1. I will say that I am a Gilligan fan but there are some things that bother me a bit. Players not being in the right place when the ball is away from them on defense. Bad on field decisions by the kids and coaches. i believe you need to ramp it up a bit in the workouts to carry it over to the ball game itself. The injuries are the main thing because without pitching and some timely hitting you ill not win close games. Too many times this year the team has lost on the little things that good clubs usually execute.
2. Lamar's baseball program is down for only one reason. Pitching injuries have more than taken their toll on this group of kids.
3. Ford was outstanding on the mound. Thought he turned the corner last year about mid-saeson last year.
4. The Choice kid can play the game a little. He is going to have to make soem changes at the plate in pro ball but he will be just fine. Pretty good OF with a better than average arm. Great job by Lamar o take 2 of 3 from a pretty good UTA team. Lamar just ran in to a buzz saw in game 3 so to speak.
5. Ford knocked out in the 2nd. UTA back with a vengeance today.
6. It is time for him to let his coaches coach and quit trying to micromanage everything.
7. Same statement as my last only insert the other kid's name.
8. I really have to question Harrington staying in as long as he did.....but it worked out for LU.
9. As usual , I will be there to watch and support the young men.
10. Hey 25 I know  what the technical name of the venues is called. However, at what point is it not the playoffs or post season? I pitched in a Regional in college two times and therefore I believe I know what I am talking about.
11. I too am a fan of Lamar sports and hope they make a huge playoff run. No more negativity from me.
12. I will back off the negative comments just for this board. However, I am not a fan of how the program is ran at this point in time. Enough said by me for a while.....promise.
13. Well that is where you are wrong 25. I too played at the D1 level and beyond so I believe I do have a clue about the game. It may be true that today's teams have that many pitchers and to that I may be wrong. However, it is theHC job to use them correctly and to develope them. No not all will be effective but they must contribute and improve. That is the pitching coach and in this case of Lamar the HC responsibility imo.
14. The reason Gilligan has bullpen problems is that he has too many pitchers to begin with. A 10 to 11 man staff is all any team needs to be effective. If his answer is that he is going deep with those 3 kids on weekends then the season is over anyhow. Hell he recruited those kids. How about saying I just can't get it done as a coach folks. I have to have kids who can do it on their own. Th reason the two young kids are doing so well is that they haven't been poisoned by his methods of teaching yet. Give him time and they too will become mediocre.
15. Ford was really good. Ups and downs for that kid is a microcosim of the team's season.
16. Gilligan is not one of the best P-coaches around anywhere except maybe Beaumont.
17. Only guy who needs to go is head man.
18. Lamar has very good assistants and if you think that is the problem then you certainly do not know what is going on in that program. Gilligan is "micro managing" that ball team and is taking the life out of it along with him. Rickelfson is a really good recruiter and excellent baseball man who has plenty of years in the game. We lost a really good pitching coach last year due to Gilligan's changing everything the guy did with those guys. If you would watch and just listen a little closer you would see all of that yourself. Any way best of luck to the entire team this weekend and I hope they sweep and get back into the mix so to speak.
19. Get a grip AJ. The 3 picthers who did not pitch would not have made any difference  whatsoever. Ford gave up 0 hits thru 4 on Tuesday and the other kids gave up ony a couple. Still no "W". Yesterday was a blip on the radar overall when it comes to how the pitching usually throws. Most of those kids who threw Wed. have thrown just fine this year. The only consistent thing we have going now is that we are losing and that starts at the top not the bottom. Leadership from the coaches to the vets have to moderate that.
20. Not a player and years past any eligibility for me. You can tell by the demeanor of the players and coaches when you go out and watch. Have you been out there?
21.
Ford still looked bad. Everyone else looked decent. Mcginnis might be turning it around. And that's just couldn't come through with RISP.
That kid pitched well before coming to Lamar and seems to have good stuff. I think sometimes Lamar has Too much pitching to allow those kids enough time to get to the mound and get any type of consistantcy established.
22. Terrible offensive output again. Good pitching no hitting.
23. From my watching the past few weeks it seems to me that Gilligan has lost this year's current team and more importantly the coaches who work for him. He is a bit of a snake oil salesman in his approach to the coaching and really hasn't won a significant game as a coach in the past 2 or 3 years. Move on and let some new blood in the program. Coach the team up and quit doggin them and take a look at yourself bub!
