And put the emphasis on skills instead of strength.
Don't worry about it Zeek.  Palms can be greased if necessary.
Nash, how can you only have a net negative 15 Karma Quotient? ;D 8)  You've offended me more times than that. :o
Something is not right with that Karma count.  Heck, I have intended to offend you with most every post I make.  Are you sure you are reading them all?

One year as an assistant and two years as a head coach. Just dont seem right...lol
Perhaps Gestapo should make him an offer he can't refuse.
 4.
u guys are crazy if you think a former wos coach is applying or has even applied
I know you are right and you know you are right.  However, it makes for great speculation on the board.
 5.
Wildcatter, sounds like a Kentucky boy, agreeeedddd. I remember one time our coach took us to the weight room. We stayed approximately 15 min. Players said, " coach lets go to the gym so we can get better," rest is history, we were pretty good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Weights are for body builders and the gym, well it's March Madness aint it!!!!!!!!
::) ::) ::)
 6.
You are forgetting that a football ad is the guy who is going to be doing the hiring.  We had an opportunity to hire a really good basketball assistant last year, everything checked out on him etc.  Then, at the last moment, a good football assistant opened up and we instead had a new assistant bb coach who had never even played the game. I just think that a true bb coach is going to have trouble here due to the fact that the fb coach is not really interested in building a solid program, he wants to build "athletes" which means better football.  JMO
You are a wise man, sir.

With moderation and timing, a solid weight program can be productive.
Well your talking about building a winning program ,right? Well just how many championships has Howard won?? I seem to have seen were Garnett has 2 championships and he has never lifted. He said that he did not have to lift weights to shot a basketball. Maybe if Howard spent more time working on his jump shot, and less on body building he might win one ;)
Larry Bird and Kevin McHale dont hold any weight lifting records either.  LeBron lifts zero weights and does yoga instead.  I am not anti-weight lifting - there is a need for it- but not at the cost of skill development
 8.
Jamaica will always be there a chance to win a state title won't.
AMEN
 9. Doesnt matter who the coach is if lifting is the main priority
 10. I wouldn't guess that this individual will be too popular when he returns unless there is some extenuating circumstance about which I/we don't know.

 12. With their top player gone on a senior trip, Tatum loses final to Idalou 55-54
 13. By the "new AD" are you speaking of the one who came to HF last year or is there another about to go there?
 14.
Needs to be a really good assistant football coach because now the offseason ad gets to hire the coach.
WHich will likely be the reason there is not much concern for the basketball program.
 15. Isn't "at that time" the only time that matters?  I think the bottom line is:  when the team you support makes it there, you believe in the system- when it doesn't you may be inclined to question the system.  There is no way to quantify who is the best team except with an elimination tournament.  Even a double elimination(which would be too time consuming) would still be open to question as every team did not play every other team.
If you mean D.J. Weathers (hurt in HJ game) he is playing and is as effective as he was in HJ game
 18. 37-35 burk at half
 19. REally doesnt matter that much.  The best 4 get to Austin regardless of where they finished

 21.
[
color=red]I'm sorry, but I haven't seen one person blame Nederland's loss to Ball on anything other than that Ball was the better team.  Can someone
point to any of these alleged posts that claim otherwise. The gripes about the assistant coaches all seemed to claim "Nederland would be even better if...."; Not "Nederland would have beat Ball if....".

Then you obviously did not read the pages of the Final Nederland game where the Assistant Coach was blamed for the loss because he did not tell Coach the Smith had 3 fouls.  My posting was meant to say that Coach Kilchrist knows basketball and works hard for the program. I too would like to see coaches that are hired just for basketball.  Our Varsity football program has 13 coaches, as many as college teams have.  It is outrageous the amount of money and emphasis that is placed on football.  But, my point of the post was to say that Coach Kilchrist is a great man, and he does a great job.   Also, how do we have a STACKED freshmen team.  You have boys that have played basketball for years, and work great together. How does that become a stacked team?  You can not win unless you have a Coach that teaches them to respect one another, not to be ball hogs, and how to run the plays, and that is what Coach Kilchrist did.  Plus he helped coach Varsity, while teaching and Coaching at the Middle School as well.
Judging from the score of the final game, I would have to guess that the outcome would not have changed if smith had zero fouls at the time
 22. NOt only "if the right coach comes along" but also if "another coach gives up some control"
 23.
Damien Bates - Assistant Varsity Basketball Coach at Goose Creek Memorial. He coached under former HF basketball coach Jeff Keener. He is a good x's and o's guy who is a take charge kind of guy. Parents might not like it, because they won't have input which can be a problem at HF. He is very organized and regimented. He is also strong on discipline. He has the fire that HF needs.
Bet they won't hire him if he isnt a UFO disciple.
 24. Hate for that to happen but dont believe raising taxes is the answer.  If they make cuts, they need to look where there might be too many administrative positions before considering teachers
 25.
I think he is upset about Ieans getting the award when, by what he is saying, was a no-factor against Nederland.. I remember the kid from last summer and to be honest, he wasnt good at all.. He must have gotten a lot better, but Im sure he couldnt have done much against the post guys from Nederland.. Maybe the other coaches from the other teams in district voted him, but Coach E probably didnt ;) Another point he made was about the number of Ned players compared to Central or Ozen.. Heck, Ozen did get all their staters named to the team, while Nederland got only 3.. If that entire group got voted on, then they should have beaten the Bulldogs at least once..
The decision was probably made on who could generate their own shot the best instead of the team aspect.
