A guard.
No, he is a post man and I am going to predict that this year, as a sophomore, he will be the best post player in the area.
I'm going to have to agree with you on this one Nash.
Come on now, Dove.  We can't have you agreeing with me on anything.  We better change subjects.  Maybe we should talk about ATM locations.

Dangle link=topic=86248.msg1031030#msg1031030 date=1312391305]
Ira Brooks is very well respected in coaching circles in southeast texas and even more so in the entire state of texas.  silsbee will be fine here and this is not a bad move at all.  i would tread lightly for those of you who are criticizing brooks and or silsbee.  their track record proves they know what they are doing over there in silsbee.
Hmmmm. A 3a boys sub-varsity basketball coach very well respected across the entire state of Texas. I went to college with a local 4a freshman boys coach and he's not gotten his "state-wide repect" badge yet he is certified & has been teaching and coaching for 11 years. I suspect foul play!
Please explain.
Freshman & JV coaches are not typically well known much less well respected across the state. Thats all
There are a number of freshmen and jv coaches who are competent.  You are going to find that nearly every successful head coach began his career as one of the two.

 4. It will if the market drops much more
 5. Dove- Has anyone ever told you just how eloquent you really are?
 6.
Yall are nuts...lol
You are right- but there is one difference - we KNOW we are nuts
 7. Saying that is obviously just an opinion.  There is no way to validate any of these "thoughts" including the one that Smith is the top player.
 8. But a seasoned assistant who knows the players and program inside and out.
 9.
so the rumored possibility is going to be the reality.  Hopefully it will work out in the best possible way for the Tigers!
It will work out fine.  They will have a coach (in actuality) who knows the program well and has been very instrumental in their recent successes.  Tigersvoice, its your responsibility to make sure those coaches are not leaning to the left. ::)
 10.

If you adjust for age, Weisbrod is probably the best with Bosha a close second.
Weisbrod is going to have a breakout year since he doesnt have to play behind Forney and Kelvin.. Combine that with the district not having really any size, and I see him being pretty darn good.. But the best player in 20-4A is Smith from Central by a good ways
IF Smith is a senior, I am betting that Weisbrod will have achieved more by the time he is a senior than Smith

 12.
it was HJ v. Wheatley in 2005 HJ lost by about 10 but lead with 5 minutes to go
Wait a minute- how can that be- RedtoRed/BluetoBlue etc etc etc said HJ never played any bigger schools and if they did, could not compete with them
 13. The one thing I like about you Dove is the fact that, just like me, you never try to stir the pot
 14. Recruiting base may be good but the fund flowfrom the alums has slowed a little with the decline in the economy
 15.
I'm hearing the next Silsbee basketball coach will be a white male
Officially? Yes  Practically? no
 16. When the Celtics won their title a few years ago, Tom Thibodeaux was the hottest commodity in the coaching market.  He turned down multiple offers because he wanted a chance to possibly be part of another NBA championship in Boston.  Couple years later he accepted the Bulls job and did very well.  So there is nothing uncommon/abnormal about interviewing and declining a job offer.
 17.
Why would you interview and then not take the job?
Are you serious?  There are multiple situations where a job offer gets turned down at all levels.  It wasnt that long ago that a guy popularly known as Coach K declined an offer from the Lakers.  Roy Williams declined the North Carolina job once before he later took it.  Shaka Smart recently declined an offer from North Carolina State- to name a few
 18. Dont the PA and NO transfers to Tiger Town belong in that group?

 21.
Two good players at this height could be huge for the Tigers but it all depends on who the coach to is and how well all the kids adapt to that coach and his style.
Coach should not be an issue.  I will bet there are plenty of well qualified coaches who would like to have that opportunity.
 22. Do you mean like "change we can believe in"?
 23.
Ray Allen period.
Hard to dispute that.

Connie Hawkins? Jamaal Wilks? Walt Frazier? Dale Ellis?
While it may have been effective, I feel that Frazier and Wilkes shots both looked horrible
BucNasty totally took the swag away
;D
 25. Does the arrival of the two tall bluechippers at Silsbee alter your predictions for the upcoming season?
