Wow is all I can say. -
Don't think you'll see many playoff games at any of three newest stadiums in SETX. The only one that you may get is 3A and below. 4A and 5A schools in our area will either go for home toss or nuetral field that won't include any of our area stadiums. The Houston area has the stadiums that are actually neutral sites and will beat out our area every year. You might have some soccer playoffs and band stuff there, but that's it. I doubt LU will host anything HS anymore. What would be nice is if they could pass some type of agreement that says we'll travel to Houston area one year for playoffs, but then after that the next year first two rounds has to be in southeast Texas no matter who's playing. Between Beaumont stadiums and PNG stadium, you could hold alot of playoff games like that. Just wishing though

Lumberton Stand-Out transferred to Lamar
TradinUp BH replied to GoBigBlue1997's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Is it because all of these kids are not getting playing time at other schools and think they can get some at LU or what? SMU degree IMO would alot better on a resume then LU. Can't play ball forever, just reality. Anyways, happy thier coming to LU, but curious of why. -
Bruins are "recognized" as one of the top 5A teams in region 3, as they throttle panthers. Dr. Thomas becomes head coach because of the "recognized" rating. San Antonio was playing cherokee on the riverwalk as the Indians scalp Cats, and put them back in the litter box. Jags walk over Titans, and coach goes back to playstation to find different plays ;D
If Dobbins stays healthy, I'm confident that the credibility will be restored... You'll see...
I know about Dobbins and the QB, but it takes a team. They will be salty no doubt, but your going by LAST YEARS numbers? Now you see what I'm talking about. You might have to worry about week 7. If they pull the upset, then I look closer at them. I just think when you play in a district that is a one man show, that's the only game you have to worry about. I think in alot of these other districts atleast five to six weeks is going to be a fight.
-
That's based on last year... You shouldn't base hs sports, on last years results or the whole "my team beat a team that your team lost to" theory... :D I mean we lost to Waller last year, so does that mean that every1 that beat them last year, is better than us? ;) lol As for Dawson, you might have that part right, but none of those other teams will take Montgomery this year.
Then what do you base it on? Our team this year might be as good as lasts years team and probably better. Everybody has an opinion and that's mine. I notice there's some matchups early in the season and we'll see. Mark my words though, Montgomery wouldn't win our district this year, I promise you.
-
Like I said... Our top 3. I'm aware that the rest of the district sucks. Crosby got by Montgomery last year, but I think they would win 20-4A and atleast finish in the top 2 in 19-4A. (behind Dayton) Our third best team, Stratford is better than any other third best team in any district in region 3. If I'm wrong, let me know what team is better? (remember they have to be your districts third best team) As for Montgomery and Crosby this year, we'll see what happens on the 27th... 24-4A & 17-4A is close.
Let's see, where do I begin? Montgomery beat a very weak Austin Del Valle team 1st round and then got beat by Crosby, which was beat by PNG. If you take PNG and Nederland, I know they beat Montgomery and Stratford, just like I think Dawson, Crosby, GC Memorial, El Campo beat Montgomery or Startford. Just because Startford was 5A doesn't mean a whole lot to me. They've always been in a weak district and get pumeled by the Katy district in the first round year in and year out. They had some decent teams a couple of years ago when they had a D1 QB, but they're average 4A now. Forgot to say, there's no way in heck that Montgomery would win our district. Your losing credibility now.

I would love for our teams over here to play in Sulphur, but it's hard locating when tournaments are. I've been to the USSSA website and it doesn't show alot of the tournaments in Sulphur and Lake Charles?

D17- Brenham,Montgomery, Stratford D18- Humble, Huntsville, Willis D19- Dayton, Crosby, GC Memorial D20- Central, PNG, Nederland D23- Angelton, El Campo, Foster D24- Friendswood, Dawson, LaMarque/Manvel Please tell me how the 3 D17 teams are better as a whole then the other districts mentioned. I would say it goes in this order, D24, D20, D19, D23, D17, D18. That would put ya'll in the 5th spot.
-
I'll put our top 3 against any other district's top 3 from region 3. From top to bottom, most districts would take us though....
You must be trying to stir the pot a little, because after ya'll that district is sub par at best. 19-4A smacked around Montgomery and Waller last year. New additions to your district Northbrook, Spring Woods are horrible. Stratford has decent teams every now and then. Pound for pound your district may not be in the top 5 in region 3. Of course this over the past several years including last year.

Aldine HC Crawford shot in a carjacking

Talked to a Harris Co Deputy today that says coach is refusing to cooperate with police now. Hope he gets better, but I'm sure we can come up with a variety of things that probably led to him getting shot. -
With the addition of Ball, I think that ya'll have the toughest district in the state no doubt. I think in a couple of years 18-4A is going to be a tough one also, but not as tough as 24-4A. 25-4A is another one that going to be tough once some of young programs begin to mature. Alot of people moving to that part of Austin and should produce some good athletes.

SETX fans support thier teams ;D You would think Brenham would be on the administrators to get a nice new stadium that holds atleast 10,000 and big parking lot for all those diesel trucks :D Just kidding on the last comment ;D

Seriously, how many times has LCM been to the playoffs in football. The historical data I guess got removed from the site. I'm just curious. The Bear fans think PNG don't respect them? Really? I pull for PNG every week, but I feel LCM will be good, but in this district it's fight every week and we respect every team. Just because I say that LCM will get beat by PNG doesn't mean we're not giving ya'll credit for all of the "almost" last year. A few years ago LCM spanked our tails so why wouldn't we not give ya'll respect? The reason people are picking the teams from the district is the history they have in making the playoffs, kind of like people picking LaMarque to be good when they've been horrible the last couple of years, but they have a history of making the playoffs. That's why asked how many times LCM has made the playoffs. Be the next Lumberton and then you'll start having heads nod a little more

Football we were district champs, went to the playoffs (Where was LCM?) and lost to the Finalist Brenham Cubs. I have an extra purple shirt for you since you love to talk about PNG so much ;)
So, last year, PNG finished higher in 1. Football 2. Baseball 3. Girl's Track 4. Boy's Soccer 5. Girl's Soccer 6. UIL (PNG won district, LCM finished second) LCM finished higher in 1. Volleyball 2. Boy's Basketball 3. Girl's Basketball 4. Boy's Track 5. Girl's Golf 6. Girl's Powerlifting Both teams tied with Nederland for 1st place in Softball Obviously, this is not a complete list, because I don't know about the more obscure sports (tennis, swimming, cross-country) or how PNG did in boys powerlifting. But I'd gladly accept the shirt, because I don't like messing up rags when I'm drying the tires on my truck! ;D
I thought this was a football thread, and all kidding aside, LCM gets beat this year AGAIN by PNG. Win a district championship in football atleast one year in the next 40 years and then get back with me. ;)

And being the reigning district champs is not the same as being this year's district champs, which, in case you missed it, is sorta the point of "predictions". However, I agree with you about the Kirbyville fan, that was a wierd decision to come pick a fight with a 4A team that they have nothing to do with
Forgot to say probably District Champs again ;D I do believe that LCM will be contending for a playoff spot, and if you read previous posts from me, I've said in the past that I was a Gonzales fan, he impressed me last year.
For WB: There is not very much of a drop between the first and second team at WB...WB is very deep in all positions right now. I believe the first team vs first team should be a good one with Lufkin...maybe 2 scores a piece. I believe our second team will out score the first team 3 to 1.
I saw a little of one of Lukin's practices when I was on business in Lukin. It was one of the early one's and looked big as always, and fast. I don't know much of what they have coming back, but I do know they have a tradition of good athletes and hard hitting teams. Good Luck

I think they went like 2-8 last year and are picked to come in 7th out of a 10 team district. Nederland should look good against them. The big test will be the scrimmage ya'll have with Dayton. Good Luck
