Economic insights for Big Girl and Enlightened
stevenash replied to stevenash's topic in Political Forum
I need your input on this one, Big Girl and Enlightened -
My contention is that Fox News is no more biased than any other network. If you are so convinced that Fox News does nothing but lie, why do you take their word (reported by you) that there were no WMDs. If everything is a lie, so is that contention.

I will give you that list the VERY SECOND that you provide me with documentation that the national debt is not in the $17 trillion range.
-
I am willing to give him credit for the loss of full time jobs and the gain in part time jobs that are listed on another post I made today. I will also give him credit for a 2% average GDP during a period it could have easily been 4%

What a novel thought. If you disagree with the President, its not because you don't like his policies, it's because you don't like him. Now that you have established that, Big Girl, please tell us why he isn't liked. -
I never give up, Big Girl. If I was that type of individual, I would be on government assistance right now. I guess you have no appreciation for that approach to life.
-
They are different but they are close. Both, to a different degree, adhere to the belief that government is the answer to all ills.
-
The good news about jobs: So far in 2014 the number of jobs added to the U.S. economy was around 1,572,000. The bad news- Of that 1,572,000 , 646,000 were part time. Change it to the month of june and you find a gain of 799,000 part time jobs and a loss of 523,000 full time jobs. Wanna make a bet on whether or not Obamacare has something to do with this? For all of those getting only part time jobs, I guess we will have to come up with some sort of government program that will make up the difference between what they are making part time and what they would make if they were full time. After all, only the government can solve problems caused by the government. And when those solutions don't work, we will have an "investigation" and then raise taxes because the rich are not paying their fair share. Only a greedy Republican, void of compassion, would oppose a well intentioned program like this.

Very glad to hear that. For a while there, I got the impression that you were condescending to Smitty. Like him or not, his viewpoint is every bit as valid/credible as that of anyone else here. What some people dislike about Smitty is that he makes no bones about where he stands just as some others do on the opposite end of the spectrum. There are folks from varied positions here. There are those on the left, those on the right, those in the middle, and those in the middle who aren't really there but do there damndest to convince everyone they are because they believe that claiming that viewpoint somehow makes them appear more intelligent and "above the fray".
-
You are right about them being the only game in town, From my perspective, that means they present their news/information in a manner that is not consistent with what the "rest of the game in town" does. A good example of what I am contending follows:. I mentioned Cindy Sheehan earlier. When she was "making her point" she was seen on all three major networks for an extended period at least three or four times per week. Why is it that the parents of the Benghazi victims are heard from only on Fox? I am seeking a realistic justification for that glaring difference.

I will always be here for replies, to those with whom I agree and to those with whom I disagree. Last time I checked, neither was in violation of any rules or laws. I just never realized there was going to be any "thread volume" police here. I figured it would be easier for one to ignore the posts of those who are considered "unworthy". But since there is, I will just watch and see when tickets are issued to me, Big Girl, and EnlightenedChosen One ( with the supposition that two of the three aforementioned will be exempted from scrutiny)

Then I can assume that you dont believe NBC did anything wrong with the Zimmerman tapes and you also believe that Dan Rather, at CBS, presented a non biased view of George Bush a few years ago. If the public is wrong in its perception of news reporting bias, why is that? If Fox has such a large viewership, again, why is that? I would further suggest to you that Bill O'Reilly is every bit as fair as Candy Crowley is. Furthermore, I would be willing to bet you there is a very wide disparity in how people define ultra conservative. There are no viewpoints, from the right or the left, that I can't stand to hear. In fact, I learn a lot from hearing them I may not like them but all opinions are worthy of being heard.
-
I didnt volunteer to help Bush because I didnt I have anything to offer him. You are the ONLY one who does not acknowledge the discovery of the WMDs just as you are the ONLY one who does not acknowledge existence of the 17 trillion dollar debt. Why is that? Aren't you supposed to be a member of the party of enlightenment, education, and objectivity? Of what use is denying reality?
-
Bama Kid, when you request too much thinking/analysis/deliberation of someone who does little of the same, you should not expect a cogent response or perhaps any response. Furthermore, the liberal websites consulted prior to the response, may not provide fodder for a response. So I suspect there will be no response or you will be told that everything you posted is a lie , the genesis of which is somehow associated with Fox news.
-
TxHoops- Nancy Pelosi is not a rocket scientist compared to ANYONE and I am frankly surprised you would make that suggestion. I believe you pridefully told of how you used the parental block feature on your television to keep your kids from hearing Fox News in the name of helping them to think independently. Since Fox news is about the only station that represents the "other side", how does keeping that perspective from your children encourage independent thinking? Aren't you all about letting them come to a decision/conclusion after they digest everything they have heard/read? I must assume that you have also blocked NBC ( for the way they blatantly manipulated the Zimmerman tape for a specific purpose) and MSNBC so they dont have to listen to the likes of Martin Bashir. What networks provide the unbiased reporting that you prefer?
-
She will simply say these stats are false just like the Fed debt of 17 trillion.
-
Come on, Smitty. It is improper to question the President and/or his policies. Everything is going "swimmingly" and you need to just be quiet. ( freedom of speech does not apply here) It's only acceptable if Cindy Sheehan wants to exercise it.
-
Just trying to get a more clear picture of where you stand on these issues? Did you think it was a good idea to rehire the electrician after he abused BISD?
-
As you all probably already know, the View has dismissed Jenny McCarthy and Sherri Shepherd. But I was wondering if anyone is as excited as I am about the possibility of that great American patriot, Rosie O"Donnell joining Whoopee on the show? If we have just the two of them, it will be the ultimate definition of fair and balanced. Enlightened, if you are not already a dedicated fan of the view, will this dynamic combination force you to join the View faithful?

We are now all very familiar with " BOOM, ROASTED" But, if you don't mind, please don't spike the football when you get tackled on or behind the line of scrimmage.
-
I don't blame him for that. Not only does he find the team undesireable, but the taxes and the government as well. If he comes to Houston, will it alarm you that he has moved to an overwhelmingly Republican state?

Let me repeat this and hopefully Big Girl and Enlightened will read ( and hate because its very accurate) If you go back to 2007, the annual average increase in wealth held by those fortunate enough to be wealthy is 2.7% If you go back to 2007, the average annual increase in the wages of all americans is also 2.7%. I confirmed these figures, by phone ( preceded a week earlier by an in person interview) with the Chief Economist of a major U.S. securities firm. He and I are NOT employed by the same company. He has appeared on CNBC a number of times and served as Chief Economist for the Joint Economic Committee of the U.S. Congress in the mid 90s.
