1.
#157 Stephen F Austin - Returning three top scorers from balanced offensive attack, expect the Lumberjacks near the top of the conference. Who's left on the schedule?  Texas, TAMU-CC and SHSU?
TAMU-CC came in at #191 TAMU-CC - Seniorss J. Reynolds (10/6/1) and D. Watt (13/8/2) should provide an exciting frontcourt duo for the Islanders this year.
 2. They lost a lot of early games, but they did keep it interesting with South Alabama, only losing 39-34 and it was in Alabama. Lamar has the unfortunate opportunity to play in the Georgia Dome. I do see Lamar keeping it interesting, but I'm going to have to go with the trend and say that Lamar loses this one too. SoGA 28 Lamar 14
 3.
Because a true fan supports their team through the good an bad times.
You can support a team without going to the games. I support the Kats, I still buy t-shirts and hoodies, and I promote the school where I am. Attendance at a game doesn't make you a fan, it's like the good ol' saying, siting in a garage doesn't make you a car.
You have been supporting the Kats the past 5 years, right?
BigRed, actually 6, and this will be my 7th. I was a Kats fan in HS when I was deciding which college to attend. Every fan has to start some time, I'm just a bit younger than most fans. However, I will say this, I'm not a t-shirt fan like a lot of people I went to school with. My school was a heavy A&M area, but it seemed like after UT won the national championship, I saw more UT shirts than I had ever seen in my life. That reason alone is why I never wanted to go to UT or A&M, THAT is a badnwagon fan, not a true supporter
First since your not an Lamar alumnus, but an alumnus from another rival school you couldn't understand. For you to post this makes no sense. If your not an alumnus but a local who supports Lamar because it is in your back yard then the story is different. I can see if we had 10 years of losing football teams then you might become disillusioned and stop supporting the team. But we have less than one season under our belts. Anyone who stops supporting Lamar now isn't a fan worth having anyways. For myself who will graduate this year and become an alumnus of the university my support is life long. I want us to win but if we don't I'm not going to stop supporting the team. Lamar means much more to me than just a sports franchise, it's where I have been tailored into the person I am today.
Actually, I do understand because Coach Whitten drove our program into the ground in his final years. I was fortunate to come to one of Ron Randleman's last games with PNG great Dustin Long right before the deep playoff run. Whitten inherited a great team and did nothing with it. I know what it's like to be excited about a season, your players, your hopes for the year, and then to see them piddle away with poor coaching. What Whitten has done to the Cards offense over the last few games is what he did to the Kats offense in the last two years. How Bomar got drafted with Whitten as a coach, still amazes me. Lamar is that back yard team that I want to see do well against non-SLC competition. Hell, I want the whole SLC to perform well and boost the conference as a whole. It benefits everyone in the conference when there's success. I saw a lot of people give up on Sam and stop donating to the school because of how poorly the football team is doing, in my mind, that's unacceptable. If you don't want to support the football team because they're putting a poor product on the field, that's one thing, but I don't think you should ever stop supporting your alma mater. If you don't go to games because you don't like what's on the field, that's fine. If someone stop supporting Lamar entirely (not buying shirts, not donating to scholarships, not visiting campus) because of the football team, that's unacceptable in my book.
 4.
Coachacola I have learned you are the guy with the answers about anything Lamar. However, I find that difficult to believe because Lamar was paying Coach Tidwell as the WBB HC $135,000 plus benefit's which I believe is a car, up do now he has been living in the dorms and a meal plan as he eats for free at the dinning hall. That was his salary before becoming WBB HC/AD. I would think Coach Woodard would make more as football is a revenue producing sport and the Lady Cardinals BB team averaged about 2k last season.
Football also requires a lot of money for scholarships, facilities, and 3 times as many coaches. That price is really good compared to other coaches in the SLC who have an established D-I track record. If you want to know his salary, you can always request the information from the school, they have to tell you, but it could take a while. Universities have to publish their annual budget, and I know Sam's is online, but I don't know about Lamar. in 2009, Whitten was slated to make 115,000. I can't find the budget for this year, but I'm sure Fritz probably makes about 100,000 (I have no clue though)
 5. Before you rag on Drew Little too much for his height, he is a REALLY good passer: Little, Drew 7 games played 143.96 passer rating 112-173-4 for 64.7% 1216 yards 13 TDs They are a very well balanced team, 146 ypg rushing and 190 ypg passing.
 6. I don't think Lamar could afford Todd Dodge, he would probably need more money than Woodard is making.
 7.
You call that proof? I have several relatives and friends who have been in the coaching profession or they are currently coaching. That has no barring on my knowledge of the game of football and neither does your relationships cause you to know more. Honestly, I am very surprised that the son of a high school coach who won a state championship thinks he knows as much about the game as people who it is their JOB to know the game. Thanks for the prior post, as we can all see you are a fair weathered fan. Support when they win and stay away when they aren't.  ::)
Why give your money to Lamar when they are producing what they have in the past few games. There's a difference in supporting the University and supporting a poor product on the field. Would you go to the local theater if they always had choppy films just because they are a local business that needs supporting? I doubt it. College athletics is like any other business. If you want support then you need to produce a consistently good (doesn't have to be great) product.

It's hard to get a school to play you if you're not counting towards their DI win column total. It's different for Lamar when it comes to FCS games like McNeese, SHSU, and SFA because we recruit in that area. We want to be able to play the Cardinals and show the local kids how much better our schools are, yada yada yada. It's the same reason that all the FBS schools are lining up to play UTSA, who has never played a down of football, and it's because San Antonio is a recruiting hot bed.
So there weren't/aren't schools that play against South Alabama that would want to show kids they are better than them for recruiting purposes?  Weak argument
Weak argument in favor of why you're playing a tougher schedule, I guess you don't want to be proud of playing a tough schedule, fine by me. I couldn't care less.
 9.
Toughest non-conference home game on Dec 22: #179 Canisius - Griffs will miss F. Turner at PG slot, but have improved by 4-5 games every yr with this senior class -- 19 wins this yr?
I have literally NEVER heard of that school.

 11. If you look at just the box score, you would think the game was a lot closer.
true i remember that jj, will sam cover 8 1/2 tonight? thinkin' about taking them.
I think they will spoil NWSU's homecoming. I think they've gotten some good draws on the last two games, a TSU team that was down after a 4OT loss to Nicholls and a UCA team that is usually up and down week to week.
 13. UND is a good team, I'm not surprised they've taken hold this second half. I think they may have over looked Lamar for the first half, but they came back
 14. #226 SE Louisiana - The Lions need srs T. Hutchin (11/1) and G. Dixon (8/1) to replace P. Sullivan (16/9/2) and D. Forest (11/2).
You win the prize! #243 Lamar - Backcourt trio A Miles, K Harris and C Harper and top-10 recruiting class should make the Cardinals dangerous this season.
I'm not really surprised. It seems as though they just take whatever the SID is putting out. I don't know how dangerous a team can be at the 243 position?
 16.
Another eastern division team makes the list: #246 Nicholls St - A Bose (21/6/2) and F Hunter (14/5) return to a team that almost beat Sam Houston St to go to Big Dance.
Only because Anatoly is a beast. Without him, Nicholls is the garbage team of the SLC. I actually feel bad for Bose being on that team. Had he been on just about ANY other team, he would be contending for a ring.
 17.
Even with their starting QB, this should be a statement game for Lamar. 2 weeks to prepare, now healthy.... I will be majorly disappointed if LU lays an egg.
I think they should be able to score SOMETHING, I don't think it will be a shut out. I may be one of the only people on this board to actually see UND play earlier this year (in person). They have a good defense, but it's very susceptible to the pass. I think Lamar is going to a surprise when UND runs some option stuff, which they ran a few times against Idaho. Has Lamar faced an option team (other than Sam)
Top 10, most talented ever, super exciting, best sense sliced bread, every player was recruited by Duke and North Carolina, blah blah blah...get our butts kicked by SHSU and SFA again; finish below .500, and start talking about how good we will be next year. I wonder if Pat Foster is still alive?  Bring back Pat! You can't expect 4-5 yard averages right out the shoot. So far this season, Lamar has had 179 carries for 380 yards, which is a 2.12 average per game. That is second to last in the FCS, ahead of only the arguably worst FCS school, Valparaiso.
Do we play Valparaiso?  lol
It probably couldn't have hurt to schedule them.  ;D

 21.
Not necessarily.  Where is Lamar?  344?
Well they're on 266 and Lamar still hasn't come up, so you're in the top 266 at least.

What do you do for a living? I know I wouldn't want someone to always find something wrong with my job preformance. Then again, I deal will life or death issues everyday and have seen 1993 so there haven't been too many complaints.  ;) As for as Todd Dodge, you didn't mention he was the WR and QB coach at Rockwall and helped the team to the 4A state championship game versus SE Texas own West Orange-Stark. Nor did your post mention his stop at McKinney where they were a run oriented offense and changed the offense to a spread. By 1991, McKinney made it to the 4A regional finals.
i put out a fact, you get your panties in a knot..everybody seems to think Dodge is God's gift to coaching, i think otherwise. who  cares what you do for a living?...if you had dodge's winning pct, you'd be outta work also.
He won't be outta work for long.
