I just think that a true bb coach is going to have trouble here due to the fact that the fb coach is not really interested in building a solid program, he wants to build "athletes" which means better football.  JMO" Who would this "good assistant" be???  The assistant that was hired was a head basketball coach and is the only one on the staff with ANY playoff experience.  Who should HF have hired? Does anyone know the list of applicants yet?  AAW has said a few clues as to who has applied but no concrete list.
I have been privy of some of the names on the list (which is still growing, no deadline set yet) but until HF makes it public, then I will not mention any names.
Aggie, don't you guys use the Freedom of Information Act to get those names for your media outlets?
Yes we do. But this is not that important to go to those lengths. ;) ;D
:D Rodney Dangerfield syndrone :D :D Poor HF
Dove- Have you considered changing careers and becoming the next BBALL leader/guru at HF?  If not, I will bet it is because you don't want to lift weights to set an example.

Also a good baseball player. Or so his dad tells me ;D
Oh okay thats him because the coach could not pronounce his last name. [/quote Good player.  Particularly good when you consider his age. \

Please enlighten us all with you superior knowledge of who should be vested with the great honor?
.  I wouldn't know- have only seen two of them. I know better than to offer an unqualified opinion
So we are playing this game huh? Fine.. :D I said Kelvin he was a huge part of Nederland this year and helped his team get to the regional final. Then the other pick was close, so held back from voting again since DC was the only one I have seen more than a few times, this season
What game?  Is there anything wrong with suggesting that in order to evaluate a group of players objectively, that one should have seen them all play and have seen them more than once?
 5.
I thought someone posted earlier that over 40 had applied for the job. Did they trim the fat down to 16, or did only 16 apply.
My guess is that the "40 applicant" suggestion was merely that.
Yea, sure.  And every inmate on death row has suddenly "found God".
C'mon Nash, death row will make you find some kind of supreme being ;D
I agree- and there are some older coaches out there who feel as though they are trapped(sort of a coaches death row) and will say anything to escape their current dilemma.
Not yet.  Simmons is out of the country.  I think Tidwell said they plan to narrow it down to 5 or 10 candidates and then bring them on campus at that point.  They want to have a decision made by April 7th.
Oh really? Then I'm going to keep my mouth shut because I know for a fact  :-X :-X :-X :-X
Dove- Dont go screwing up the hiring process up by trying to convince any of the candidates that the greater coaching opportunity lies somewhere between Beaumont and Winnie.

Know the difference between a baseball and a basketball.
... and I think therein lies the problem.  In the 8th to 9th grade you've got "ballers" as you explained.  Then, for various reasons, the ballers lose their interest/focus.
No- they become weight lifters who play basketball instead of basketball players who lift weights
 15. If my memory is correct, there have been some very fine athletes from this area with the name Hadnot.  I particularly remember a football/basketball player from Kirbyville some years ago.
 16. I like and appreciate that definition.  You did mention something about "if the HF kids apply the rules and principles of playing basketball.  If they do that, they would certainly improve.  But who is to say that the competition won't be doing the same thing?
 17. I have the same recollection.  No Troup stomp, but one heck of Huntington stomp.
Still got one and the weights to go with it.  I hadnt thought about jumping on it anytime soon though!  Those angle jumps are a beast.  We had a red one and by the time we was done with, the paint was wore off.
Your mom would have told you to say "worn off" in lieu of "wore off". Did Coach Hand personally use that machine?  When he used to stomp the floor, the boom that was created suggested a very strong leg.

Lets use HF as the example (again). If our kids apply the principles & rules of playing basketball (skill training, games, mental exercise, etc)  all summer for about 4-5 hours a day, my theory tells me we can whip HJ and Silsbee butt next season ;D
That's a good theory. But in reality, if your kids spent 4-5 hours a day in the gym all summer they'd be burnt out on basketball and HJ and Silsbee would once again whip's HF's butt next season. Just goes to show that there is a difference between theory and reality.  ;)
Ah but the true reality is that true ballers have no problem playing 4-5 hours a day, while the rest play video games. All we need are at least 4 true ballers to carry us in order to beat HJ ;)
Am I correct in assuming that YOU are assuming that the HF kids will play basketball 4-5 hours per day and the HJ kids will spend that same time playing videos?  The results of HJ basketball program do NOT suggest that to be the case.
 21. theory and realilty are often quite different

HJ may go to state next year. Those two studs they have coming back will be hard to handle. Silsbee will play small ball next year and may have a hard time against bigger teams.
Actually, HF will match up well with HJ this year. It will be different if HF gets the right coach to instill dicipline in the team and a will to win.
Who is it that will be matching up with Prudhomme?
Oh thats easy. We have two bigs to help out and quick guards to strip him when put it on the floor. OOPS! Too much info.
Sounds to me like out three point shooter is gonna have a lot of fun when all of those people stop Prudhomme.  Will all four of those (2 bigs and 2 quick guards) going to be new people?  I don't remember any of them doing much of that to him last season.
If HF hires who I think it will be, the new coach will see it ;)
Hmmm- In my own, unsophisticated way of thinking it seems to me that if Prudhomme puts the ball on the floor and one of the bigs "stops" him, will they be employing a very sophisticated rotation system that will enable each subsequently open man to be quickly covered?  If that is the case, then HJ( and probably every other team in the district) is in big trouble.
I know my older kid was coming home sore from weights and gym work. And trust me, the HF team needs more gym time than weight  time.
Very true for nearly every basketball team that wants to improve.
