2.
If the WAC folds, should we take UTSA and Texas st back?    ;D
They wouldn't come back, they'd flounder as an indep and then try to find a conference. The WAC is at risk of not being an actually football conference now that Hawaii has made the jump. I believe that the remaining teams in the league all have/had losing records this past season or the one before. The WAC this year: * - Boise State 5-0 9-0 GONE * - Hawaii 5-1 7-3 GONE * - Nevada 4-1 9-1 GONE * - Fresno State 4-2 6-3 GONE Louisiana Tech 3-3 4-6 Utah State 2-4 4-6 Idaho 1-4 4-6 x - New Mexico State 1-5 2-8 x - San Jose State 0-5 1-9 TSU-SM 0-1 Against FBS this year UTSA 0-0 Trust me, you don't want to be grouped with these guys. The WAC has just taken a nose dive. Don't be surprised if you see the other teams trying to get out before it's too late
 3.
63-7 final. Alabama pulled their starters at the beginning of the 3rd I believe.
Alabama QB and RB were out before halftime, and I think Mark Ingram was done with about 10 minutes left in the 2nd Q or so.
 4. I actually don't think it will get that ugly. The Alabama starters will probably play 1 or 2 quarters, get up by 30 or 40 and then the 2nd and 3rd teams will come in and add a few more.

A recruiting coach merely finds the guys, it's up to the head coach to really get them to commit.
Just admit that you confused early signing with football commitments and get on to some other reason why you don't like Lamar
I never said anything about it being getting commits. NOTB posted a thing about not recruiting the Houston area, AWAN posted something about screwing Houston, and I posted about him wanting to make a Golden-Triangle all-star team, something I've said in the past on other boards. Get over yourself.
 6.
Leave it to a Sam fan to not see the sarcasm in a post and point out some weakness in an otherwise fictitious argument.  ;)
Thanks, I do my best!  ;D ;D After those fist two games, I would have been on the "Give him an extension" bandwagon, but since then, eh.
 7.
Yes the relationship with the coach will ultimately be a factor. But it is not always a factor. Look at recruits who commit to certain assistants (i.e. Charlie Strong at UF), then he turns around and takes the head job at Louisville, and brings a couple of guys along that were close to committing to UF, if not committed.
That may be true, and I wouldn't doubt it one bit, but the head coach has the final say on who gets recruited. I'd find it very hard to believe that a recruiting coordinator is going to get a commit without the coaches approval. I'm sure the coach trusts the RC, but he has the final say.

I'm usually not a fan of jersey retirements until well after they're gone. Gilbert needs to define himself as Gilbert. He might be trying too hard to be like Colt, and that only works for Colt.
That is what a lot of people are saying. He is trying too hard to be like Colt. He just needs to be himself.
I think that's true for just about any athlete, which is probably why Kitna struggled so much right after Romo went down. Even veterans want to go in and prove that they can be just as good as the guy before them. Gilbert will get better, and will be yet another QB from UT drafted, hopefully he can do a better job of staying in the pros then some of the ones before VY
 9.
Garrett Gilbert was a 5 star recruit and the 2nd rated QB in the country when he was recruited out of Lake Travis HS. I as a UT fan hope this is just a sophomore jinx and he'll improve and well as the team. I hope he hasn't lost confidence in himself because once that happens at the QB position it is hard to get it back.
His big problem is he followed behind Colt McCoy who gets his jersey retired the very next season. I'm usually not a fan of jersey retirements until well after they're gone. Maybe this is early on-set senility.

 12.
Those DII schools are better than most people think because they can take in juco transfers who have 36 or more hrs and they don't have to graduate. So, there are a lot of kids that fall down that path and are taking up by these DII schools. OPSU will probably be a lot like Langston and we better be ready to play or they could upset us as it is the last game of the season for both programs. We need to get the off season started off in the right direction and that is with a victory Saturday.
That would be devastating to a program that's done as much as it has over the course of this year. That would probably leave a bitter taste in the mouths of a lot of Cards.
 13.
So we have the worst rushing offense in college football, one of the worst defensive lines in FCS play, our QB has turned the ball over more than 20 times in 10 games, our offensive linemen and defensive linemen are outmatched every week and we have a trick pony offense.  Yet we are probably going to finish the season with 5 wins!  Sounds like Coach Woodard needs an extension if he can win five games with the clustermess that he had to work with his first year.
But those 5 wins come against: Webber International SELA Langston South Dakota OKPU (Probably) 2 legit wins. I don't think any coach who can only beat sub DI teams gets contract extensions. The SELA win would be more impressive if they weren't 2-8 on the season or USD which is 4-7. I actually don't remember how many wins I predicted for Lamar, I wanna say that I had said 4, the three against sub D-I comp and 1 against either Ga State or USA.

He said, Lineman, lineman and more lineman; then the best athletes available. We are small for a FCS level school on the OL and DL. I heard one of the DL for Lamar was outweighed by over 100 lbs by a SD O-Lineman.
The game is always won in the trenches. If you can't establish that area then a few things happen: You can't run the ball, you won't have a dynamic passing attack, sacks will happen too many times, and fumbles will happen because the defense is getting to the ball right on the snap On the defensive side, you'll give up huge rushing yards to opponents and big pass plays because they have time to throw
Sounds like you have seen a few of our games! ;)
I think I've seen 4. The defense has progressed nicely over the course of the season, but the DL still needs a lot of work. The team averages 1.0 sack per game, which ranks them near the bottom, tied for 107. Luckily, they aren't the WORST team at Tackles for Loss, but it's still in the bottom 1/4
 15.
I know what you are saying in that several RB have stayed away from UT because the system Greg Davis runs, but it's not like the are not recruiting talent at RB.  Chris Whaley was a 4 star RB but has done NOTHING at UT at this point.
There are a lot of 4 and 5 star recruits that go to these schools and do nothing after 4 years. Most of them are smart, and after 2 years, they transfer down to the FCS level for a shot to play immediately.

 19.
I did not say Hall is not better, I just do not think the results would be any different this year. Hall is faster for sure, better than all the backs we have, we'll see......
If he couldn't get on the field for A&M and Tulsa, we may never know. Just because he was recruited by those schools, doesn't mean he had the ability to be a contributor. There are plenty of players who get recruited by the big schools, and then leave after 2 years because they're buried in the depth chart. They go to an SLC school and do "alright," look at Tyler Beatty at SELA. He was recruited by Baylor and then ended up at SELA and hasn't done much. Before thinking Hall is the savior to all your problems, just remember football is a team effort. Hell, SELA is one of the bottom teams in the conference this year, even with the Baylor QB calling the shots.
 20.
I just hope its still an open competition. If JJ does come I hope he isn't handed the job because of how highly rivals may rank him.
It seems that maybe Bevil was handed the job because of his age (experience) and connections with Woodard. I'm sure Prewitt will only get better, and since Johnson probably won't be working out with a football team in the spring, it may set him back a little bit.

Because the 204th ranked FCS team, below SELA at 200? By these rankings, that would make you last in the SLC, and considering the only SLC team you beat was SELA, I would venture to say that unless some major changes happen in less than a year (Jeremy Johnson coming in, Derrick Hall being eligible, a new offensive line, and improved special teams), you may find yourself at the bottom of the SLC next year. Oh, and South Alabama is ranked WAY too high according to these numbers, way way too high.
