We had an obnoxious SFA fan, but aren't they all?
Not today. It was a while back when I first mentioned the WAC. It turned out the katfan was a black guy who ripped him a new one. Now he was on the USA forum doing the same.
Here's the page you speak of: [Hidden Content]
fast paced?  they've only passed the ball 95 times so far this season
Fast paced as in they make a lot of big plays with few possessions. They average about 57 plays per game, or about 6 TDs per game. That's 1 td every 10 plays. Lamar definitely doesn't have that kind of ability, few teams do.
against a really weak schedule to date..comeone..pikesville, edward waters?...we might be only the second skool they've played with scholarship kids....JJ why dont ya slither on back to beerkat kountry
I've actually made it a goal to be constructive in my posts. I don't attack, I just bring up areas for debate. I haven't trashed Lamar on this site once (I have on Katfans) because I have respect for your board. Trust me, if I'm wrong about the score, I'll be the first to admit it. I don't hide behind an avatar. With that said, SFA had played weaker competition (Albany) before playing you guys as well, and even after they beat a top ranked Northern Iowa team, fans were predicting upset wins on the road by 3-7 points. I'm trying to be a realist, not an asshole, so try to appreciate at least that much.

 6. These look like the same predictions from when you were going to play SFA on the road. I think these are a lot of homer scores. BigRed360 is the only logical score.

I think Lamar gets routed again, 42-13.
You think S Alabama is better than Sam Houston?
We run a very traditional, ball control offense, which doesn't give us a lot of opportunities to score, but it limits the time opponents have to score. USA is completely different, they're a quick paced offense that wants to put up points on the board as fast as possible. Just because they score more points on you doesn't make them a better team then us, it's just different playing styles. I based my answers on watching the snipit of the Langston game and reading about what they do to NAIA teams. No hard feelings, I hope I'm wrong, I always support SLC teams against others, but I think they're a better team.

 9.
SUCKS!!!! Lyon St. Gregory's Huston-Tillotson Canisius Louisiana College I'm sure people will be packing the Montagne for these games ::)
I saw SFA play Huston-Tillotson in Nac last year, and it was surprisingly close the entire game. SFA really only pulled away at the end because Huston-Tillotson has no depth.
 10. Annnnnnd....... back to South Alabama. What's the turnout for this week? Have they announced another sell out yet?
 11.

The BOX SCORE??? Terror is an idiot for pointing out the box score.  No one cares about that.  The Cowboys look better in the box score every week yet they are 1-3.  Terror is not an idiot, just obnoxiously arrogant and condenscending.  He's like a little dog nipping at your heals, always looking for a dig to satisfy his unjustified ego.  But he is no idiot.  The point about the boxscore is yes we did the things we needed to do to win the game.  Great!  But we didn't dominate against a lower division team.  Before you run with that as being negative, its not, just a fact.  I'm ecstatic we won the game.
We are not going to dominate many teams in our first year.  Just a fact.
Why do you ask for people to bring up negatives and then bitch about when they do? Congrats, you won, you didn't play perfect, no team does week in and week out. You can always improve upon things. Terror pointing out the box score was simply to show that had a few plays gone in favor of Langston, namely in the red zone, they would have won. The point is, first year program or not, an FCS team should handle an NAIA team fairly easy. Don't ask for something and then complain when you get it.
 12.
I was at that game & I'm not so sure about that "whipped their tales" part, but they definitely played them tough.
Well relative to what they were expecting.
 13.
Yes and SFA barely beats McNeese 32-27 in the last minutes.  I'm scraching my head over some of the scores from last night based on LU's performance against those teams.
Because the McNeese game was y'alls shining moment, start of football, no game tape on you, all the hype and a heated rivalvry. It was just the perfect storm. McNeese underestimated y'all and y'all whipped their tales, but they came out ahead.
 14. By those ratings, South Alabama is expected to win by 3 points.

I agree some of the play calling is very questionable...But we need to celebrate the win and prepare for a real tough game against South Alabama.... GO CARDS
Dude you are a JOKE. This is a forum for LAMAR FAN'S to discuss anything regarding Lamar or LU athletics. Go take a view of some of the other fan sites around the country. Quit getting so defensive. Geez!  ::) I think everyone who has posted up to now is a die hard Cardinals fan or they wouldn't waste their time making a post about their thoughts of the game.
I'm not a diehard Cardinal fan, far from it. It's nice to have a win, but they should have won by more. I tuned in for a little bit and watch Bevil make the same bad throws as before.
 16.

Next year is their first year... even though they have about 13 games in their back pocket heading into their game against Lamar... Last year and this, they were unclassified. You guys are FCS Independent this year, South Alabama is NCAA unclassified. The win or loss counts in your W/L column, but it is kind of an odd situation of how they have handled this process...
Not sure why you're rambling on about classifications.  South Alabama is still undefeated no matter how they are classified.  They did beat Nicholls State 39-21 a few weeks ago in Mobile, which was their first game against a FCS school.  They haven't played any real road games yet.  Looking at their roster they do have a lot of juniors and seniors on the team, including some FBS transfers.  This should be a good game.
They haven't really played much of any games to be honest. Hell, they played 2 junior colleges last year.
 17.
Only about 30% of FBS schools play in a bowl game each year so while it is funny reading some of the post you guys write they aren't really accurate of the landscape of FBS football.
That's inaccurate. There are 35 bowl games for upcoming year, which means 70 teams will be invited to play (assuming all 70 are at least .500 by the end of the season, which may be tough). There are about 120 FBS programs eligible to play in bowl games at the end of the season (minus USC obviously), so that means about 60% of FBS teams are INVITED, and only about 30% win a bowl game. Either way, I still agree with you on the rest ;)
 18.
well, seeing the way this thread went, I guess Langston is pretty much a mystery
They're ranked 16 in NAIA: [Hidden Content] Webber International is on the list at 24 after not being ranked the week before. Considering how close the Webber game was, but game may be tougher than some people think. I still give the edge to the Cards, but I wouldn't be surprised to see a last minute upset by the Lions.
 19.

I actually read that site and many more. The Southland is heading for a big decision. 1. Drop football, add UALR and ORU to become a strong basketball conference. or 2. Invite DII's to stay a FCS weak football conference. All depends heavily on what happens with Louisiana schools.
Sorry, UNLV the SLC will NEVER drop football. BTW, I just mentioned you in a post so keep us informed!  8)
If Louisiana schools drop football to stay DI, that doesn't mean they have to leave the SLC. Then how can the SLC play football with 4 teams?
No, if you drop football, they can stay in the SLC as long as all their sports are competing in SLC sanctioned events. If they were to drop down a division, they would no longer be in the SLC. They would basically become a UTA or TAMU-CC, no football, but all other sports.
 20.
For all of you that think that the FBS schools have it so easy, financially speaking: [Hidden Content]
A lot of that is because of Title IX. I'm not opposed to it, but having non-revenue generating sports that offer scholarships to support TIX cause a major financial strain on athletic budgets.
 21.

Would you want to go to a game where their schedule looks like a field of junior colleges.  I would expect to see a good increase in the next few years.
Thanks you just proved my point in that it matters not only winning but who we are playing. To answer your question; no I wouldn't spend a dime to see any of those teams play.
I think once they start playing some real teams that people know, they'll see their attendance spike. I think that's what's been best for the Lamar program. Starting off with McNeese is a school that people in the area KNOW about. Following it up with SFA and Sam are good choices because people are familiar with the name of those schools.
