  1. BH appears to have another fine team this year. Should be some good first round playoff games
  2. With baseball starting up, I figured I would find out who is going to be strong this year. Groves National has seen a large influx of Groves American players coming over this year. I look for our league to pretty strong come All Star time, and I know Nederland combined thier two leagues. Any thoughts on your leagues?
  3. Maybe more season ticket holders need to show up. I've been to a couple of games and have to get a seat way up there, and when I look down towards the bottom, I see alot of vacant seats. If your not going to a game and your a season ticket holder get on here and give them away so people will show up for you. College sports in this area doesn't bring many folks to the game, start scheduling big name people and they will come.
  4. Too many people trying to interfere at LM for a coach to do his job. It's going to take a special person that can handle all of the negative hoopla. I'm sure they'll have no problem finding a replacement, all the talent in the world at thier disposal.
  5. I don't even know what he did, but in Texas your an adult at 17 and you can vote and fight in a war at 18. Maybe he's inmature for his age, but 17, 18 your a young ADULT. Anyways with that said let'em play whatever he did must not be too bad if he's still in school. BTW, I don't think anyone on here is trying to hold anyone down, DickVitale I like most of your comments, but I don't think anyone is trying be hard on the kid on this board because he's Urban or whatever.
  6. We went down in enrollment? Vidor and Nederland passed us up > Msut be the kids they sent back to PAISD ;D
  7. I still find it amazing that they can't break PNG's attendance records. The reason being is that no matter how old or young a Indian is, they will pack the house. I've lived in Katy and PNG area, and although Katy brings a packed house, they don't have the traditions. What I mean about traditions is not just football, but the other stuff that goes along with pride in your school and things that have been past on from generation to generation.
  8. I think there are around 10 schools that share that stadium. they are building number 12 I believe. That is a HUGE isd!! When they are at build out it will be the third largest ISD in the state
  9. I agree with coachacola. I wish they could make a conference with like U of H, Rice, Baylor, TCU, SMU, Louisiana-Lafayette, UT-Arlington, SFA, Texas State, Louisiana Tech, Southern Miss, and Lamar. East West La Tech Baylor Louisiana-Lafayette TCU Southern Miss SMU Lamar UT-Arlington Rice SFA U of H Texas State This wouldn't be the greatest conference, but I think LU could be compete
  10. Silsbee and Dayton for sure have REAL stadiums if there is such a thing. This area is finally realizing that there is a need for quality facilities, and hopefully get playoff games over in this area instead of going to Houston every year. It doesn't hurt when you play the majority of games are played on turf during the regular season, because when you travel to Houston for the playoffs your probably going to be playing on it. I don't think that it matters if the field is 50 years old, because dirt is dirt ;D With that being said, I'm happy that we're getting a new stadium even though the 08 team might not get to play in it.
  11. My bad, I didn't see Burkeville. I must have read it wrong on several of them. I think alot of it has to do with so many more schools since the mid 80's along with a huge population growth in all of Texas except for the Golden Triangle which has declined since that time. It's going to take a special team with a little luck to get to the final game in the 3A-5A divisions because of so many quality teams.
  12. I don't think so because by the time they get finished travelling to all of the schools, they'll be falling asleep on the field
  13. I had to look it up to back up my above statement, but here it is for the last 20 years of area high school football, and teams that played in final game 2005 2A Newton Lost 2004 2A Newton Lost 2004 3A Jasper Lost 2000 4A WOS Lost 1999 4A PNG Lost 1998 4A WOS Lost 1997 4A WOS WON 1-6 in title games for area teams the last 20 years. Not very good for Golden Triangle football. This shows just how strong Texas high school football is, and the low percentage of even making it to the title game is.
  14. Very good regular season team, not as good playoff team like the rest of the area. I don't mean anything negative about that statement, but what I do mean is that most of our area teams for some reason have trouble getting past that one big game. Much love to WOS
  15. 20-4A PNG- tough non-district 2-1 with an L to Texas City Nederland-Super tough non district possible 0-3 Lumberton- Better than last year non district schedule Central- toughest non-district schedule in the district Livingston- Unknown non-district Ozen- tough non-district LCM- weak non-district except for WOS game Vidor- Weak non-district With Dayton out of the district, look for this district to be wide open for 4 playoff spots. PNG and Nederland are always contenders even if you don't like them. Nobody knows what Lumberton will do, they could be the one year wonder or they could be starting a football powerhouse for years to come. Central is always tough and should bounce back to contend for a playoff spot. Although, district new comber Livingston could sneak up on the district and suprise everybody. Ozen, LCM always has pre-season hype, but fizzle out come district time. Vidor plays with alot of heart, but the homecoming halftime is about the only thing thier known for. As for as 19-4A Dayton should spank everybody in that district, with Barbers Hill, Crosby, and Galena Park being the other playoff teams. Look for C.E. King to suprise people. In two years Kingwood Park and Baytown Memorial will probably be going to 5A, and throw a kink in all of the districts again.
  16. Could've used LU when they revamp thier stadium, and saved the rest of the money for Thomas' next big pay raise ;D ;D ;D Sorry I had to say it
  17. He couldn't provide a felony arrest or drug possession is why tu couldn't get him ;D ;D ;D Just kidding guys, don't get mad
  18. They've gotten alot smaller with the additional High School's. Katy is around 2,400 - 2,600 now I think. They just have so many kids playing football from youth to high school age. It's incredible. There is two youth league's with one of them naming the teams after the elementary school's, it's kind of funny. Th eKaty area is about to build another high school in about two to four years and it's going to be pulling from Katy HS, so after that you might not hear as much about them.
  19. The Woodlands is still a good team, but with the opening of College Park HS, they are a little weaker. I say The Woodlands by 2 to 3 TD's over PAM, although I would like for the area team to win.
  20. I'm just curious to know why we (PNG) would have scheduled two opponnets that we could possibly play in the first round of the playoffs. Is it because of travel expense or a multi year deal with like Crosby? I would like for us to step up and play atleast one 5A school and then maybe schools from another district that we wouldn't play until deep in the playoffs. It looks like all of the area schools are beefing up thier non-district schedules this year. Looks good and interested to see what happens
  21. Chewca, historically Livingston has been a very weak football team. 3 playoff appearances since they've been 4A in the last like 30 years. Yes I would say that they are a far drop from BH or Dayton. Sorry if your feelings are hurt, but I would like a team in our district that's tough year in and year out. They will add a strong baseball and soccer team to the district, but when you talk about football, they are weak. I'll give them thier one year wonder team. Is it too early for the trash talking to begin Oh well Welcome to the district Livingston
  22. Our district just got smacked in the face. I wouldn't call it lucky because I would rather Dayton and BH in our district. Both of them would've made this district probably one of the top $a districts in the state, but now we'rejust an average district.
  23. tough district, but man only two teams stay home for the playoffs. Channelview and Sterling is in for a long two years
