Hope the HJ faithful dont get too upset when Silsbee gives them another "L" in Sour Lake ;D :D
Ahhh, but that's why they play the game..... which was exactly my point. You watched HJ at their worst when they played Nederland (granted, Nederland was a big reason for that...) and you saw Silsbee probably at the best against Ball. He already knows he misjudged earlier in the year with his predictions for HJ
The one and only thing I was wrong about is that this message board would be quiet with all the Hawklette fans crying about the loss.. :D ;D Guess my judgement has some fallacy there ::) And Im not sure I was far off because the facts are : (1) Y'all still haven't beaten a relevant basketball team, like I said.. (2) Silsbee still won the game, like I said.. Granted It wasn't by 15 like I thought, it was by 8.. Now you two can calm down and accept that HJ loss, and stop trying to bash people who actually made an accurate judgement call about a match-up and picked the winner, instead of picking with their heart and pulling for the team they have always loved ;)
Rationalize all you want Dogs. Hj still has a very good team and you cant stand it- But the best part is you can do NOTHING about it. Relevant? In whose eyes? Yours? Give me a break. If Silsbee is the #1 team in the area and HJ is so weak, how is it that this weak team had the #1 team down 12 in the first half on their home court. I anxiously await your "wisdom".

Hj is at the bottom of the district standings.!!!! Looks like your predictions of "the beginning of the end" are in their infancy. Congratulations on your prescience.

They won no matter the circumstances. Dont make excuses once the game is over, there are too many variables to say this of that, you could say the kid for Silsbee that went out of the game would have made 4 3's if he wouldnt have went out. You dont know what you dont know.
Who was giving sour apples (or grapes, for that matter?) I didn't think anybody was claiming they lost for any other reason then they got beat.
Thank you- I was going to ask the same question. I would like to be pointed toward the post that suggests sour grapes/apples
If Silsbee coaches watch this game the way I did, there are several ways I would play HJ different next go around. Gustofson is a one handed point guard with no confidence in his shot. Prejohn only plays on the left side of the block. Silsbee did a nice job of doubling down on him in the 4th. The Sutherland kid doesn't too much on the floor. Yes he is a good set shot shooter but if you pressure him to dribble it takes away that shot. Looks like Bosha thinks he's playing MTV Rock n Jock basketball. He thinks he can get 25 points for those long 3's. He needs to come closer. Prudhomme will go for any pump fake you give him. DRIVE THE BALL.
Maybe his theory is that an long open three (before defender can get into position) has a better chance than a shorter contested three. By the way, he had 8 in one game earlier this season from that range.( ( an eight foot putt aint much easier to make than a 10 footer) Additionally, if you take one thing away, you normally give up something elses. Persohn is right handed and has no trouble shooting a right handed layup. He simply was taking what the defense would give.
I never said we would have won by more just said he would have mada a difference. Don't you feel that even though his assistants could do well if Sutherland missed the game it would have an effect?
Thats enough. It was all (intentionally) taken out of context to begin with.

Yes it wouldn't have changed the way we played but it would have given a thirdbset of eyes on the bench, and more ideas strategy wise. Would it have made much difference in the outcome is guess work but he definitely would have made a difference. He wasn't given the job for no reason!
Ok Ok - If you would have had Travis, you would have won by 20. Not sure I am the only" naive" one posting here.
I dont know about that. ;) ;D
If you "dont know" then you, too, must be naive
But it's still missing personel, contrary to what you posted. ;) I am not that certain on the "operating in the same manner" but I agree the result would have been the same. ;D
Contrary? That assumes the reader doesnt fully understand the context of what was written (and I believe you do) But thats ok. I stand corrected. I dont mind nit picking stuff because I have been known to sniff out a few of those myself.

The Hawks came to play but I believe our depth finally wore them out. DC is very good and a lot of the plays he makes don't show up in the statistics. We hit our FTs down the stretch while the Hawks didn't. Gus proved how good a PG he is. He seemed to find the open man at will. When we made our run in the fourth, he was the only Hawk who seemed to handle the pressure. Bosha is gonna be a thorn in the Tigers side for quite a while. I thought rebounding in the first half was big for the Hawks as well. And when we would start a little run in the first half HJ would end it with a big shot. One of those being a LONG rang 3 by Bosha. Everything you could expect from this rivalry.
Just wondering if those "Silsbee is a 20-30 point better team" disciples still adhere to that contention.
Just goes to show you can win with talent even when your main leader is missing in action. ;D
Hmmmm Not aware of any missing personel for either team
I would say Silsbee not having Travis on the bench qualifies as missing personel. ;) Also. Silsbee was missing Rhone, a key backup, who was gone on a football recruiting trip. HJ still missing Anderson.
I think you and I both know that Silsbee would have operated in the same manner whether Travis was there or not so I would suggest it had no bearing on the outcome of the game.
I don't see these teams spliting this season. HJ is much better than what I thought but so is Silsbee. IMO HJ may have played their best game of the year where Silsbee (who had another 6 day break) will be stronger the next time they play in 2 weeks.
And how would you know this was HJs best game of the season? Prudhomme, Gus, and Persohn all playing with four fouls while Mr. Stallworth had 0? Dont you find that rather interesting?

Note to Silsbee ISD lower the volume on music. And lower the roof on gym for the next 3 years so Bosha won't be able to shoot. ;)
an additional note- one national anthem is sufficient for the evening
It didn’t bother me Both young women did a wonderful job Agree about the singers. However, dont see the need to play/sing the anthem twice within a 90 minute period
