  1. I'm going to brag on my home league, but like I've posted before, GNLL doesn't have the biggest or strongest kids, but it does have alot of heart. I know you need more than heart to win championships, but we'll be competative each and every year. The two teams matched up really well, and who know's, if GNLL was the home team they could've been the winning team last night. It was back and forth and a very exciting game. How many places do you go and play and fans screaming with cheers the entire game, not many places. You have several combined leagues in our district now and GNLL has 5 (10-12 year old) regular season teams to pick three all-star teams. We still find a way to be there till the end, and believe me there is no quiting in our teams. Anyways good luck to Nederland and BC, hope to see one of you go to Williamsport. BTW, I would like to say GOOD JOB to all of the GNLL all star teams, all of us in Groves are proud of you.
  2. Your right, but it's kind of like two brother fighting and then someone else jumps in, then the two brothers fight the third. What I'm saying is that as a PNG fan we make our own comments, but when someone else makes that comment we get upset ;D I think you'll see a little mixture this year, but heck the ole bread and butter worked last year except for the Dayton game. That's being fair on my part. I bet if I say something about NED that would hear the same thing from ya'lls fans. We'll see when we swing RIGHT into Bulldog stadium and swing LEFT with another victory.
  3. Hpoefully we don't try to throw deep sidelines passes every down this year against Ozen and put them away early. ;D
  4. We tossed so much last year against ya'll that it tossed Nederland out of the postseason Toss that left and right for a while ;D
  5. The GNLL 10's played great and hopefully win one more to bring home the district trophy.
  6. North Shore followed very closely by WB. This should be a good district this year.
  7. When I was a sophmore at WB, we held a power lifting meet, and big Mark Henry was there. He brought his own weights 100 lb plates instead of 45 lb plates. I remember our football team was spotting during the meet and when he lifted everybody was kind of like" I hope he can lift the weight cause we can't handle it with four of us". The guy was a beast with the weights, I may be wrong but he was benching like 600lbs in HS.
  8. Never mind. I understand that FCS is D-1, but what I was saying is hopefully we can pull some that didn't go to a FBS program. FBS, FCS, CBS, ABC, FBI, DEA, UPS whatever just get the recruits here please!
  9. After seeing what Dayton did to our district the last two years, they have something speacial right now in Dayton. I say Dayton 42 BH 14
  10. Central by 2 TD's unless PAM makes a complete turnaround. They are one of the most disappointing teams in all of SETX.
  11. Do they play the Beaumont area Senior League teams before going to sectionals in Houston? I played senior league growing up in Beaumont. I can remember that mid county and Orange county played Pony, so when we won district it was usually to ORWALL for sectionals and then to College Station at the campus and field of Texas A&M for state. That was some fun times. We were one game from the World Series and got doubled up by San Antonio Northwest. The teams you play in Houston and at the state level are usually pretty dang good because they mostly play senior league over there and not PONY. That may have changed by now though. Good luck to the area teams
  12. 9-1 BC over Groves for 10's I was there. BC teams are always tough. Congrats and hopefullt Groves can meet up with ya'll again. The Groves 12's play BC tonight in BC, hopefully have better luck
  13. The 2008-09 non-conference schedule could also be the toughest to date. According to Roccaforte, the Cardinals will play road games at Memphis, Kentucky, Louisville and Rice and have a home tilt in Beaumont at the Montagne Center with Texas Tech. If the above is true then Coach Roc is heading the right direction, and if they pull a W against one of those teams that really impress me.
  14. Nederland hasn't impressed me so far. I was very suprised to see the younger all star teams 8, 9, 10 so far from Ned not be all that impressive. I thought with them combining that they would smoke just about everyone. I did hear that they had issues this year between Ned North and Ned South people when combining. I was told that alot of the kids played select instead of league ball or the select kids weren't allowed to play. I DON'T know this for sure, but I'm curious from the Nederland people if some of this is true. If the two Groves leagues combined there would be issues too I imagine.
  15. Hey, don't get me wrong, I agree with all of you about recruiting. I just hope LU is able to recruit SOME talent from this area. A&M, UT, Baylor, UH, Rice, LSU, and possibly USM within a five hour drive, recruiting is going to be tough. Hopefully we can steal a couple away from these types of programs in the future ;D
  16. Not all at slc schools I know, but a quick search showed 23 kids from Jasper to Port Arthur playing for McNeese, SHSU, SFA, TX St, ULL, UH,TSU, PV. If half of them were graduating after LU gets football and chose to stay home, it would be a starting point. Thats not including the greater Houston area. I think we'll do fine even with our refineries ;D
  17. How can you not say there are narrow-minded people on this board? There's a fair share of posters here who are all about Golden Triangle recruits and coaches. They want ____ from West Brook and Silsbee as coaches and _____ from Nederland and Vidor as players... You don't think that we have people from this area that can get the job done? Who do you think has help all of the other SLC schools over the years when LU didn't have a team. There are alot of kids and coaches from this area that have contributed to other football programs. I agree that we are going to have to get SOME outside players and coaches, but it needs to be a mixture. That will keep the home crowd happy. What's narrow minded about that?
  18. Kind of about this topic, but I'm going to make an opinion. Cody would be good for LU. I think your going to see players from Lumberton, Nederland, PNG, and smaller schools trying to go to LU due to the lack of D-1 signees from these schools. Central, WB, WOS, Ozen usually has some D-1 signees that go away to school. Hopefully with the talent of kids that don't get the big offers they can go to LU and help out.
  19. That's cause the people who work in the media are Mid-County alumni. I think its depends on where you from. I'm from Beaumont so I would believe that the Beaumont bowls are the best rivalries. Where as a person from Orange would believe WOS has the best rivalries. I grew up in Beaumont and played for WB, and as a child I wanted to be a Bruin, BUT you haven't seen anything until you live in MC and see what goes on here. I'm telling you I have two kids in the district with a third to start in a couple of years. Learning the school fight song in Kindergarten, the school spirit in PNG and Nederland can't be touched by any school in this area. You don't see any matching it until you get to Katy on the other side of Houston. Been here nine years and I'm staying, I've been turned into an Indian.
  20. Nick Saban!!!!!!!!! I can't believe them cajuns let him into the state! Can't stand that guy.
  21. Just trying to throw some Beaumont smack your way since it seems most of you are under the impression that it's some sort of mecca and that SETX is the second coming of whatever it may be...I don't quite get it! As far as football, I'm not too concerned with your program seeing as SHSU has expanded our recruiting area in prep for Lamar and even more FCS/FBS teams heading this way. We're bringing in kids from states and parts of Texas that we have never looked before. If anything, I hope Woodard is not as narrow-minded as some of the folks on this board when it comes to the Golden Triangle. He needs to be more far-sighted... I still think Lamar is going to have problems catching up with the McNeeses and Central Arkansas of the SLC... I know this isn't the greatest place on earth, but your downing our home. What do expect people to say? I don't think there are narrow minded epople either, maybe just don't buy into some of your garbage. We'll see about recruiting
  22. I hate to see the name change, but I agree that it would be nice for Groves to combine, but alot of people don't want to play PONY rules from Groves National and vice versa. Nederland combined, but they were both little league. If Groves combined and played PONY, you would have kids from other areas playing as well and it wouldn't be the same. Groves American use to be little league a long time ago. It's a shame that we can't combine all of our kids in Groves because I know we would really be competative.
  23. LA is #12 for best place to raise family, maybe same sex marriage ;D This news article is a joke. Sounds like someone is getting nervous over our football program before we even land any recruits.
  24. Stadium for BISD isn't going to be some massive building like you think UNLV, they are also building a notatorium. It will probably be somewhat like ours. Our stadium is like 12K to 13K.
  25. Heck, we just paid for a huge bond, there's not many in PNG ISD that could afford fees after financing the bond. Booster clubs as long as thier operated correctly and for the right reasons can help support some of the expenses
