That was kind of what I was getting at with my previous post. LU does have a couple of good pitchers, but not enough depth to stay in games with Rice 13-5 or A&M, they could possibly hang with Kentucky although they play in a tough SEC and a very good team.

Would be short lived for LU

Yes, I think they'll probably win but I dont see them holding us to just 14 points, or us giving up 52! That aint gonna happen. The score should be closer than that! I hope your right, even though I sound negative towards WB it's still my alma mater and I'll be rooting for ya'll. My opinion is Katy is just too tough on both sides of the ball. I do think they lost their incredible RB and the QB was either a junior or senior last year. *LC-M vs. PN-G/11-1 PN-G Wins/Comments*

A little humility would serve you well in life. If you aren't Harrington (which would be shocking), you aren't doing him any favors in the reputation department by posting tasteless remarks. We would all like to think that a player with that much talent would also be an all around great sport...an athlete that views his talent as a God given blessing, and a player that sets a positive example for his team, school and community. Why can't you believe that this is not the Harrington kid? I have told you on several occasions that it is not. I am sure you have figured out who I am so I am tell you again that he does not even get on this forum. Harrington is a good ballplayer and he is too focused on the season and taking care of his business and helping his team. I don't know who this skills person is but once again it is not Eric Harrington!!!!!! I atleast know how Eric is and I know it's not him either. Tell Eric to keep it up. I also know that people on here accussing Eric of stuff will get you fired up Good luck the rest of the season -

Hey, this is a crazy district and it's not over by any means. Hopefully everything stays tasteful on here and congrats to my NDNS. LCM will bounce back I promise you. Harrington has to be one of the top pitchers in the golden triangle/Houston area. Eveyone keep your heads up because there's teams left in the district that want it just as bad. Everyone have a good rest of the week. -
I don't think LCM scores 4 earned runs on Harrington. PNG wins 4-1 unless defensive craters.
-
52-14 Katy Tigers win this one even on a rebuilding year.
-
I hope the Brook does well in that schedule, but I think area teams around here could jump up and bite them that's why they don't schedule them. Better to get beat by a strong 5A team than lose to a powerful 3A school or a mediocare 4A team. Don't tell me about not being scared either because this is the first year that WB has scheduled this tough of a schedule. I just wish we had more local teams playing each other in non-district, it would make this forum explode. Back on the topic, nobody from 3A on up makes it to the state championship this year.

It's probably already been said, but Tx St. has like 30,000 students and they are probably wanting to go to a bigger conference. I don't know their attendance numbers for football and all that, but I would expect that they want to make a push and could end up being another Baylor, although Baylor only has like 5,000 students. Let them leave, but kicking them out is a little extreme. I still say that liked when LU was in the Sunbelt conference. Look what their basketball teams did this year.

Jahlali for PNG. Not sure on spelling

I know from experience that the reason for low attendance at high school baseball games is because alot of us have a kid or kids involved in youth baseball which is going on at the same time as high school baseball. Therefor, we can't make it to all of the HS games, but I wish I could. I imagine there are alot of people out there in the same boat as me. Of course you'll never get 8,000 to a HS baseball game, but I think you could get around 1,000 if it didn't conflict with the youth baseball season. My two cents -

****Neumann Stays At Nederland!****
TradinUp BH replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
If Neuman leaves look for Long from Kelly or someone like that to vying for the post. -
Just curious and then I won't comment anymore, but how many athletes have opted to play for a D2 school and start instead of going to D1 school and maybe getting to start thier senior year? Ex. Dustin Long from PNG went to A&M, seen he was getting beat out and went to your alma mater, I believe that Josh McCowan did the same thing. LU will never get the top tier recruits as much as I want them to, but reality is reality. You have to hope that top tier kids want to transfer because of playing time or decide out of HS that they choose LU for playing time over a top tier team to get great recruits. Of course this is an assessment from a fan and not a ESPN radio personality Can't recruit on the town is great for college kids, can't recruit on the scenery of the campus area although they worked wonders, but you still have falling down houses and plants, hard to recruit great overall sports program, coaches are a plus, stadium is falling down unless vast improvements, academics are good, lack of pro athletes coming out of LU. Out of all of this what I'm saying is the strongest recruiting tool is PLAYING time, therefore you have to hope for JC transfer or a D1 kid wanting more playing time, possibly one or two hometown boys.

Pizza Hut park in Frisco is used by Frisco ISD. All Frisco HS use it, Frisco HS, Centennial HS, can't remember the other two cause thier new. Very nice place, I seen it in December and it's top notch. Berry Center is nicer I think because at Pizza Hut Park they have a stage at one end of the stadium and doesn't look as much of a stadium like the Berry Center.

Crushing Alabama in NCAA toughens scheduling for LU
TradinUp BH replied to a topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Heck schedule Western Kentucky and South Alabama, both old school teams from when LU was in the Sun Belt and thier quality teams.Schedule more mid major teams that have a little more name to them. -
SHSU, dominance in Div II football? Since your so adamant about putting us in Division II, can I call Lamar a Division II program? Apparently, we share the same conference and you guys are going to begin playing football (and will probably stick around while) in our Division II league... You do realize your ignorance is the same one that coaches are going to use to recruit against Lamar in football and you better believe, they're already doing it in basketball (which was actually a major reason they changed the name from I-AA to Division I Football Championship Subdivision and the champion to Division I national title -- people were using 'Div II' or 'Div I-AA' in other sports). Your just adding fuel to the fire... Hopefully, you will learn your lesson...I'm sure your future football coaches will be touting a Division I program in Beaumont. Perhaps you can get on board... The last time I checked I'm just a fan and not a recruiter for LU, so it is what it is. They made your D1 FCS because the smaller colleges didn't feel important. Whatever, you know sports and that's good for you, but that's why we have a board to discuss things. I still call it D2, so there you have it.

The makeup of a top recruit: Cy Ridge’s star quarterback By DAVE FANUCCHI [email protected] 03/18/2008 Email to a friendPost a CommentPrinter-friendly An alert for high school football fans: get your 2008 Cy Ridge season tickets early, because the Rams will be showcasing the top football recruit in the entire state of Texas this coming Fall. His name is Russell Shepard, and he plays quarterback. He runs through tackles like a gazelle, and led Cy Ridge to their first ever unbeaten, outright district 17-5A title in 2007. But he has bigger and better plans. In the recruiting world, it’s no secret. Shepard is the area’s most coveted prospect. After he received close to 50 Division I scholarship offers, he ended all speculation last week by announcing his plans to attend LSU, as soon as he graduates early from Cy Ridge in December. A second cousin of former Heisman trophy winner and Tennessee Titans running back Eddie George, Shepard’s off-season regimen has him trying to improve his passing skills by working out on weekends with former NFL quarterback Jeff Blake. I sat down with the future Bayou Bengal to discuss all things Shepard, hoping to find out what kind of internal makeup goes with his incredible athletic talent. What have the last few months been like, being the most sought after football player in Texas? It has been both a positive and a bit of a negative. It has given our school and our program some great exposure, and has helped the Cy-Fair community get some recognition, but I think there will be a target on my back going into next season, because everyone will want a piece of me and our team. But overall, it has been an honor and a blessing. What was the deciding factor that made you choose LSU? I wanted to get the recruiting process over with in order to stop all the hype. When LSU said that they want me to be their quarterback, and come in and compete for their starting position early, that did it for me. I feel like I can go there and play throughout my career, and the SEC is such a great conference. What were some of your other top choices? Actually LSU didn’t even entire the picture until late. Texas, USC, Michigan and Florida were on my radar, but when coach Thiebaud told me that I had a chance to play at LSU early in my career and not have to wait behind other players, like I might at those other programs, that is what excited me the most. Plus, they are always going to be in the national title picture, and playing in big games. How has your relationship with coach Les Miles been so far? When I called him and told him that I’m committing to his program, he didn’t believe me. I had to get my dad on the phone to convince him. He was so excited. He is a great man with a very nice family, and I don’t see him going anywhere. He told me that they won’t be bringing in very many other quarterbacks.

ESPN does appear on the resume, made my national radio debut on there... SHSU has been to the Div I semifinals once and Div I quarterfinals twice in football...we've had our share of success in football, albeit, not as consistent as the Pokes... I'm going to have to do away with my XM radio now ;D I'm happy for SHSU in thier three years of dominance in D2 football. : Anyways good to hear that we have experts on here since everybody on the radio is. Welcome to SETX 8)

Basketball. If this league is so horrible, why has Lamar failed to achieve any success? Okay, blame the conference for holding you back, but with more resources (the nicest arena in the conference and perhaps the deepest pockets for basketball), the football schools (who have less for basketball) seem to be the ones making the NCAAs and NIT while since Lamar returned, it took a surprising run in the SLC tournament to get there. A few of you constantly belittle the SLC, but it's not like Lamar is amounting to much, so you may as well belittle yourselves. And your surprised the SLC gets bids to the NCAA and NIT? The league had an RPI in the top 20 this year, better than at least 10 or so conferences. We constantly beat up on the SWAC, among a few other conferences. Why do we not deserve a bid when we are better than a growing amount of conferences each year? Baseball? The Southland should be able to get two teams in this year at the current rate and has do so in baseball before (and softball for that matter) in the last few years. UCA got a nice win over a nationally ranked Ole Miss yesterday, just a few days after being swept by SHSU. Not bad! Thanks for showing your lack of knowledge -- I haven't seen you on this board before, so good luck in "getting with the game"...and welcome to the "lowly" Southland. I've been on plenty of boards. First of all, I don't remember a SLC school going to Omaha in baseball. They have been to the regionals like LU, but not Omaha. Basketball back before cars were invinted did decent and that was LU. Golf, that was LU, Football that was MCNeese St for a couple of years. Oh, I know PRISONS, that was Huntsville. Give me a break, I hate to break it to you but I think your not the only one that knows a little about sports on here. If your such an expert, I guess you missed your ESPN calling
-
I'm surprised that the Southland gets an automatic bid to the dance or NIT. The big W by SFA over OU wasn't that great cause OU is really down this year. LEAVE the Southland if you can. This league hasn't ever done anything and never will. Horrible basketball, baseball, and so on.

Who Has The Strongest Little League This Year?
TradinUp BH replied to TradinUp BH's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I was a Beaumont boy, but I sure would like you to share where you got that info :'( Try this. [Hidden Content] Congrats, you did your homework and your right, but we still edge ya'll out on total runs scored. It's ok for ya'll to be second though ;D -
The majority of those teams in this tournament have been to the dance numerous times, so it appears they went with known teams even though they might not have that great of a record. LU better start scheduling about 5-6 tougher games a year.
