You put any other coach in at Vidor and I doubt they win as many games as Mathews has there. And I doubt you'll find as good of a person as him

All of these mergers would stay local. Close towns or in the case of Orange same town. In the end it would save tax dollars.

Maybe with state funding cuts schools will wise up and start consolidating. I have never understood the need for so many "independent" school districts.

If  Joubert wants to be the AD he should apply for the head football job. Simple enough.

It is a 2A school. At a 2A school the athletic director should be the head football coach unless the school does not have football.

well with all the budget uncertainty with Texas public schools I bet Long was waiting to make sure the hiring would be official. No reason for him to jump ship and then not have the job he is leaving for work out because of budget reasons. Keep that in mind before bashing him.
