me understand what type of change we got and what benefits accompanied that change. -
What message do you believe the voters will send in the mid term elections tomorrow? Is it that they are happy and satisfied with the way things are going or are they going to say/demonstrate that they believe we are not on the right path?

Thank you, masser.

SIR BigCam, you must remember that some of us "lesser folks" are just naïve enough to believe that our opinion is relevant. I apologize for demonstrating aforementioned naivete by thinking I was qualified to participate in the conversation.
-
Bigcam- So you don't like "pigeonholing" but find it acceptable to make suggestions/inferences regarding "you guys"?
-
I have personal knowledge of an individual employed by a public school who pays $1700 per month for coverage for spouse and dependent. Remember, the school personnel are "the regular guy" whom Obama said he was going to protect and fight for. Does this seem like good "protection" from the President?
-
Craig- you are pretty articulate for an angry old white guy:)
-
Regarding the "dude" who was shot in the back of the head. Was he another totally innocent guy that the police just walked up to and, unprovoked, shot him. Or is there more to it than that?
-
Sadly, that is learned behavior and is likely to be passed on generationally.
-
Please give an actual example rather than just lobbing allegations. Who was it whose stance on gay marriage "evolved"?
-
BigCam- I thought Barkley was, in effect, calling out those who did that to him and to others he knew, even though he didnt provide specific names. When you talk about" fanning the flames", surely you must agree that the opinion of Mr. Barkley is not one tenth as inflammatory as when the media reports ( constantly and repeatedly) every single word expressed or action taken by Mr. Jackson and/or Mr. Sharpton.
-
And who is it that you know, for certain, that was shot down without provocation?
-
Can you handle your own business or do you need Al Sharpton to act on your behalf?
-
I can no more speak for every white person than you can for every black person. But I stand behind what I said and I would love to see you spin it some other way.
-
Well, first of all, they are allowing the police to do their job without running around looting and screaming for justice before they have any idea what has happened. And they also do not bring in "speakers" from the other side of the country to stir up more hatred.
-
If the people who are in power remain there, it wont be that long before you can
-
Did any of those people you mention have insurance before Obamacare was put into effect?
-
agree
-
Dove,I am confused. You say that there is a lot of validity to what Barkley has to say. But then you suggest that the things Barkley talks about have little to do with blacks not being successful. Which is it?
-
No- nobody specific- Mental superiority is not established via condescension, particularly of the unwarranted type.
-
And what disrespect was shown to you this time to cause you to throw out more insults?
