1.
If Cleveland and HJ play THIS year in the playoffs, Cleveland will win.. Come on steve, ZEEK, or 86hawk!! Let me hear some more history!  :D
I am dying to respond but there are a couple of problems.  Anything I say, including this, will be deemed by the "enlightened" as classless.  Someone on this board recently established that the past could not be mentioned, so I can't say anything in that respect.  Therefore, I am unable to say that last year, HJ was given ABSOLUTELY no chance in the game against Cleveland (by many of the same enlightened)  I am also unable to say that the more athletic Navasota was a cinch to beat HJ after HJ beat them once, after they beat them twice, and after they beat them a third time.  I am curious about one thing.  It was not that long ago that you INSISTED that you didn't want to hear any HJ history- but now you post on here that you WANT to hear history.  Very interesting.  I don't know why we are even talking about Cleveland because the "smart" money has already declared HJ can't get that far.  HJ doesn't have a very good team and, if they are fortunate enough to make the playoffs (because they have won ONLY against poor teams and lost to all the good ones) they will undoubtedly lose the first round to a more athletic team.
 2. I would prefer that no HJ supporter make any blowout/mop the floor predictions for HJ.  A couple of other teams /individuals have found out that these predictions have a way of biting the predicted winner in the a$$.

I think that game in Kountze has slipped many minds.  Cleveland flat-out layed an egg last year against HJ.  These seniors lost in OT by 3 to the Jarvis Benard led Hawks two years ago..and they were all sophomores.
I'm not sure if you can chalk up that win to Jarvis.  If i recall, two traveling calls and several missed free throws by Jarvis were the only reason Cleveland took it into overtime.  I mean, we had them by 7 with a minute to go.
Wouldnt it be better to credit the team for the win or loss or whatever rather than singling out an individual..  Often times, when an individual has impressive statistics, much of it can be credited to action taken by some other teammate(s).  When Gustafson went 4 for 4 from three point range the other night at West Orange, a good portion of the credit for that goes to the defense being overly concerned with the three point shooting ability of Bosha and Sutherland.  So, in spite of not making a single three themselves, I believe Bosha and Sutherland were partially responsible for the success Gustafson had with the long shots.

 5.
Lifting weights is an integral part for any sports team to be able to compete year in and year out. Kevin Durants, and other "freaks" of nature come seldom in a lifetime.  Also, a select few players compared to how many playing in the NBA?  I would truly like more statistics on this one.  It is not how much you lift either; rather conditioning/strengthening of the muscle.  It would be nice if in my coaching career I would get an opportunity to coach someone of this magnitude. It just doesn't happen very often. Secondly, scheduling is the main issue of getting things done when you have both boys and girls sports using facilities as well as other sports that are gearing up for their seasons.  Some of the things I have read make sense and some are just plain ludicrous. Lifting weights or participating in an offseason workout on game days are against UIL rules.  We also have an 8 hour rule that has to be followed.  All of these do it after practice statements or in the morning makes me wonder if some of you are following the UIL guidelines?? Head coaches control their sports and AD's control the sports program at that school or district. AD's are to develop the athlete in every sport.  A conditioning program that includes weights, cardio, and skills must be implemented across the board for this to occur.  I have been a head coach for several years and know that in some years this has been the only way we could have competed at all.  These conditioning programs also fosters mental toughness something that has diminished drastically from our high school athletes in the last 5-10 years. I am sure we are making our athletes lift weights to PUMP our ego.  Go figure. Nice try for some of you our there trying to shift the blame.
Have no interest in where blame is "shifted".  Just tell me why the coaches in basketball, baseball, and other sports are less qualified to prescribe/supervise the lifting program for kids who are not involved in the football program.  Could they possibly know that some alternative weight program would be more beneficial to a participant in another sport? The "other" method creates the impression that football is the only sport that matters.  When you say it was "the only way we could have competed at all" are you referring to football or some other sport?  If you believe Kevin Durant is the exception, please show me the well developed speed/strength of Larry Bird, Kevin McHale and Bill Walton.

And all of my predictions are close. Sorry! :'(
Dove- Because of your predictive capabilities, I am going to go ahead and ask you that "if" Hj makes the playoffs and "if" they win enough playoff games to ultimately face Cleveland, should they forfeit and avoid the embarrassment?  What do you think will happen "if" the Longhorns somehow get to the playoffs and ultimately encounter Cleveland?
I'm a practical person. HJ should play Cleveland for the experience ;D HF ain't going to playoffs this year.
I just hope we reach the point where playing Cleveland becomes a concern.  I think the only way to insure that this happens is to have the HJ player lift twice daily on game days.

I would like to see them win it all or at least get to the title game, but they had some serious off nights. A lack of focus can hurt this late in the season. 12. How did it turn out?

Oddly enough, he leads the NBA in scoring. Furthermore, I think it might be a serious mistake to fully define athleticism as muscles/speed only.  Much of it, in my opinion has to do with hand-eye coordination and development of same.  Its difficult for me to believe that lifting can help that as much as repetition of the selected athletic movement.
Brilliant piece of
I hadn't finished this sentence :D
I understood that.  I also understood that, whatever the ending of the sentence was (good or bad) it certainlly would pale in comparison to your ability to predict the future.
