1.
The SEC isn't as clearly the best conference in baseball as they are in football but I would still say they are the best. The Big 12 is definately second, followed by the PAC- 10.
I'm telling you watch out for the ACC. I say SEC, ACC, PAC-10, Big 12 in that order. Although Texas is playing lights out, but when you put them as a group Big 12 falls to fourth.
 2. Looks like SEC is still dominating college baseball 4. Florida 31-11 3-0 6 6. South Carolina 34-9 2-1 7 11. Mississippi 33-13 5-0 14 14. Arkansas 35-10 2-2 9 19. Auburn 21-17 3-1 NR 24. Louisiana State 32-13 0-4 15 I didn't find another conference that has more teams ranked in the top 25. The ACC actually had 5.
 3. Although I'm a LSU fan, I have to say that Texas looks very strong this year. Watched them against Baylor. They'll be in Omaha this year.
 4. I finally went to a couple of games lately (UTSA series). I'm not impressed. LU might squeek into the tourney as #8, but that's sad. Hopefully they figure things out before next year. I still think the best thing would be make a coaching change, but that's just me.
Huntsman pays Port Neches to keep quiet about pollution. Shell does it with Deer Park. Lyondell & Chevron does it with pasadena ISD. Its just how things work in plant towns. They know what your breathing ! Do you ? Well, I do thats why I moved from the area. I used to work for Huntsman.
All of SETX breaths the same air as Port Neches if not worse, but we get the money ;D
 6. Very nice, over the top in my opinion. OK PNG, let's build a roof over ours and be the first HS in Texas with a dome with a retractable roof ;D Seriously, I would think the majority of the guys on here that love HS football would even say that what Allen is doing is over the top. Another thing on Allen is they only have one high school, which I think may be the largest in the state. They are trying to be Plano.  I think Plano, Allen, and Frisco are trying to show each other who is richer than the other.
 7. I would suggest people drive to Fort Bend ISD and see all the new construction since 2000 which includes 4 new high schools.  And Trippy, it's called White Flight.  Alot of you left PA after the layoffs in '82 and '84 SFA, Fort Bend ISD for one is having money issues and laying teachers off right now. Second, FBISD has 68,000 students, 31.42% Black, 23.71% white, 23.02 Hispanic, 21.78% Asian, and 0.19 American Indian. Thats straight from the web site of FBISD. You gotta come with something better than that. Maybe next time say like the Woodlands, Katy is not even high ratio of white. Texas is a melting pot, and the majority of school districts are as well. I think it has to do with the area mentality and socio-economic status. Black students at FBISD,Katy ISD, Conroe ISD are getting great education. PA is the armpit of Texas, and until they get a grip on the THUGS in that town it will continue to go down.
 8. SFA, I went to school in Beaumont from K-12, and most of my schools in the west end that I attended didn't even have windows (Vincent and West Brook), but thanks to the ping pong ball when I went to Price for 4th and 5th in the pear orchard I had windows in my school. The funny thing is atleast during my time black and white kids got along (maybe not the parents), but heck my senior year of football at WB we only had like 5 white kids on varsity. That was when they only had Central and West Brook. There was no race issue. The pear orchard got their school back, I don't see the issue.
 9. Crazy, since I grew up in Beaumont and a proud graduate of the Brook, I can't believe that the new stadium is going to be named after Thomas. I think Alex Durley, who brought the pear orchard area and the west end together would be a great name. This mess is getting out of hand, and your going have people people in Beaumont acting like it's 1950's again. It's a shame that they couldn't come up with other Beaumont bred people to name the stadium after or just use a plain name like BISD Stadium. Oh well, I don't live there so my opinion isn't worth much. Nice stadium though.
 10. Good job Lamar and great to see my boy Eric throwing bullets.
 11. Guys I was kidding about my responses. Please don't take it seriously, I'm not that stupid. Thanks
 12. Switch hit, bunt, throw with wrong hand, run backwards around the bases, pitch underhanded, and so forth. THERE'S NO CRYING IN BASEBALL! j/k that's horrible, but how do you compare so many blowout wins by Yates to one blowout win by Friendswood. All in all both are wrong, but I don't know if there is a real answer. I do know in basketball your able to control the game alot easier than baseball.
 13.

just because we make remarks about lamar doesn't mean we aren't fans of the program. I am just telling y'all how I feel about the program right now, I am a die hard Seminoles Fan, I haven't missed a football game in 15 yrs, but you know what I wanted Bowden to go because he was hurting the overall program, it was time for a change, they needed a new young Face to come in that was cocky and had some swagger to him. I know sometimes the TRUTH hurts, but you know what Change doesn't hurt, there is nothing wrong with change, I mean people on here act like Gilligan is a  Wayne Graham/Mike Martin type coach lol, because I tell you this much if Rice keeps struggling like they are this yr, you are going to here some whispers.
So running off Bobby Bowden is something to be proud of? lol, if anybody earned right to go out on his own terms it was Bobby Bowden.  FSU should be ashamed of how it treated him.  The expectations both schools have were created by the success of these men, successes that you seem determined to belittle.  The turth (don't need caps to make it true) is that every post is some variation of 'you don't like Gilligan.'  Oh yeah, if I read it correctly, Wayne Graham is a great coach but he better start winning more or you want him gone.
becktobigs, do you attend 75% of FSU games, season ticket holder, semonole club member? If not then you can't comment about Bowden. I'm just kidding on that, but I did want to show you how silly this thread was in reference to people that weren't season ticket holders. Hey, I'm the first to say Gilligan is a good coach. My big deal with him was in the 90's he didn't believe in recruiting local talent and went up north ie. NewYork to recruit kids and the kids around here got stuck going to JC. They had winning teams during that time and partly because the kids he recruited were very good. Gilligan has now began to recruit kids from this area and that's great, I hope that continues, but I think he could get some that are leaving for bigger colleges if he would start playing better talented and bigger named teams. I do believe there comes a time when maybe you've been there too long. I just don't know if it's time Gilligan left or not. Actually they should ask Umphrey who he wants since it's his money that made Vincent Beck what it is.lol J/K BTW, becktobigs how do you know if some of us aren't Lamar Alumni, and are starting to look at the baseball program a little harder.  If you want LU to be a premier mid major college in sports, your going to have to expect better in all of the programs, basketball, baseball, track, volleyball, and soon to be football. My two cents from a non season ticket holder.
 14.

So the point of this is people questioning the baseball program are guys that don't go to 75% of the home games and aren't season ticket holders or a member of the cardinal club. That's a pretty weak defense of the baseball program. I guess everyone on here that isn't in high school or has a kid at a high school shouldn't comment or question or debate any sports team on here. They should just shut this website down if we can't talk about sports programs. The pro Gilligan, strength of schedule and so forth people have still yet to answer what is going on with the baseball program. I participated in your poll question, now tell us what your trying to obtain from this and what's the point?
The point is that the people trashing the program have more excuses than ticket stubs.  Go watch them play and then come back and tell us what's wrong with them.  I already know.  The bullpen has been weak and the defense worse.  And, for what it's worth, none of that keeps me from supporting them.
I don"\'t think anyone was trashing them. People have brought up points about the program without seeing them play. I don't think you have to see someone play before you question problems with the program. I notice that your new to this board so I will take it easy on you. I think we'll just sit back and watch. Somebody pointed out that I'm not an LU fan, which by the way I am, but I like college baseball as a whole. The people on here ::)
 15.
Gage and Krug,   Not Rinaldo  and have a good feeling that contracts will not be renewed past next year.
It's Rinando. Is he not doing a good job, just curious played ball with him at WB. Don't know anything about his coaching skills, but he was a good ball player.

 17. Are you a season ticket holder for Lamar Baseball? No If not do you go to the games and buy Gen. Admission? Yes Are you a member of the Cardinal Club? No Do you attend at least 75% of home games at Vincent Beck? No This sounds like someone upset over questions about LU Baseball. I have been one that have brought up questions about the program. Some of these questions is because I don't attend alot of games partly due to three boys that play baseball and I would rather be at their games than any college game. I would like for some people that do attend alot of the games tell me whats been going on the last five years. I go watch LU when they play the big name teams at home though. I love college baseball though.
 18. Records don't mean anything if you don't get to the post season. My only hangup is that LU has had some good success until the past five years. I don't know if it's the recruiting or the coaching. I don't think anyone is saying they know more about baseball than Coach Gilligan on here. When you have a forum like this, everybody is going to be internet coaches. This is what makes the site interesting. I know that most people on here have followed sports for a long time and are just speaking from their observations. Lamar has always had good baseball teams. Even during the years they've had bad records, they played quality teams and for the most part been in the thick of things come tourney time. It just appears lately they have fallen, and nobody can say why.
 19. What do you think so far? Will Coach G be on the hot seat if the Cards don't turn it around and miss out on the SLC tourny? There's still alot of baseball to go, but so far there hasn't been many bright spots.
 20. They need to reel off some sweeps or this season is done. 1 and 2 on every series sin't going to cut it. SE LA will win that division of the conference. Horrible.
 21.

Chris Sweetenham went 7 innings for the Indians for a complete game victory. Offensively the Indians hit I believe 3 homeruns as Jalai, Sweetenham and Reyenga went deep. For a team that has lost their Div 1 pitcher, the Indians are sitting atop 20-4A with a 2-0 record with wins over LCM and Nederland.
Look for more out of Sweetenham this yr, looks as if his offseason training is paying off...
Coach Stone had them doing the P90X during the offseason.
