HARDIN-JEFFERSON vs. EVADALE Broadcast/H-J wins 61-26!

You cant compare scores in the paper or game to game situations. You can get a little info this way but not as much as you would think.
Ah, heres a person that knows basketball. I'll find me a match to stop a spot up shooter in high school basketball anyday. Getting Nash started up again ;)
I am here and ready to start. I would disagree with you because "some people" forget that basketball is a team game where all five players have a role (at least for the better teams) in making things happen. Some defender might be capable of stopping a spot up shooter one on one, but a decent coach will get that shooter shots regardless of how good the particular defender is. It really isnt that difficult to force "that defender" to cover someone else via screen/multiple screens. Additionally, any spot up shooter who is going to be "shut down" by the defender will have that defender in his face. Even the slowest of the slow that has any kind of basketball intellect has a response to that type of defensive effort. If that defender holds his spot up shooting opponent to no shots taken or very few taken, the spot up shooter has simply provided some of his teammates with additional opportunities they might otherwise not have had.
I knew you would come out sooner. But you make valid points. Lets just hope the "other teammates can score.
IF none of the teammates can score, then your "team" has little chance. -

D.C. Stallworth vs Terran Petteway Match up Tonight

Any relationship to Terrell Pettaway who came from Galveston and played at Lamar a few years ago? -
One thing is for sure when you have to foul HJ Gus is the last one on the court that you want to foul!!
But as the point guard, he is going to have the ball and one defender will not be able to force him to give it up. He played the last few minutes with a badly bruised heel and could not keep his balance. Good accomplishment to make those free throws in such a circumstance.
They are going to have their hands full with Tatum tomorrow. Tatum beat Kountze very decisively.
Yes they did... We had one of our top scorers out after a broken leg in the Barbers Hill game and our leading scorer was out with 2 min left in the third because he fould out.... in which we had got the lead down to 11pts.... But yes HJ will have their hands full Tatum is good... And as far as HJ making a statement... not a hard thing to do against EC...
I dont think your top scorer would have been that effective in this game. I rarely see games where Kountze is the lesser of the two teams in terms of overall speed and quickness but it certainly was the case tonite.

Seriously. I miss it. Charra beans better than Pappasito's. The pizza place a few blocks west on 105 was pretty good, too. There was a new soul food place, Mother's, in downtown Sour Lake, near El Jalapeño-- they had good food, but I don't know if they're still in business. After the game in Sour Lake: DQ. There's been a Sonic rumored to be in the works for at least the last five years, but DQ's still got the monopoly on fast food in Sour Lake, far as I know. Of course, Big Rich's gumbo, served every year at the HJ Tournament, is Sour Lake's culinary ne plus ultra. Bon appètit, basketball peeps!
All this talk about HF is killing me. When was/did HF become relevant when it came to basketball? I keep thinking i am reading the Football or Baseball page. To say that HF will be district champs in the future would be like me spitting out non sense that the HJ Football team will dominate district in the upcoming years. Neither is going to happen. Every now and again, HJ football will win just enough games to make it the 3rd team in district. Same with HF in basketball. One year not a dynasty made. In 3 or 4 or 20 years, HF may win a few basketball games and may not be the district step child. But for now, please know your role. I will continue to keep my mouth shut when it comes to HJ football and beat my chest when they finally win vs proclaiming their dominance in the distant future and look like the village idiot to everyone reading this page. HJ very well could have a down year this year, but i don't know what you've seen to base that on. like lazeek said, they should've beaten a decent 4A LCM, and lost by 2, but that was after playing something like 7 games in the previous 6 days, and then having a several hour drive home from the AP tourney on Sunday. they've also been without 2 starters. that's only going to make them stronger, as two younger guys have gotten a ton of playing time to start the year. but hey, i'll take another "down year" if it means 28-30 wins and a run several rounds deep into the playoffs. we have those types of "down years" every year.
You can't stay on top FOREVER!!!!!!!!!! Accept that maybe this is the year or the beginning of the fall of the HJ Empire. Get over it fellas. You had a nice long run. LET IT GO!!!! :D
Part of the reason for success is not getting over it and doing your best not to let it go. Key self perpetuating ingredients for a successful program. -

Don't think they will contend in their district. Some teams rise to trash talk, while others fold.
Some teams will improve and others will stay the same and others will decline.
