  1. One word for you, BAYLOR. What has this team done in the past 100 years. They are finally breaking the red headed step child syndrome and making NCAA mens tourney, the women have been good for a couple of years, the track team and baseball team are some what competitive. If LU can get some inside help who knows they could compete with bigger teams. Rice, U of H, SMU, TCU, Lamar, La Tech, ULL, Baylor, Texas State, SFA, Sam Houston St., UNT
  2. I was a Beaumont boy, but I sure would like you to share where you got that info :'(
  3. And the year before that? That's what I thought. Historically mid county has spanked the Beaumont area teams in youth baseball. I know because I came up through Amelia and back then the winner of the Beaumont area played the winner of mid-county and they won almost every year.
  4. This district with Nederland, Groves, BC, FHWS, and Vidor will be very tough this year. I would put any of them up against the West End, Amelia, Lumberton, Silsbee district. Real baseball is played in Mid County and BC :D
  5. Is the stadium going to be ready for the Texas City game? I hope so BTW, What happened to playing NED the last game of the year? Maybe it helps being focused for the playoffs or it just doesn't work for all of the teams in district.
  6. I was at the LSU game this Saturday against Duquene sp? and that team was horrible. Dishon looked good, but the pitching was horrible, LSU scored 22 runs off of them. LSU has no pitching either. Anyways it was neat to see a local boy playing for the Tigers.
  7. I was close, LU can't beat MSU in Lake Charles. I watched the game when they played here and LU dominated them, but for some reason LU struggles when they cross the Sabine River
  8. Now ya'll know why football is so big around here and the area is better with baseball talent.
  9. This is the game that bites LU in the butt, McNeese by 8 points. MSU always plays LU tough at home. As much as I hate to say it MSU upsets the Cards.
  10. Must be another sour tu fan that envies the Bayou Bengals. That would never happen, ever, ever, ever.
  11. BlueDove, I thought Yates was in the third ward by U of H? It doesn't matter because Ozen is going to send them back to whatever Ward their from. Bet they don't know about the Pear Orchard, but they will Send that to Jack Yates, BTW wasn't the LION on the wizard of oz a coward ;D That was meant for fun and don't take it literally
  12. It looks like their crying in the picture, maybe because they're about to play Ozen.
  13. Wow, Central iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiis 9-12 grade unless I missed something. He goes to Ozen and kids are allowed to move around the district. What does any of it have to do with D Franks being a good basketball player? ???
  14. With the above being said, we are the District Champs for the past two years Age 11-12;D
  15. Is it that your best players are opting out for the Select teams and leaving your league with weaker players or it's just the numbers in general that are your concerns ??? We only have 225 kids in our entire league. I know of two 12 year olds for sure that opted to play select only this year are very good ball players, but the select team their on said select only. We still have great ball players playing our league, but if we had all of the kids that play select only in Groves play only at little league it would really help. Our city is only about 17,000 and we have a little league and a pony league with the same ages. That's what I meant by the talent is split up in three different leagues (Select, Pony, Little League) Once you get to 13 years old, we have kids that play select, Babe Ruth Port Neches Pony and their all split up again.
  16. I heard that BCLL combined with Orangefield and half of the Orange youth league. Is that true? If so it will make them even stronger. This ought to be a great year for youth baseball. If only the kids would make league ball their number #1 priority. I understand select, but it was nice when representing your community was a big deal. I know it still is, but with local kids spread throughout different leagues, it doesn't seem as much. Good luck to all area youth leagues this year and have a great season.
  17. It would be nice to get games like that over here maybe when LU gets new stadium. You could have SE TX schools versus Louisiana schools.
  18. And what do you think would've happened to PAM with that same schedule?
  19. welcome to Ozen pitchers world, you just have to deal with it as a pitcher : Excuses by two teams that got whipped by better teams. Always the umps, refs fault : Stop excuses and give credit where credit is due, PNG had 8 hits and 2 HR, Kelly had 7 hits and 0 HR. It sounds like Kelly needs to workout more ;D Kelly has a good team and should do fine this year
  20. Is he kin to Zach or Ben, both of those boys were good ball players as well as fast as chetahs.
  21. I played football and baseball at WB, but I remember in basketball it seemed Clear Lake was one of the best teams during the late 80's to early 90's in basketball. I remember them bouncing WB out of the playoffs, and I think buzzer beaters if I remember right.
  22. The Woodlands won 3 games last year. They were also at the wrong end of some big blowouts. They may win, but it will not be by 2 or 3 touchdowns. I'm think this game will be alot closer. The Woodlands played Smithson Valley, Katy, North Shore, KLein Collins, Klein, Oak, Lufkin, and a host of other tough schools last year. Memorial played WB, and maybe Humble other than that they had a cup cake schedule and went 4-6. The Woodlands is always a tough team no matter what thier record is. Look for it to be alot larger margin of victory than what you thought.
