The ones that mess up.............say see ya to em.  The ones that don't make you look like a genius.  You cannot and I repeat cannot win in FCS football without taking chances like this!
False, Sczur up at Villanova almost lead that team to a second national championship and he is a model citizen. You don't have to be a program that shops at Thugs-R-Us for quality football players
 2.
I've talked to D quite a few times and he stays by the fact that he's coming to LU, and he is very excited. I still expect everything to be worked out.
This isn't Central, he can't just say he wants to play and the teachers make it work. He's got to be eligible, and ineligibility is the story of this kids life.
 3. I'm honestly a little surprised that y'all lost. I honestly expected an LU win, but I guess Marlin still knows how to be Roc
 4. I honestly thought that coming home for him would mean 1 of 2 things. He could realize that he messed up earlier in life and this is a chance to come home and grow up, or it would mean he'd get back into his old habits. Look like the latter happened, which is a shame because he could have been a beast at this level. At least ACU is a pretty decent squad.
 5. Outside of disciplinary issues, this guy looks to be a solid pick-up. Woodard seems to have really focused on addressing all of their immediate needs.
As a Lamar fan it'd be great to see Forney excel at Lamar.  Only time will tell but it appears he has the size and skills to succeed at the D1 level.
I think that's true for all the recruits. All fans want to see their recruits become successful, but sometimes, there are some question marks on the team, this is one of them.
 7. They went to the playoffs in 2002, but lost, and they almost went again this year.
 8. This isn't a traditional Marlin team, this team is BAAAD. He inherited some garbage players over there.
 9.
it's funny how ya'll can talk about kids like that. How can you say he is not that good when he turn the program around ima laugh at you allcause all ya'll are doing is being jealous cause ya'll couldn't live ya laugh
Turn them around how? Took them to a first round playoff loss to Crosby? That's not overly impressive.
 10.
JJ, I was talking about him transferring to another FBS school.
I just jumped down to the very bottom post, my bad.
 11.
Maybe but that means sitting the bench another year. He is a freshman redshirting then have to sit out due to NCAA transfer rules. That also means he'll lose a year of eligibility.
Johnson wouldn't have to sit our a year because he's transferring from an FBS school to an FCS school. He's eligible as soon as he commits to Lamar. If he were transferring to Baylor or another lateral school, then he would lose a year of eligibility.
 12. Roc can obviously coach, since you guys have a high power-high scoring team. However, defense is key in the SLC, and once you get to go against SFA/SHSU/UTSA, it'll be a different story. However, you guys should drop 100 on TSU-SM
 13.
Should not be a surprise to anyone.  Lamar's number one problem, lack of quality coaching.
Or defense?
 14.
Three of the six posted have a lot to do with the way the game is played now compared to twenty years ago. Two have to do with our offensive sheme and that starts with the OC. 9 rushing attempts is unbelievable. As for a the RB JJ is talking about at Sam; he was a coverted LB to RB and it worked out well for the Bearkats and the young man. But, it isn't like he was a four year star RB for SHSU either.
It's a shame he wasn't. He could have done a lot better had he gotten 4 years instead of 2. James Aston the last 2 years (pre injury) was pretty good too.

Im sure he came close a couple of times at Sam too.
Not really, we actually had some very good running backs during his tenure here. One of them even got up enough notice to walk on the Jacksonville team, he played a little in preseason, but never made the field. Ventured over to the UFL, but the team later signed two premier backs.

 17.
I was half-kidding about the WAC inviting UNT, UTA, LU, ASU and ULL.  I think the WAC may be in serious trouble now, which is too bad because if it goes away it will limit the options of LU, SHSU and others of moving up in the future.  I know this will never happen, but I'm for the WAC losing USU and SJSU and adding LU, ASU, ULL, maybe another Texas school or two, plus grabbing Wichita State and Missouri State from the MVC.  You'd have a pretty good basketball and baseball conference with potential to be a good football conference.  It won't happen for a number of reasons but I think it'd be a nice regional conference with potential.
I agree with you on the basketball/baseball side, but it would probably become the single worst football conference ever to grace FBS.
 18.
Good move by TCU.  I wouldn't be surprised if the MWC invited Utah State, and if they do then aren't they basically the old WAC reincarnated? Maybe the WAC can hold on and invite Lamar, North Texas, Arkansas State and UL-Lafayette and UTA so the WAC can become the old SLC reincarnated.
UNT has been invited three (maybe more) times, and has declined each one. UTA doesn't have football, and has no plans for football, so inviting them wouldn't save the conference. They need a certain number of football teams to stay an FBS conference. UL-La is at risk of not having enough athletic funding and the travel budget of the WAC would kill them.
 19.
Ok.  Now for reality.  We lost by 32 to a mediocre smu team.  Central arkansas nearly beat smu.  We barely beat a poor ut pan am team.  We cannot play defense.  Oh and roc won't play zone.  So we lose 97 to 64.
You just said Lu 77 UT 75. Is that your trick? Predict two scores, one going each way so that way, whichever is right is the one you brag about?
 20.
LU      81 tu      113
Considering only #16 Illinois has put up the most points on Texas, at 84, I don't see Lamar putting up that much. The Horns have a scrappy defense.
 21.
Just looked at the box score.  Texas State was down 55-35 at the half then scored 73 points in the 2nd half and that wasn't enough to win the game.  And they just beat UTPA by 13 on the road a few days ago.   :o
They scored that many because about 8 OLL players fouled out. They can barely beat their second and third strings
 22.
I didn't see any of the highlights of this game on ESPN last night with Lou Holtz and the gang.
Lou Holtz is a putz. I dislike that guy

The Alabama starters will probably play 1 or 2 quarters, get up by 30 or 40 and then the 2nd and 3rd teams will come in and add a few more.
jj come on now it got ugly !!! quickly
Nah, it easily could have been over 100, but they didn't.
So 63-7 isn't ugly?  Wow...I guess that shows it is all in your perspective.
No, it really isn't. If they had left their starters in the whole game, then it would have been way worse. NO ONE thought it'd be anywhere close to a nail biter, but honestly 56 points isn't THAT bad.

 25.
Well, UNLV, if you did that you know what you'd have???? a 2010 version of the Southland Conference, think about it. Those are the same schools that belonged to the southland. I understand what you mean, but i really wouldn't call it the "big table" just yet....& yes it is prostituting yourself...lok at the out of conference schedules they have to play...you're setting yourself up for failure. 6-5 year in & out is not going to be attractive for fans. Just my opinion.
6-5 gets you to a bowl game. At this point, you guys would come close to 6-5 (In that conference) anytime in the next 10+ years. Nothing kills fans like a couple losing seasons.
