The accountability factor is as good a reason as anyway to want to minimize government involvement in our daily lives as opposed to increasing it.
-
Very serious issue. I have brought it up on this board numerous times, but it has always fallen on deaf ears. It's too bad that we will only be willing to confront this issue when it is virtually too late to do so. Greece is the shining example.

I can respect that. Perhaps one of those listed below will pass the test. If not, no problem. [Hidden Content] [Hidden Content] [Hidden Content]

Hmmm_ I am thinking we should expect more
-
I suppose that is possible, butI would have thought the best and brightest could easily multi task and address a number of issues. The recession hit bottom in summer of 2009 and the economy began its slow growth at that time. That would have been a full 15 months( with control of the White House and both Houses) before the next mid terms in 2010 if I am thinking correctly.
-
Why or why wasn't this achieved during the first two years of the current administration when it had control of the White House, Congress, and Senate?

If you want to present yourself as more legitimate than you feel some are interpreting you, stop telling them that they are dumb. Stop calling them commoners. Stop the phony and unjustified condescension. Stop telling them that they all ought to look at things from your perspective because it is th only reasonable position. Just offer your perspective and see what happens.

So, if the economy sucks, it's wrong for me to attempt to reinforce that fact and get people to wake up to the real circumstances surrounding the economy? You ought to consider yourself when criticizing topics offered by others. I found nothing interesting about "is the Sky Blue" and was truly troubled with " Why do Smitty and Steve Nash Hate America". Sorry, but neither of those leads to enlightenment in the subsequent discussions. As for your anti affirmative action post, most did not take it at face value just as they have not done so with the plethora of posts provided by you and TXHoops over the last 18 hours.

The use of the quotation marks was meant to describe a group of people who have either stated that they are intellectually superior or have not so subtly inferred it. If one is not guilty of either, one needn't respond to or be concerned with the post.
-
I believe it was you who stated that you were a fiscal conservative and a social liberal. The liberal social crowd always laments the fact that only they are truly tolerant and promoting diversity. If you want to go ahead, right here and now, and state you are NOT a social liberal, I will happily accept that statement and we can proceed accordingly. It is worth noting, however, that on this board your full time job has been to criticize the left and defend the right. I am not saying there is anything wrong with that but surely you understand what type of conclusions it makes observers arrive at. One more thing, most of the name calling that take place on this board originates from those supportive of and sympathetic to the current administration. You have not been deficient in meeting that criteria.

If the male stays home, gets a job, and provides for his family, there isnt much need to have competition from his wife. Its when he makes a baby, leaves home, and forces her to provide for the family that the trouble begins. She is out getting a job while he is out making another baby somewhere else, leaving that family, and yada yada yada. This is not a good example for the children .

To those of you who truly want "real discussion" lets try it again. But it will deteriorate the very minute the name calling and or feigned condescension begins.

I have my own thoughts regarding this but am not going to respond because I think the moderators want to see all of this come to an end. Personally, I very much dislike being called stupid or having it inferred toward me because my formal education level is not comparable to that of someone else. ( even though the informal one is as good or better than most) If we want to get real honest about things, even though I rarely use the aforementioned term, I do believe that there are a lots of individuals who cast ballots without much forethought . While I am no better qualified than anyone else on most of the social issues, I knew those economic promises were pure garbage the minute they were uttered and that is what turned me against the candidate. I believe I am entitled to make that judgement and to do so without being labeled as stupid.
-
If I called you a smarter person, would that be demeaning?
-
This has all come about because some are offended by articles that Smitty posts. I maintain that Smitty is as entitled to post what he wants as anyone else is. If what he posts is so offensive to someone else, that someone else is more than entitled to offer their reasoning why his post is not credible. I dont think they ought to call him stupid or ignorant because, in reality, one cannot make an accurate judgement about someone based solely upon what he posts on a message board. Does Smitty post articles that arent what they are represented to be? Obviously some believe that. Does Smitty receive personal insults because he posted something? You bet he does. I would suggest to you that name calling/insults is every bit as in poor taste as posting something that may not be accurate. I vigorously disagree with those who would like to install a form of censorship against articles that some might interpret in a manner that the "wanna be de facto censors" dont want them to be interpreted. Let the chips fall where they may. If the article is as pathetic as some say it is, nobody will honor it anyway. As said earlier, the wanna be de facto censors are the very people who celebrate tolerance and diversity. I suggest that they practice it when it comes to opinions of others.

Why were they put in the position to have to compete with their black mates for the job? Wouldnt it have been better for the mate to become the bus driver and the mom to stay home, raise the kids, and impart some good family values to them?
-
I am missing something in your analogies. In the big cities, ALL women wear tennis shoes when not in the office so as to make it easier to access the sub ways, etc. Same is true in New York City. I dont see what is wrong with a black woman driving a city bus. That means she is employed and is likely a productive and responsible citizen. There will always be people who attempt to get things out of a dumpster- although I must admit I havent seen full sandwiches come out of one. Do you understand that it is virtually impossible to eliminate all poverty? That has never been accomplished anywhere. I think the best we can do is to try to keep it at a minimum and provide assistance, to some extent, to those who are impoverished. But I also believe that there has to be some strings attached to those who remain on assistance for very long times. I believe we have got to find a way to make being on public assistance less attractive than working at McDonalds- right now, it doesnt seem to be that way.

Here is another "terribly biased" piece. [Hidden Content] As an aside- None of my posts include name calling/personal insults and I have always referred to our President as President Obama or Mr. Obama- I also have never claimed to be a member of the Tea Party ( although I very much support the position of smaller government and lower taxes). I tend to "over post" when I am constantly barraged with teabagger generalizations/accusations as well as being told I am not intellectually adequate to converse with someone else. I am no Einstein, but neither is anyone else who is posting here.
-
I sure hope the "smarter people" will tell us why this story is not true.
-
Likewise- What's good for the goose, is good for the gander
-
So was Bushs highest approval rate of 90% vs Obamas highest approval rate of 69%

How we know Smitty is a low intelligence quotient human being..

Funny, I didn't see the word liberal in what you posted, but I understand that you need to make it look that way. I specifically mentioned "your crowd" which is obviously a group that believes they are intellectually superior and celebrate diversity and tolerance on a regular basis. Am I wrong? Do you not believe in tolerance and diversity? Yawn is weaker than Boom Roasted. -
When personal insults(a staple of the left) become the only retort, the game is close to over.

Forbes disagrees with financial guru, Stevenash??

My points are valid and you cant do anything about it. At least I offer points rather than unsubstantiated "declarations". LOL or buzz words lend nothing to the very sad case you attempt to make, if you want to call it that. You have said nothing but that GDP rates cant be what they have been in the past. You offer no reason why, you just assume making such a statement has some credibility, but it has credibility only with you. Furthermore, I would suggest to you that technological and productivity enhancements over the years ought to provide for increased GDP recovery rates rather than muted ones. Very sorry, but lower recession recovery rates are not acceptable simply because you say they are.
