To those who brag about their "laughter" the last election
stevenash replied to stevenash's topic in Political Forum
Better than what? 2008? 2009? 2010? 2011? 2012? 2013? If Lebron scores 10 points in a playoff game, should he claim that when he scores 12 points in the next game that he has made a 20% improvement or would you get a more complete picture of Lebron and the relevance of that 12 point performance by using his professional career as the barometer? Once again, the economy has improved to some degree because there has never been a recession from which we did not recover. But if you look at the rate of the recovery, it is dismal as compared to all other recoveries. -

It's because the economy is performing poorly and it contracted in the first quarter. The contraction was the largest post recession contraction since World War 2. You simply can't change that and you can't blame it on Bush. Additionally, thinkprogress.org doesnt have a solution/excuse for you to print. But I probably shouldnt explain because you dont like to deal in facts such as the 17 trillion dollar debt which you say does not exist. You also will not acknowledge that the Texas economy is faring far better than the national economy. Besides all of that, you dont want information/opinions from someone you believe has no credibility. I applaud you on your ability to delude yoursel into believing that the behavior of the U.S. economy is above average and that the country does not have a 17 trillion debt. -
You found out nothing, nada, zilch. You havent the slightest idea what I do so lose that tactic. Its the same tactic where you state that the country does not have a 17 trillion dollar debt. Everybody(except you) knows it. For you to discuss the credibility of anyone is the height of hypocrisy.

I guess every one of us can say that somebody else on this board is a joke. Just a matter of your perception, my perception, and that of everyone else. From my view, as earlier stated, there is nothing funnier than someone believing that the President is doing a decent job of heading up our economic affairs. But, then again, one shouldn't expect a law degree plus community organizational experience and studying Saul Alinsky to be an adequate background for being the CEO of a country. -

I can certainly understand your laughter because in the business world, there is no bigger JOKE than the current administration. -
Are you also laughing at an economy that contracted by almost 3% in a single quarter? I think its pretty funny that no other post recession economy has ever done that in the last 75 years. I believe you call it economic incompetence/ignorance. I also have a feeling those who laughed so hard during the last Presidential election are going to find the mid terms not nearly as funny. Big Girl, I am sure you are laughing the most at your very own remarks about how "vibrant" the U.S. economy is and how bad the Texas Economy is ( in spite of the fact that Texas was just named the second best state for business in the nation) Texas reached prerecession employment levels by late 2011 and jobs have since expanded 6.3%. Meanwhile, the nation is still more than 1 million jobs BELOW its peak reached in January of 2008.

CNBC announces its 5 top states for Business
stevenash replied to stevenash's topic in Political Forum
I decided to also look up who were the bottom 5 states. They are Connecticut, Alaska, Rhode Island, West Virginia, and Hawaii. I was mildly surprised to find only 4 of 5 instead of 5 of 5 had Democrat Governors. Lets see, now. Top five states all have Republican Governors and bottom 5 states have 80% governors who are Democrats. Does it take any intellect at all to draw a conclusion here? -
Please continue to laugh. While you are at it, check the polls out on what people think about the IRS scandal.
-
It means very little. Its simply one lefty high fiving another. Lets hear it for the revised GDP of a NEGATIVE 2.9% for the first quarter. Worst post recession quarter in over 50 years. Hmmm. First quarter GDP is bad and Obamacare operating in first quarter Na- just another coincidence
-
As long as the Dems keep creating the perception that, under their management, the government will give more free stuff to the average voter, those who can't/won't think for themselves will vote only one way.
-
Dove, am I understanding you correctly? Are you saying that the real problem with BISD does not lie within but rather with the media?

You and I both know the answer as do many other people. To me, its just a very sad day when your political loyalty over rides your common sense and you just pretend these type of situations do not exist. So many now vote not based on what they think would benefit the country the most but on who promises them the most personally.. If this was posted two years ago, we would get a lot of the "its Bush's fault" responses, but that one (which never was credible) makes one look too silly to use anymore. I guess the default issue nowadays is that Mr. Obama "cares" more about the common man, the little guy while anyone who opposes him is too wealthy and too out of touch with what the common man is experiening. I think the common man would very much like a job but we have indoctrinated him to believe and accept that if the government can't provide that job, it will give him an income anyway. -
1. Georgia 2. Texas ( sorry, Big Girl) 3. Utah 4. Nebraska 5. North Carolina Would anyone care to guess how many of these states have Democrat Governors? Would anyone care to guess how many of these states voted for Mr. Obama?
-
And Big Girl is still trying to convince someone, including herself, that the national economy is good while the Texas economy is bad. The best part of all of this is the portion of the Federal Government that is overseeing/enforcing the healthcare laws" lost" 2 years worth of emails, didn't back them up with hard copies, and therefore broke the law. Crooked? Maybe Incompetent? Maybe Neither? Not possible. And you say people love the Affordable Health Care act? The polls out there strongly suggest otherwise. Don't forget the "21st Century VA System" that was promised during the original campaign. Ask the folks who lost loved ones while waiting for care who they will be voting for.
-
Also in that sinking ship are 30 Republican Governors.
-
Then you are obviously a supporter of the Republican and tea party principals that call for smaller government ( meaning fewer people in DC)

Obama and the VA ( March 2007 campaign speech)
stevenash replied to stevenash's topic in Political Forum
This is just more proof that the government (regardless of party) in most cases, is considerably less competent than the private sector is. And yet, so many are willing to tolerate this and believe that they can continue to receive benefits from "the other guy" and also give full support to those who want to increase the size of this inefficient and unaccountable behemoth. Is anybody ever going to understand that the country cannot be moved forward simply by promising the have nots that the government is going to take more of what the haves own and give it to them? -
Just watched a video of Mr. Obama campaigning for the Presidency before he was elected. He stated that he led an effort to make things for Veterans better. He stated he would build a 21st Century VA and give it equal priority to building a 21st century military to fight our wars. Add more vet centers, No more red tape, No more short falls. I will build on the work I did in the senate to make things better for our veterans and there will be comprehensive reform. My Secretary of Veterans Affairs will be just as important as my Secretary of Defense. The VA will also be at the cutting edge of my plan for universal health care , with better preventive care, more research and specialty treatment, and more Vet Centers, particularly in rural areas. Can anyone, in any way, even a small way suggest to me that this was anything more than words. ( I know, I know, its somehow the fault of Bush)
-
If I am understanding you correctly, then you are not blaming Bush personally for the war and the lost lives like most of your left leaning associates are?
-
Are you referring to Weapons of Mass Destruction? Not sure if Jefferson County or Hardin County have them. If most countries have them, then you will agree we were justified in going after the ones that a mad man was using to kill thousands of people? And if they had them, as you imply, then Mr. Bush didn't lie and Mr. Kerry and Mrs. Clinton, and a significant number of other Democrats who agreed that we should invade, made good decisions. right?
-
So you are telling Smitty that you are conversant with the Constitution?
-
I also noticed he didn't have much to say when ISIS found Saddams WMDs that "Bush lied about"
-
I am sure he knew nothing about it and found out in the newspapers just like the rest of us.

I didn't realize that discussing the 10th amendment was pointless- wow!!!
