There is nothing more embarrassing than lying to the public to get elected and then to continue to do so, after being elected, consistently.  ( except, perhaps, claiming that the 17 trillion dollar debt is non existent) 

Good question, Westend.  Maybe we should also add in this question:  Why weren't any of the Bush actions contradicted by the Supreme Court.

Your link tries to infer that the first four years of job growth under Bush should be compared to the first four years under Obama.  When Obama took office, we had lost more jobs than at any other time in modern history.  Every time that has ever happened in this country, there has been a recovery and hence, an increase in jobs.  When Bush took over from Clinton, we were not at the depths of a recession and, resultantly, there was not going to be a huge rebound in employment numbers..  If you want to make comparisons, why not just compare the average unemployment rate during the Bush years to the average unemployment rate during the Obama years? 

You want to know what our credit rating is now?   I thought you knew all of that stuff?  Besides, you aren't going to accept the word of a lowly salesman anyway.  But, just for you edification, it is AA, a rating that we have never had before.

Big Girl- In regard to the title of this post, please tell me specifically what "The Republican Lie" is/was and who said/printed it. 

Mr. Obama is not easily scared.  He proves that by continually lying to the public with no concern about repercussions.

Big Girl- When is the average family going to realize the $2500 premium reduction the President promised?  Or was this just another case of he hoped it would happen?

Doesn't it make you wonder if people will ever understand that the great majority of all this "hate the rich/help the poor" stuff is insincere?

I am not up to speed on this subject.  I would ask one question, though.  Regardless of whose "guy" it is, did Mr. Bush get contradicted in any of the similar efforts by the Supreme Court?

If you earn $100,000 a year and owe $45.000, that is a pretty serious debt.  However,  it is quite a bit different than earning $100,000 a year and owing $100,800.

I believe its because Congress doesn't get anything done.  You can credit that to both sides of the aisle.  If Congress cant get anything done, why would you want to have more government?

By the way, Big Girl, do you still stand by your statement that the U.S. is not 17 trillion in debt?

Big Girl,  Its one thing to make a promise to yourself.  Its quite another to make one to the American people when you know there is no chance it will happen.   For the record, when he made those statements, the word "hope" was not included.  Since you are rewriting history to suit yourself, should we also now accept that the President said " If you like your healthcare plan, I HOPE you can keep it'?  Did A&M offer a course in "self delusion" when you attended?   On April 18,2011 Standard and Poors issued a negative outlook on the USA debt.  This means that, in the near future, it is possible that the credit rating will be lowered.  S&P considered the government budget deficit of more than 11 percent of GDP AND net Government debt rising to about 80% or more of GDP by 2013 to be too high when compared to other AAA rated countries.   The country was warned in advance and S&P finally determined that its warning was not heeded when the August 15, 2011 decision was rendered.   If you want to believe that not raising the debt ceiling was the main reason for the downgrade, that's fine.  But its just more proof that, rather than negotiating and providing leadership, the President was willing to let the downgrade take place instead of meeting the opposition half way as other Presidents have done.

The job growth is very subpar and anemic.  The biggest indicator of economic health is Gross Domestic Product which contracted by 2.9% in the first quarter of 2014.  This contraction is the largest post recession contraction since World War 2.  The country also is deeper in debt than it has ever been and only during this administration has our triple A debt rating ever been downgraded.  If we want to discuss lies, one would need to include the following:   At the end of my first term, the unemployment rate will be 5.5% and the debt will have been cut in half.   I will go through the budget line by line, with a scalpel.   My stimulus program will provide thousands of "shovel ready" jobs.

Big Girl- How could Romney care be doing well?  After all, it was piloted by someone who you believe is out of touch and doesn't care about the poor.  And yet, you tell us what a great program it is?  Does that mean you are/were wrong about Romney?

That's correct.  I don't. My economic/business conclusions are not, nor have they ever been, influenced by any radio or tv personalities.  Those folks are no better qualified than the President when it comes to business and economics.

Totally agree with you new tobie. I don't have what it takes to get elected these day.  And there are hundreds of reasons I could not get elected.  Chiefly, it would be difficult  for me to promise things I knew I could not deliver.

It would have been a lot less expensive for the country if it would have just bought him a White House and gave him retirement pay for the rest of his life and  permit someone else, with some knowledge of business/economics to manage/oversee things.

Whats really amazing is that the "icing on the cake" came from another "baker".

I agree.  Don't talk to me.  Just soak in all the wisdom that Big Girl has to offer.  I am out of her league.  Besides that, I have no community organizing background which renders me even more unworthy.
