Nope  And without consulting the internet, neither can you.  And I was an adult at that time and you were not.   THe point is that this was going to be a different kind of Presidency.  Mr. Obama was supposedly the only adult in the room who was going to make the oceans part and make everything wonderful.  He was going to be more transparent than anyone before him.  He was going to lower the unemployment rate to 5.25 percent by the end of his first term.  He was going to reduce the national debt down to manageable levels ( he did the complete opposite)  He was going to provide us with an economy, in his words, that is "built to last".  He was going to get rid of the influence of lobbyists.  He was going to unite people and bring them together for a bipartisan agenda.  Should I go on?  Which of these did he achieve?  By the way, the economic recovery under Reagan was considerably faster and more robust. 

I think it is called cherry picking.  As PNG-Bama stated, a rare financial crisis caused a single year to be particularly high and Bush is given credit for the full year in your illustration even though he President for only a very small part of it.  If LeBron scores 10 point tonight during a season that he averages about 25, it will have been a bad night.  Using your illustration, if he scores 15 tomorrow night ( still very sub par) you can get out the pom poms and cheer wildly that he increased his scoring by 50% over the last game.  If you average the deficits on an annual basis by each President, there is very little difference between them ( even giving credit to Bush for the full year when it was particularly high)  Now that we have handled that, please answer this question.  During his original campaign, Mr. Obama complained loudly that the debt level under Mr. Bush was irresponsible and unpatriotic.  Now that it is 70% higher than the figure about which Mr. Obama complained, why is that not MORE irresponsible and MORE unpatriotic?

Wait a minute Big Girl- that info is from the Senate Budget Committee and you ALREADY STATED that you did not accept anything that they put out.   If you earn 100,000 per year and spend 105,000, your "deficit" is $5000. If you borrow 400,000 you still owe the 400,000 plus interest .  If you have a $5000 annual deficit, you  simply add that to the 400,000 that you owe plus the accumulated interest.  If you could find a way to get a raise to, perhaps, $106,000, you could, theoretically pay $1000 per year toward your debt which would still not reduce the debt as the interest costs exceed $1000.  Additionally, you would have to pay your "fair share" of taxes on that $6000 dollar raise thus forcing your debt to continue to increase until such time as the lenders demand payment and you are forced to file bankruptcy.  It happened in Greece.  I guess the other way out is to claim how unfair America is and that someone "owes" you a way out of the mess.

Big Girl- you have stated often that anything spoken by the Republicans is not the truth.  When evidence is provided that documents that what has been said is the absolute truth, how can you ignore it?  I believe that is bigotry at its finest and I thought you deplored bigotry.  The FACTS are these ( regardless of the source)  This economic recovery is the weakest on record since World War 2.  The GDP did contract in the most recent quarter.  Nobody can deny either of those statements.  Mr. Obama has been in office for 6 years and has raised the tax rates.  The economy is NOT booming.  In FACT, it is a long long way from booming.  The corporate tax rate is 10 percentage points higher here (on average) than in Europe.  Companies are trying to expand overseas and are keeping much of their cash there.  Too many regulations and too much in taxes.  And you choose to say that none of this is true because a democrat didn't say it?   Hmmmm- I believe that is bigotry at is finest.  And we all know how you feel about bigotry.  How do you feel about hypocrisy?

Big Girl-  Talk about sounding foolish!!!   ARe you stating that higher taxes and more regulations are stimulative to the economy?  Why is Pfizer, the drug giant trying to move to another country?  Why are so many businesses leaving California and coming to Texas?

What party has the majority in the SENATE?  Do you know of any time in recent history where the party that was not occupying the Presidency didn't try to make the sitting President look bad?  Can you tell me one more time how the national economy is good and the Texas economy is bad?

Smitty, I wish to speak on behalf of Enlightened/Chosen in answering your question.  The President eloquently provides an endless plethora of platitudes that serve to inspire each of us.

I can name a few.  But you are right, there are too many to remember.  Overt/intentional  lies are scandalous enough.

Smitty, these activities are much too intricate and complicated for the common folk to understand.  We should just accept and not question what happened because we know it will ultimately benefit all of us and will help the world believe that we have abandoned our dismissive and arrogant attitudes.

Don't be concerned Smitty.  The Pres is mad as hell about this and there will be an investigation so we can get to the bottom of this.  In a couple of years, there is a possibility that we may have an answer.

No, we don't want to bring up Benghazi because there is absolutely nothing to it.    And Enlightened, the uninformed voters also fell for the "most transparent administration" suggestion and seemingly fell for the promise of a lower debt and 5.5% unemployment by the beginning of the second term.  All BS.  If you are incapable of managing an economy and unable to be accountable when things go wrong, then you are ill qualified for the office, regardless of your birthplace.

Why do you resent people who have accomplished much in their lives and have material possessions to prove it?  ( I understand that you believe you are "yanking my chain" but I have had my chain yanked by people with much more experienced at it than you - but if you want to keep playing, I'm game)

If the markets( rather than the government) determine that the price and quality are competitive, yes.

If there were no "contributions" in the last two elections, what effect would it have had on the outcome? So we need more in the middle class? Ok- Do we try to lift some of the lower class up to the middle class or do we tax the upper class until they become part of the middle class?  We have more programs aimed at helping the lower class than we have ever had and it is proof that throwing more money at it is not the answer.

What the Dove is really saying is " can you find a news source that will convince us that a negative 1% GDP in the most recent quarter is progress"   By the way Dove, what media source is neutral?
