I'm sure many are looking for any improvements from last season ;)
I would like to be there.  I want to be one of the first to claim that he witnessed the future champs in their infancy.
One of the few individuals who have supported HF publicily and believe in their future
Thats because I know/understand the power of certain individuals in the background.

But several teams were missing players and hamshire Fannett didn't partake, so its all moot anyway
Why didn't HF partake?
Prudhomme is "da man." I'm not taking any bets against this young man. ;)
How did Nederland hold him? I saw where Ned won the game, but was not able to be there. Did they shut down Prudhomme?
The Nederland -HJ game was a triple overtime affair.  After two overtimes proved fruitless, the ref simply stated that the first score wins.  Nederland was fouled on a rebound and made the free throw ending the game in the third overtime.  I wouldn't say that " Ned held him".

 6. The "accomplishment" might be slightly less newsworthy if the player is 6'5" and the coach is 6'
 7. Couldnt have happened to nicer bunch of guys.  Perhaps now the overt hero worship of Phil Jackson and Kobe Bryant might moderate a little.
 8.
Heard that a local coach(setx) was going up for a rebound and was dunked on by a player......heard it was ugly!     ;D
Thats hard to imagine.

You're going to need the extra work for district play this upcoming season ;D
No need to get there early.  It has already been decided that HJ will struggle to gain a playoff berth this year while Silsbee and West Orange battle for second and third behind HF who, next March, will bring home the state crown.
NO!NO!NO! HF will make playoffs this year. Baby steps......
Ok - But that is not what you had been stating in the past.  What has altered your position.
Nash - can my incoming freshman participate in open gym this summer?
I believe so

That's odd, 10gwh-  I interpreted that comment refers not to the weakness of the HJ varsity but of the Silsbee freshmen.
im sorry but your freshman arent going to win any of your varsity games for you... you should probably be talking about the team that is playing for you right now not 2 years down the road or next year

bmrm, care to recant? ;D
No I don't because I sincerely thought my Hawks would be able to somehow persevere & win district.  Obviously I was incorrect & congratulate Silsbee on proving me wrong.  Just as you are an avid backer of the Tigers, I am the same of my Hawks!!!  I look forward to our continued rivalry & hope for the best for both schools!
I do hope you guys must that you can't stay on top forever. You two will be getting a strong push from HF this year.
Strong Push?  Isn't that a bit of an understatement for next seasons 3-a champs?

Reading skills, Dove, reading skills. ::)
Sorry, I'm dealing with jet lag at the moment.
Jet lag?  Does this mean that the Doves are now involved in international basketball?

 16. The attention will be magnified when they bring home the big trophy next March
why dont you check it for us and come back and give us a full report.  Unbiased of course.
Why would there be any bias in the report you request?  Either they are there or they aren't. Certainly glad there was no bias in your request.
 19. Obviously we cannot fill up the roster with local players.  Once again, I ask all of you naysayers, how many "special" players have there been at Lamar in recent history?  If player A is from Mississippi and player B is from, lets say, Diboll or Jasper, and they have comparable abilities, why does everyone always get so impressed with acquiring the guy from Mississippi?  I haven't seen anything on their roster in recent years that suggests that some other geographical area produces superior players who are willing to play at Lamars level.  When Gulley was taken at Lamar, we heard the same old tired comments:  He is from a small school and therefore can't play with the "big boys"  Mr. Gulley gave Karl Malone all he could handle.
How long ago was that? Who in the last 20 years has come outta the GT that LU could have gotten that was a star somewhere else? The Hancocks were nice players, but not must have players. If PK is going to be successful he is going to have to recruit Houston and DFW hard.
Yes, the Hancocks were "nice" players.  My point is that Lamar has brought in people from far away that were no better than the Hancocks.  Would it make sense that, if you have two players of similar abilities and one of them is from the area, that Lamar might generate a little more local interest/attendance having some of them?

But you're not going to win dependent upon local talent in this area. Sure its good PR and it looks good to see the coach sitting in the stands.
Ever hear of a guy named James Gulley from Newton?  I would also suggest that the last 5 years proves that bringing in the mystery player from "afar" certainly hasnt been the answer either.
 23. I think most of the coaches (at least the good and knowledgeable ones) are aware of that.  Even if a high school coach thinks a kid has the ability and Knight looks him over and disagrees, it is still good PR to have good relationships with people in the same business.
 24. Perhaps he could get to know the area coaches and let them know he would be interested in looking at anyone they thought might have the ability to play at the next level.
 25. Hopefully he will do well.  However, someone over there has to understand that when that attempted layup clanks off the rim and bounces out to the free throw line, it implies that the player may have too much strength and not enough skill.
