Lufkin Hudson @ HJ Predictions
stevenash replied to UncleDrew's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Haven't seen HJ this year but watched Hudson last night vs Henderson. Hudson not as strong as years past, depends heavily on one player, Davis. Take HJ in an easy win.
HJ will have very few "easy wins" this year. I would further bet that there will be nothing easy about the Hudson game. -

They have caught up to the AMericans in the last 10-20 years. A lot of good stuff comes from the overseas style and just to add this little bit, the Europeans/Argentina are a HUGE advocate of teaching to be able to generate your own shot within the team play. Why do you you think they run the pick in role so much? Bring their big man out high to play? That is why the 1-5 players on their team skills are so similar, they do not designate this guy a post and this a guy a point. They teach them how to play not just do a particular skill of the game. I watched all of the Fiba games and if you will notice, the NBA draft is almost drafting as many players overseas than they do from America. Overseas or other players from different countries can definetly generate and create their own shot. They teach every player to dribble, pass and shoot. Point to Post.
You love getting Steve Nash all worked up don't you :D
Kinda fun, don't you think?

I'll put your name back in the bucket for responsible reporting. ;)
But can he generate his own shot?
It depends. More of a spot up shooter. Against an athletic team like Silsbee, probably won't be able to create own shot. HJ,probably will kill yall with 3's
Killing HJ with threes will be interesting. I will be at your gym but you may not be at ours. I will definitely report to you if he made it to double digits in threes.
I said "kill yall with 3's." Not make 3's. ;D The one thing I know about 3-point shooters is this: They will keep their team in the game or they will their team out of the game. ;)
Believe it or not, there are a few out there with sufficient mentality to not take too many shots when they arent falling.
Sorry, but Dove knew what I was doing and I will not be making formal announcements for everyone else on the board whenever I make a post. And by the way, asking someone how he personally defines/perceives nice people is hardly an indictment of anyone else. There were no words used that criticized any of those mentioned.

You cant compare scores in the paper or game to game situations. You can get a little info this way but not as much as you would think.
Ah, heres a person that knows basketball. I'll find me a match to stop a spot up shooter in high school basketball anyday. Getting Nash started up again ;)
I am here and ready to start. I would disagree with you because "some people" forget that basketball is a team game where all five players have a role (at least for the better teams) in making things happen. Some defender might be capable of stopping a spot up shooter one on one, but a decent coach will get that shooter shots regardless of how good the particular defender is. It really isnt that difficult to force "that defender" to cover someone else via screen/multiple screens. Additionally, any spot up shooter who is going to be "shut down" by the defender will have that defender in his face. Even the slowest of the slow that has any kind of basketball intellect has a response to that type of defensive effort. If that defender holds his spot up shooting opponent to no shots taken or very few taken, the spot up shooter has simply provided some of his teammates with additional opportunities they might otherwise not have had.
I knew you would come out sooner. But you make valid points. Lets just hope the "other teammates can score.
IF none of the teammates can score, then your "team" has little chance.
Give me a true point guard with the ability to score (shoot & drive), pass the ball, he'lll make his weaker teammates look good ;)
He sure will. However, it takes more than a great point guard to make a team successful. I am pretty sure that Kevin Johnson, John Stockton, Allen Iverson, Jason Kidd, and Gary Payton(among others) would confirm my contention.
