  1. Will A&M get host a regional? It looks like they could possibly do it. I remember when they did back in I think 1988 or 1989 and they played Ben McDonald and LSU. There were some great games in that regional.
  2. I'll put my two cents in. I moved back to the area three years ago from Katy. I contacted GCYSC to sign up my two boys, and was told that I was too late. Now this was in June and there hadn't been any set teams or anything. At the time the boys were 5 and 8. The people I spoke with were very rude about the situation, and from then on I said I wouldn't put my kids in soccer because of the way I was treated. I felt that the way I was treated reflected the way that my kids would be treated in a league that didn't have any concerns for the area youth. Anyways, hopefully area soccer grows, but you would be amazed at how many youths in other areas of the state play soccer. Sorry for my griping, but I had to note my interaction with area youth soccer.
  3. I don't know the average age of fighters in MMA, but Kimbo is no spring chicken. He might be done in a few years before he gets to whatever point ya'll are talking about. He needs to get the big fights now and hopefully have the chance to win one, if not age may catch up to him.
  4. Why would we play Sante Fe/Seven Lakes? I thought we would play someone from the BH district. Doesn't matter just curious.
  5. you have to decide first place in baseball because first place gets a bye. Third place is either your in or your out.
  6. Intended OOC SOS 2008 - Not available 2007 - 74 2006 - 84 2005 - 89 2004 - 68 2003 - 70 Lamar has floated within reach of that top 75 number as far as intended OOC strength of schedule goes. Guess the teams were not producing and the SOS went higher. lamar sos is the best it can be playing in the slc.this years sos is a little higher because some of the teams we play are down.in most years our sos and 40 wins gets lamar an at-large. Exactly, LU didn't get an at large bid in 05 or 06 and they had a decent record. 05 they went 38-23 and still no NCAA Regional. The last time LU had 40 wins and got an at-large bid was the 1987 season 40-19. Usually they win the conference tourney with 40 wins and don't have to worry to see if their selected. You have to schedule teams like Rice, UT, A&M, LSU, Ole Miss, Florida year in and year out with a couple of quality wins and I think 35 wins would get you an at-large.
  7. I disagree with your assessment of Groves LL. They aren't as strong as two years ago, but I think they will be better this year than last year due to having a couple of more pitchers. The bats aren't as strong, but they will compete. Leagues go in cycles. We lost some good players to select, but the kids that are playing league ball will play hard, and hopefully we can win playing small ball. Nederland will be very tough for years to come after combining the two leagues so thats not a suprise, but I would think BC would be stronger than FHWS. BTW, we're not very weak just not very much depth
  8. Lamar SOS according to Boyd's World is 182. The Southland Conference as a whole ranks 17th in RPI. Not sure how you are thinking that Lamar will be top 75 in RPI. Scalp'em -- your OOC schedule was not that impressive. Best team was Kansas State. When your best win is 150+ OOC, do not expect to be RPI top 75. Monroe. 62. Kansas State. 74 La-Lafayette. 114. Illinois. 115. Michigan State. 165. And do not worry -- SHSU is not much better by any means. We do have a win over Rice which is very high up there, but not much else impressive. You misunderstood what I was saying. I don't know why LU didn't make a schedule that would put them in the top 75 RPI. I'm not knocking the stats putting them where they're at because about the only strong team they played this year is Rice and U of H. They didn't win those. This has to be one of the worst seasons for LU baseball in a while.
  9. How is LU #5 in strength of schedule in the SLC. LU always turns out strong baseball teams, but yeat not in the top 75 RPI? Can somebody explain this to me? There's no doubt with a stonger RPI and not that great of a record you have a better chance of an at large bid for the NCAA tournament than a lower RPI. Maybe I'm missing something.
  10. I hope alot of youth coaches/parents read this post and understand the importance of pitch counts. I've heard alot of gripping about the little league pitch count, but I think it's a good thing. Keep your kids arm strong and come high school ball they'll be ready to throw more pitches. Over throw them while they're young and your son probably won't last until high school pitching.
  11. If they don't win the SLC tournament, mark my word they will be staying home. I don't see them getting an at large bid. Too many losses that should be wins.
  12. My one year old is already throwing and catching the football. He has two older brothers that were the same way. Football in Texas, Is there anything else?
  13. Terror would've gone to LU, but he didn't have the grades to get in :D Just Kidding
  14. Nederland is rolling at the right time. Ned 5 LCM 4 This is going to be a good one
  15. I figured Southern Miss probably wouldn't happen, but it sounded good. You sound on target about the starting two years. Thanks for the info
  16. Since they started winning? They have a rough about 5 or 6 years, but WB has always been a tough team. We played WOS alot back in the 90's. 1991 we went to WOS and beat the #1 4A team in the state at WOS. I have to agree with the post about LaMarque. We went there to scrimmage them that same year, and wow. LM was 4A, but they were good. My picks are WOS,WB, Dayton, PNG, Nederland Maybe Dayton gets bumped if your going with past playoff history and overall historical teams. I forgot to put that graduated from WB, not PNG
  17. So you would go Independent without a conference or would we be in the SWAC?
  18. Fantasy Schedule South Alabama Away Louisiana Tech Home Southern Mississippi Away Louisiana Lafayette Home SFA Away * SHSU Home * SE Louisiana Home * Central Arkansas Away * Nicholls St Away * Northwestern St Home * Texas St Home * McNeese St Away * This gives you a 12 game schedule with one big team Southern Miss and a conference. Possibly 9-3? That would be great for a first year program ;D
  19. I would schedule as many schools with in about a 300-400 mile radius. That way recruits would be more likely to pick LU because parents wouldn't have to travel over 5-6 hours to see thier youngsters play. That would be from Alabama to Dallas to San Antonio to Corpus Christi. I think you could find enough colleges and recruits in that radius.
  20. I seen you dancing to the PNG walk up music :D I don't think you would leave the music playing too long ;D
  21. No music was played trying to distract the pitcher.. That is a flat out lie!! The only music played was between innings and each player has walk-up music. Get your facts straight before you post! Fact is, the music is only played while the opposing team is playing defense and played loudly right up until the pitcher goes into his windup. Just to be clear, "Walk-up" music is played loudly as Vidor's batters are walking up to the plate and are settling into the batters box, then shut off just as the pitcher is ready to release the ball. But, while Vidor is playing defense, and while their pitcher's are on the mound doing their thing, trying to concentrate, the music is shut off. I would think the loud music would definitely distract an opposing pitcher. Too bad the officials won't control this obnoxious practice. Once your batter is in the batter's box, there's your que to shut it off. Play your "Walk-up" music, key word being "Walk" then shut it off. Vidor is not the only school that does this, but they are definitely the loudest and most obvious. I don't think that it matters, but did anyone from PNG baseball coaching staff tell the umpire to speak with the Vidor announcer? Personally I don't think that the music being played for the first pitch effected the outcome of the game, but I wasn't there. If something like that does happene and it's bothering the opposing team then they need to meet with the umpire and it's not up to the fans/parents. Calm down, I'm a PNG fan, but I just wanted to point that out, and this is a unbias statement.
  22. The wheels are falling off ??? This really shocks me
