1.
This isn't just for Vidor fans to comment on. In all the years you have watched Vidor fans or not who, IYO, was the top 3 running backs. Mine would be: Brad Croak Theron Rynols (sp) and Brentyn Clark
These are three good RBs from the last 10 yrs but we have had a lot of strong running backs in the history of Pirate football... Rick Culbert was awesome and I heard Hagler was a beast.
 2. His announcement is a good start
 3. Let the healing begin  :D
 4.
Heard the same thing about only having 2 teams.  Saw Coach Matthews yesterday at walmart.  He said that their would be 3 teams.  He said 2 teams was never an option.  He said that the new coach wasnt hired until Friday, he also said that if the coach hadnt been hired, that he would have moved another coach to make it happen.
Exactly!
 5. Have confirmation that there will be a Sophmore Team in Vidor
 6. There will be 3 teams
 7. Prayers for this man's family.
 8. Copied from Enterprise Article: "Here is the 20-4A All-District football team, as voted on by coaches. District 20-4A All-District Football Team" I'll take the opinions of the coaches who live this game on a daily basis over a bunch of Monday Morning Quarterbacks (myself included)  anyday... Congrats to all the selections.
 9.
Hey coach, great job! Jeff has always done a good job in a job which isn't always easy. Each decision he makes usually makes some happy, and some mad....but, its usually the right decision in the end. Coach, please continue to be who you are.....I kinda enjoy having you run our program....Thanks again!
Great 1st Post....Jeff is a great leader in our district and our community.
 10.

Quirante is a great player, but how can the Defensive MVP not come from the district's best defense?  That doesn't make any sense to me.  Corbin Carr was the most dominant defensive player that I saw all season.
Got no problem with that if you make Montana MVP. How are you a leader on both sides of the ball and not MVP? Totally agree with you. Seems to me the voting wasn't done according to the stats or the obvious for that matter. I have no idea what these individuals based the voting on but they didn't get it right. Period.
The coaches make these selections, I'm sure there was healthy discussion among them before voting.  Congrats to all the selections, they all deserve the honor.
 11. GO STANGS GO!!!!! Vidor is pulling for you!!!
 12. Thank you
 13.
I'm not going to get in to details, but all I will say is I played under Mathews at Vidor for four years (started on varsity for one) and I have NO respect for that man.  Once your tenure is over playing under him, you're considered as nothing of use to him.  He made me (as well as at least a dozen players in my class) feel as if four years of our extracurricular lives were wasted.  We truly felt like all the hard work and effort we gave was for nothing.  That is the God honest truth.
Sour Grapes, I'm sorry you weren't cut out to be a four year letterman, but that does not change the fact the Jeff is a great coach with a heart of gold.
 14. Great season, you represented your school, your town, and this area well...good job
 15. Can we stick to the game, Ned has worked hard as a unit to get where they are
 16.
yes he is in a perfect place to coach high school football playoffs 5 times since 1964 great place
Why do you care so much???
 17.
There is something which sticks out about Jeff and it has nothing to do with football. Jeff cares about the kids and his passion is driven by wanting his players to succeed. There is just something different about this guy and it separates him from others. Jeff should have the Vidor job for life if that is what he wants.
Agreed! Great Post
 18.

I don't know.  I'm pretty mad at him for the 15 yd penalty that basically negated the big 3rd down stop for a loss in the 3rd quarter.  It gave them another chance at a TD and it is really what started the downward spiral.  You cannot get mad at the kids for anything when you, as an adult, cannot control your emotions.  It was a big game and whatever he was upset about probably was valid, but you cannot let it cost you in the game.  You just can't do that.
The 15yd penalty you are referring to was a personal foul on one of the players NOT on Coach Mathews.  You may want to reconsider your accusation.  He was understandably upset at the players for not controlling their emotions.
Can you not read?  I stated that all I had to go on was what the broadcasters said and they said it was on the coaches.
We lose by 25 pts, and you make that false statement and all you can say is "that's all I had to go on."  If that was all you had to go on, I would probably refrain from making a statement as if it was fact.... Great Job Coach!
 19. Great post, he has the kids moving in such a positive direction on the field and in life... Thanks Jeff
