If he signs with Houston, there will be no change in his tax consequences. Now if he signs with Chicago, that's quite another story. Hmmm- Who is from Chicago and who is running the city of Chicago and the State of Illinois. Is it a bunch of those lowly teabaggers or Republicans?

Yes, thank you President Obama for making the markets climb. Couple of things to point out. If this had been achieved during the Bush Administration, you would have whined and complained about how the market doesn't prove anything except how much money those evil rich people have. This one ought to be pretty easy for you, Big Girl. Pull up a chart of that same Dow that you are crowing about. You will notice that in almost every instance, most Presidents experienced a record high in the Dow at some point during their term in office. This president could have easily had a much higher Dow by this date if he hadn't done so many things to discourage economic growth.
-
I believe it has been" brought" twice in the last week with both decisions going against the Presidents interpretation.
-
I would much prefer you to have said a repeal rather than a repeat. We cant handle the first obamacare, let alone a repeat. But I am glad to see you back in form on the BOOM ROASTED thing. Just wondering if you would like to compare recovery notes on this recovery vs the one that occurred shortly after Bush inherited the Clinton recession/dot com bubble bursting?

Big Girl, I still believe I am right about the 14 hourly wage for any full time employee. I have a great idea. Why don't you call the manager of the Beaumont store and ask him what the minimum wage is for all full time employees. Then I will do the same and we can compare notes.

How Come You Teabaggers Didn't Like Mittens in 2012?
stevenash replied to EnlightenedChosenOne's topic in Political Forum
You will have to forgive the rest of us, enlightened. We foolishly believed that the subject of this thread was Chris Christie rather than finance and economics. -
Hey, Enlightened, you forgot to add BOOM! ROASTED! to you last post. You are slipping. Would you remind repeating what you said the other day in one of our other conversations where you stated that you believe the economy would be better off with lower taxes, fewer regulations, and no Obamacare?
-
Come on lefties, explain to us why Mr. James will sign somewhere that will allow him to pay more taxes.
-
I am glad that the unemployment rate has improved ( despite the poor workforce participation rate) But this "celebration" should have/could have occurred about two years ago.
-
You are probably going to have to keep posting TTT on this thread. It appears that your credibility with most of the board participants has diminished to the point that I am the only one still willing to play your game. If Christie chooses to run in 2016, the system will decide whether or not he is best qualified as opposed to your personal evaluation.

Dove, would it be safe to say that you believe the individual who embezzled the money from BISD is a crook?
-
If you never criticize anybody on the right, then I respectfully retract my statement. Do you believe that President Obama has accomplished much in relation to what he told us he would accomplish?

THose folks love Colin Powell now that he is a democrat. Since the majority of black folks are liberal, they are going to vote for the liberal candidate. Liberalism is heavily invested in free stuff and the proposition that" angy old white guys" are harming the country. Both have worked well in the elections. We will see in just a few months if those tactics still are as effective as they have been in the past. Let me just remind you that the leader of the country these days is not an "angry old white guy" and the country is not in very good condition.
-
Dove, when you speak of not figuring things out. How long does it take to figure out that your economic policies are failed ones? And, as Eagle 11 just pointed out, his "looking bad" is very much self imposed. You continue to point to the Presidential election as your means of arriving at your conclusions. Why are there more Republican governors than Democratic governors and why do the republicans have the majority in the House of Representatives with an increasingly good chance of having same in the Senate. Is that because of blunders. Change- what a great word - especially if you embellish it with" you can believe in". If the doctor tells me that a change in the liquids I consume is needed, changing to arsenic would not be the answer. If the repubs were in as bad a shape as you like to portray, your boys would be controlling both Houses and have a plurality in governorships.

He couldnt get to them- they were hidden in another country and chemical weapons will not do much good against a bomber flying by. Big Girl, please answer this for me. If you are Saddam Hussein and you have been attacked by the most powerful country in the World, who has nuclear weaponry at its disposal, do you believe that chemical weapons are going to do much good if you can manage to get them back in your country?
-
Yes and we also elected the smartest man in the world as our President.

YOur point here is about as valid/salient as your concern about the proper definition of WMDs
-
Yes it is because if the economy doesnt improve, everyone including you will be impacted. I would bet you that all of the residents of Greece dearly wish they had been more attentive to the economy when they had the chance. Did you notice where the Governor of New Jersey announced a 700 million dollar shortfall in tax revenues? He stated that the higher tax rates encouraged people not to sell items they normally would have sold ( and resultantly, pay taxes on their gain) and they exchanged dividend paying investments for long term capital gain investments ( resultantly not paying taxes on those dividends) He also stated that the top 1% of wage earners in New Jersey pay 43% of all taxes collected in New Jersey ( I am sure you agree with the Prez that they are not paying their "fair share") So when that top 1% were forced to alter their business conduct by the higher tax rates, the state lost a bunch of revenue. Hmmm- I wonder if that happens in other states as well, What you don't seem to understand that there is much more to worry about in this country than just our level of "compassion" which, you also dont seem to understand, has a cost attached to it that requires someones concern.

Better check your web sources again Big Girl. Hobby Lobby raised its minimum pay for full time employees from $9.50 per hour to $14 per hour in April of 2013. Nothing you can change about that
-
Someone to look out for the average person? How has the little guy been helped? The median income is down about 10% since he took office. There are 1 million fewer people working today than when he took office. I am sorry, but a pleasing personality is not an appropriate criteria for selecting someone to be in the highest office in the land. And you are right about Herman Cain with one small exception. Its the black LIBERALS who would not have voted for Herman Cain. Nothing new there. As for the assertion of Mr. Obama being a respected World leader, how do you validate that contention? You said that America needed a change. Are you talking about "change we can believe in"? Do you think we got that? Is that the type of change that assured the voting public that the government would attain a new high in transparency? Is that the type of change that assured the voting public that the debt would be cut in half after one term? Is that the kind of change that assured the voting public that a new 21st Century VA would be created?
-
Pamfam- if you have lost faith in all politicians, why do you criticize only the ones on the right?
-
Dove, people did not make the "heavy biracial analysis" just before they went to the poll. I want you to tell me, honestly, of course, that if Mr. Obama had been caucasian, would Oprah have pushed for his nomination as she did? If Mr. Obama had been a caucasian, would the Dems have nominated him as their candidate? If they had nominated a caucasian community organizer with two years of senatorial experience where he voted "present" on most issues, would the public have elected him?
-
No, I am not saying that mustard gas is not a WMD. You aren't "buying" that- no big deal because you still havent "bought" the 17 trillion dollar debt- but it exists whether you are "buying" or not. Anybody who is willing to wage war knows what the risks are to his/her life and Saddam knew very well that he was going to be invaded.

If they are still paying for 16 of 20 possible birth control methods, that would not seem to me to be "adamantly" (note the correct spelling) against it. As for affordability- some women can't afford a new car but that doesnt mean that someone else should have to buy one for them
